"You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes." Doesn't this sound oddly familiar?
By picking the blue or green options in Mass Effect 3, you basically agreed to give up, stop fighting and just die. Picking the red beam means your still fighting, struggling against the Reapers, not going to just lay there and die like they want you to. Live to fight another day..
The Leviathan and the Death of HopeWarning: contains spoilers concerning the Leviathan DLC, Mass Effect 3 and my notions about what good writing is. Duh.The Leviathan and the Death of Hope3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are moments when I wish I could just turn off my writer's sense at a whim and "just go with it". Ignore that a story in a game, or a movie, or a book, or a TV show is flawed in my opinion, just to enjoy the views, get an adrenaline rush from all the flashing colors and have fun. And truth be told - it usually works that way... Just not for the universes I tend to care about. If you got me invested in your franchise, I will expect you to deliver the goods. 'Tis how the cookie crumbles.
Which brings me to the Leviathan DLC. I've seen a lot of positive reviews and emotions towards it popping up all over the internet before I was even able to check it out myself. My hopes were high, and, initially, I loved it. It had a sense of exploration Mass Effect 3 was seriously lacking and the TGES Mining Base really reminded me of Noveria... It was spot on.
The Background (AR V4 Commentary 1)The background project for now will be a fourth iteration of the AR-15.The Background (AR V4 Commentary 1)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
The goals of this model will be as follows:
1. Improve the level of detail.
2. Make the measurements and proportions more correct (although some changes, like the large pivot pin, will remain).
3. Strengthen the structure and solve failure points like the barrel well.
Making a large package with everything would take forever (because there wouldn't be a definite end point), so what I'll probably do is make one version of each part, release that as a basic model, and then make accessory packs for the sake of variety.
The first part of the model is obviously the lower receiver. The basic shape has been changed slightly to be more faithful to the real thing. The magwell walls are thinner, the bottom doesn't extend down as far, and the rear ring, besides having an interior, extends down the sides of the lower. Additionally, there are some open spaces for the attachment of little parts. Although I'm not putting in sprin

Drell female officially revealed - Irikah Krios in ME Foundation
Do you remember lieutenant Abrudas from ME:Evolution comic? Yes, that was the first Turian female even shown during the cycle of Mass Effect trilogy.
And now a preview of a new issue of ME: Foundation #12 has appeared... and inside... First official appearance of a Drell Female.
This time they showed Thane's wife that is known to the players through Thane's tales about his past.
So for the time being I'll upload the screens from the preview:
What do you think?
Abrudas was shown several months before Omeda DLC and the official design for Turian females didn't stray far from the comic version.
Maybe that means ME4 will have Drell Females. Who knows. If so, they probably will be similar to Irikah.

Things you should never ask an Artist to doI write this to not spark a debate or judgement, only to share my personal opinion and experience in hopes of benefiting you and offering insight to people thinking about hiring an artist.Things you should never ask an Artist to do3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Things you should never ask an Artist to do:
1. Free Work.
Do I really have to explain this one? You wouldn't walk into any other business offering a service and ask for free clothes or a burger right? No, you pay for them without question and they take a lot less creativity, time to make and cost a lot less. Why ask people to work for free on something you couldn't make yourself? If you believe in your vision, then I suggest find funding for it to pay the people doing the work for you. This goes for family as well, don't get me wrong, I love my family and enjoy doing something for them but it means so much more when I OFFER to do something for free than when it's expected. Let the artist decide whether or not they want to give their time for free without asking them, as a rule treat them with res

Working Without a Pattern
Hi everyone! I'm TheSmall-Stuff and what I love is to make amigurumi, but I'm never patient enough to use a pattern. Because of this, I've found and developed a bunch of techniques that I use while designing the dolls that I make! What I'm going to try to do is explain my thought process in making a doll, and share some of the techniques that I use to form the shapes and the details in a character. Sorry it's long, but I tried to use lots of pictures. I hope this helps! Lets start
Shapes are key!
When you go to make a doll, you need to pick it apart in your head and see all of the shapes that make the character. Sometimes it's easier to draw out a diagram of all of the pieces that go into the doll, to get a good idea of how it fits together. While you're planning, it's good to be thinking "How do I make this?" while you choose shapes. However
Pinback Button How-To!Hello! I offered to assist projecteducate with a tutorial on how to make pinback buttons. Thank you so much for having me!Pinback Button How-To!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The button materials here are those necessary to make 1.25 inch buttons. Luckily, the process used to make pinback buttons does not change across sizes. This means you can use this process for creating 1 inch buttons as well as the 3 inch buttons!
There are various kinds of button presses and button cutters. Those used here are from http://www.buttonbiz.com/.
The button design used in this tutorial is my own creation. Please do not use it without permission.
Now, let's make some buttons!
1. Use button cutter to cut button designs. See example below:

2D section covers all kind of colored, shaded images, preferably drawn with outlines.
3D works is about polygonal objects of all kinds, textured and with some post-processing for nice looks.
Vector images refer to things drawn with hard lines and occasional shading, such as blueprints and ink-like drawings.
I do all kinds of art and I'm opened to different styles (vector drawings of a Star Wars ship, 3D render of a Stargate vehicle, blueprint for a Dune tank and of course every kind of original universe objects and scenes) so don't be afraid to ask for anything that you can think of.
You can also check examples of my commisioned work and private gallery works on the bottom of this entry.

ME3 endings versus angry fansWarning! The text below includes heavy spoilers, so people who didn't finish ME3 yet should avoid it.ME3 endings versus angry fans3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The battle between Bioware and it's fans rages on. This year we already had three occasions to write angry notes to Bioware. The failed 4th book - that was more of a fanfic than a book. The Day-1 DLC "From ashes" fiasco, and now the boycott of ME3 endings. Endings that were renounced by the fans as uncanonical.
The fans are mobilizing to get additional (more happy) ME3 ending. And if they were able to force Bioware to make a re-write of the failed book, maybe they will be able to achieve this too.
Here you can vote in the polls on Bioware Social:
Here you can sign a petition for additional endings:

INTRO TO CROCHETINTRO TO CROCHETINTRO TO CROCHET2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Materials you need, techniques to hold and use the crochet hook and main stitches you must know, all in one article for you to start crocheting right now!
Why crochet is that easy?
Unlike knitting, crochet uses just one tool (a single hook) rather than two (a pair of needles) and you work one yarn loop at a time; these two factors are enough to make it less complicated.
Do you want another reason to choose crochet?
Well, another advantage is that it’s easier to drop your project and pick it up again without losing your work; The stitches won’t slide off just like with the needles, therefore there’s no chance of a line of stitches unraveling before your eyes!
Crochet projects develop more quickly (this is ideal for beginners and impatient people)
What do you need to start?
You won't need many materials to get started. The basics you'll need consist of a croch

The following programs are alternatives to digital painting programs like Paint Tool SAI and Corel Paintshop Pro.
Krita is a great program that is actively developed and has a plethora of features. The brush engine in particular is really nice. Similar to GIMP & Photoshop, Krita does more than just digital painting. You can do things like photomanipulation, and it offers a variety of file formats and templates to experiment with. Because there are so many features, the learning curve is going to be higher than with something like SAI, but since it's well laid out and gorgeous, you should be able to paint gorgeous stuff in no time.
Keep in mind, Krita uses a lot of RAM & CPU, and you might need a graphics card to keep the pro
Macro-PhotographyWhat's Macro Photography? Technically a Macro photograph shows a subject that is life size compared to the size of the negative of a SLR or sensor in a Full Frame DSLR, that's a 1:1 reproduction ratio aspect. For example, if we take a macro of an object wich is 35 mm long, it will cover the whole frame, no matter what size the reproduction, if we are shooting with a Full Frame camera. Often a ratio aspect of 1:2 is also considered Macro, although that ratio shows subjects wich life size is half of the size compared to the negative or sensor, I preffer to call those pictures Close-up photograpies.Macro-Photography1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
Here is an example of what I'm saying: I shot a measuring tape with my D600, wich is a full frame camera, and my macro lens set at the maximun magnification. As you can see there's exactly 35 mm of the tape.
Example of 1:1 ratio aspect with a full frame camera
What do we need to do Macro Photography? Well, firstly a c

This will be an intro and some tips to using both oven bake and air dry clay. I'll be showing you how I do things, but every artist is different, and I encourage you to take whatever you'd like to learn from my process and figure out which ways work best for you!
Oven Bake Clay
Oven bake or polymer clay comes in many brands, colors, and types. A major difference among brands is the clay's consistency and strength. For example, Sculpey brand alone has multiple clay lines from original to eraser to bendy. A popular Sculpey brand among DA artists is "Super Sculpey," a more ceramic like polymer clay with a consistency that lends itself to detail oriented pieces. Finding the right clay for you is a bit of trial and error and simply finding which brand you prefer to work with.
Introduction to Cross StitchingCross StitchingIntroduction to Cross Stitching2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Cross stitch is one of a number of embroidery stitches, but usually the one most people are familiar with. Whether it was in a school art class or just randomly picking up a cross stitch kit as a kid, a lot of us have tried it at some point. Lets delve into this popular stitch a little bit.
What is a cross stitch?
As the name suggests, is is simply a cross, or an 'X' stitched with thread onto canvas. Typically, it's used to make a picture or a pattern. The stitch will form a complete square, and in this regard it is quite similar to pixel art. Through the placement of individual stitches adjacent to one another, an overall image will eventually appear.
It's an incredibly simple stitch, but can take some time to master. Like many crafts, it can be difficult to notice the

First thing we'll cover are some tweaking tips. Tweaking, not to be confused with Twerking. Almost everyone does it. It's one of the best ways to learn. This section of the tutorial will cover some of the basics that will hopefully help new MB3D users with tweaking. Just don't let words like iterations, raystep multiplier and stepthwidth limiter scare you off. You don't need to know the math behind these things. Just consider those words as lables to show you where a setting is and you'll do fine. That's what the GUI is for, to make using the program fairly simple. I'm going to use a sample parameter of mine from about 2 1\2 years ago which is a tweak in a long line of tweaks. You will find that I am guilty of a few things that I'm going to cover, so it's a good example.
As always, I like to mention that I am not a tech giant. I really don't know a lot of the technical aspects of Mandelbulb 3D. If you are interested in the technical
