so ive been seeing lots of shots of the moon lately (if you can even call them that.... they are more like bright blobs in the sky...), so i thought it was about time for me to do another moon shot. this one is one of my favourites for obvious reasons... most moon shots are just the moon, but this on has more depth of composition than that. it is the second of my moon in mourning series (if you can call it a series...). the first one called Moon in Mourning did some of the stuff that this one did, except at the time i was limited to a 200mm focal length cap. this second one was done with a 400mm lens.

the last version really pissed me off.... i made it in the Adobe RGB color space and when i uploaded it to the web the forground got way to light and really detracted from it, so i made a new version that looks the way i wanted it to.

wow! i knew that it was gona be a good shoot when i went out tonight, but i never knew it would be this good... i i scouted out this spot at around 6:30 and piddled around and shot some pics of the surounding area (most of which turned out under or overexposed because of the intense light at the time. i waited until 7:45, when the light was good and was able to take this picture.

i really like this pic and i hope some of you will be able to enjoy it!

NOTE: the print is a 16bit tiff and is very high quality

its a 36 min exposure at f/3.5 brrr.... it was a cold night but it was well worth it! this is my first attempt at trying to get motion in the stars along with stationary objects on the ground. let me know how it is!

this is a remake of a picture called WindS up HigH, in the original i was unsatisfied with the high saturation and the minimal highlites in the clouds... so here is #2 i think it is much much better
