Burning Through Celluloid
"My name is Victoria Winters. My journey is just beginning - a journey that I am hoping will somehow begin to reveal the mysteries of my past. It is a journey that will bring me to a strange and dark place - to a house high atop a stormy cliff at the edge of the sea - to a house called Collinwood; to a world I've never known with people I've never met - people who tonight, are still only vague shadows in my mind, but will soon fill all of the days and nights of my tomorrows."
Released in 2012, directed by Tim Burton and distributed by Warner Bros; "Dark Shadows" is a dramatic comedy based off the Dan Curtis soap opera from 1966 and ran at least five years but left behind more episodes on daytime programming than Doctor Who and Star Trek at the time as well as a large cult following and nostalgic memories for it's viewers. To prepare for this movie, I took it upon myself to watch the original series, and from watching full episodes n
Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 1I didn't expect him to black out on me this rudely. "I thought we were in the middle of a conversation here, Twiggers." I turned my amused smirk upside-down and touched his face with my gloved hand, pulling open his closed eyelid with my thumb. His brown eyes didn't react. He didn't blink or wince or execute any reflex he was supposed to when something came close to his eyeball. He was out. Cold as a glacier. I rested my hand on the side of his neck as I pondered what to do with him next.Look what the cat dragged in - Chapter 13 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
He was in bad shape. Signs of starvation were obvious as I looked closer at him. He had shadows under his eyes and his cheekbones weren't covered by as much flesh as they should be, not to mention the protruding bony elbows poking out of his malnutritioned arms. His skin was sickly pale when it was supposed to be a soft milk-chocolate shade. The poor thing was dying, if not already dead. But I could feel a faint pulse under my hand as his heart strived to pump blood up to his dehydrated brain. I frown
Sleepy Hollow ReviewSleepy Hollow Review5 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
Well, it comes to my mind that Movie Lovers has set out a thing to have people write reviews for the film "Sleepy Hollow" directed in 1999 by visionary Tim Burton. Well, since I'm also writing a review for "Plan 9 from Outer Space", I decided "eh, what the hell? I'll do a review for this film." So here we are folks: "Sleepy Hollow".
At the turn of the century, New York detective Ichabod Crane (played by Johnny Depp) is sent to investigate a series of murders in upstate Sleepy Hollow. Despite the fact that everyone is serious and confirmed that the perpetrator of these murders is the legendary Headless Horseman, Crane refuses to believe in the convoluted tale until he himself runs into the Headless Horseman himself (played by Christopher Walken, I'm serious). Despite his logical state of mind, he continues to attempt to solve the case, uncovering a town conspiracy and scoring with Katrina Van Tassel (Played by Christina Ricci). There's also all these random flashbacks of him as a child

A loud thud echoed down the stairwell, its vibrations followed by sound effects and voice variations that could only mean Bonnie was having an adventure. Her adventures were limited only to the extent of her imagination, an imagination so vivid her playthings seemed to come to life. Being only five the possibilities were endless, she could be a cowgirl rounding up a band of cattle rustlers, a space ranger sworn to protect the Galactic Alliance from the likes of the evil emperor Zurg, or a superhero protecting her city from an evil witch. Today though it was an escapade of her own design, staring none other than her newest and most favorite toys Sheriff Woody, Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command along with a few of her other playthings. The evil Doctor Porkchop had captured Jessie in a floating glass prison, unbreakable from the outside and it was up to Woody and Buzz to save her whilst stopping the ev

Forgotten secrets she doth keep
The fragile hearts of fragile girls
Strung round her neck like pure glass pearls
In darkness, maidens clothed in black
Mourn heroes uncertain to come back
Their souls are bound by love and locks
Here within the music box
Maidens betrothed, betrothed did vow
To return as soon as time allowed
So slowly dying, they remain afloat
Not drowning but for that small hope
The key to the cage cruel hands do wind
The faint, sick melody decays their minds
Their souls held fast in chains and locks
Slip away in the song of the music box
Empty shells they do become
To all but love, blind, deaf and dumb
She dangles their hopes on a silver string
Weighed down with their precious wedding rings
She makes them cry, she makes them sing
Spurns nightingale beauty and clips their wings
But for breath of faith, their souls are lost
But trapped within the music box
She had been scorned, had been forgotten
In shame and anger, she withers, rotten
A Problem with HeightsJessie let out a sigh of frustration that seemed to come from the bottom of her brown boots. She had tried keeping her knees bent, but that hurt after a while. She tried slouching like Woody did, but after a few minutes she had straightened up. How her brother stood that way all the time astounded her as she stretched. Still, she was at a loss over what to do and she sighed again.A Problem with Heights2 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
“What’s wrong, Cowgirl?”
Jessie turned and saw Buzz looking quizzically at her. She leaned forward until her front was pressed against his chest plate. She threw her arms around his neck as he caught her by the waist. Her long legs were stretched out well behind her and she was eye to eye with him. “Don’tcha get tired of me being taller’n you all the time?”
Buzz looked amused as he gazed back at the doll, “Why would I mind that? It’s just part of who you are; do you want me to mind something you can

Will this just be a cheap rip-off of 'A Nightmare on Elms Street' .
Jessie was standing in the middle of an open field. She looked around and saw a beach with a dock that spilt in two, a group of oak trees making up a forest, a two cabins near the beach, and a cliff that overlooked the sea. All this made up an all-to-familiar TV show island in the middle of a lake.
The breeze flew through her hair.
She heard a voice call her.
"Jessie!" said a voice that put butterflies in her stomach.
She turned and saw her husband, Buzz Lightyear, running over to her. She ran towards him as well.
It was just like in the movies when the couple ran slowly towards each other as the music played. When they got to each other they embraced each other in a loving hug and then they began to kiss.
When they broke it Buzz asked Jess
Toy Story: His HugsBuzz gave great hugs. Of this, Jessie was sure. You wouldn't think that, of course - him being made of plastic and all - but he did. Maybe it was the way he was shaped. And it wasn't just how he hugged, but when he did so. How he knew the exact moment to show up when Jessie was having a bad day, she didn't know. Maybe he was stalking her. Or maybe he had an intuition that went off the second someone around him was feeling less than okay.
Whatever the case, he was always there - just before Jessie felt as though she'd fall apart - hugging her close enough to keep her together.
And it was his hugs alone that had the power to do that. The power to put everything in perspective; literally turning Jessie's frown upside down. A single hug from Buzz accomplished more than a long talk into the night.
It was interesting because Jessie knew that, f

The entire town had been called into the streets. They were milling around, muttering quietly to each other and wondering what had caused the Sheriff and his Deputy to raise them from their beds so early in the morning.
Jessie observed them from the balcony above the saloon, her eyes narrowed as she tried to imagine these simple people fighting a futuristic space man and his green little minions. Needless to say, she couldn't.
Buzz placed his hand on her shoulder, and smiled slightly, then moved forward to stand next to the railing. Jessie noticed he had a new watch on his hi wrist, and a holster hooked to his belt - with a strange kind of gun in it.
"People of Andonnie!" He cried out to the townsfolk below. The muttering stopped almost immediately. "I have very important news, and I need all of you to remain calm." Jessie could see the citizens' eyes shifting back and forth nervously.
"We have learned that there is going to be an attack on Andonnie!" Buzz said. There was a collective

I let the silence descend upon us as I sipped my tea and stared at her over the rim. She was uncomfortable; she would be the first to break it. That was always the way. It's strange to think I've become accustomed to something as bizarre as this so quickly, but there you have it. As much as I didn't want it in the first place, I'm comfortable with my new role now. Midday sees the market full,
Gentle winds are turning east
And offering a lull-
To the burning, caged and ignorant heat.
Water running on the hands
Of a street child.
Whilst dry his comrades slept,
Brought to dark by warm exhaust
And scents that spices wept.
A banknote travels past,
skeltered on the winds,
Which from the west had rallyed in,
To comfort arid lands.
Our child gleams; not money, meals
And from beneath his stall he flies
Let us suppose for now he steals,
Does he deserve the upward eyes-
Among the thronging square,
Does desperation in his grasp,
Protect him from the glare,
From the screams, the shake-
The crater left there in the wake
Of the market square, the bright bazaar?

"The one thing that I don't understand is," Buzz began."Why did Zurg choose Andonnie? It isn't in a particularly strategic location, and there isn't anything that can possibly be of interest to him here..." He was poring over a map of Andonnie and the surrounding area that was spread out on a table in Bo's shop. He frowned slightly. "The coal mines aren't of any use to Zurg, and he doesn't even know what a cow is. It just doesn't make any sense."
"Does it really matter why he's attacking?" Bo interjected. "All that matters is that he is."
"If we knew his motives, it would be easier to manipulate him into making a mistake." Buzz glanced up at her. "And Emperor Zurg doesn't make mistakes."
"Well," Jessie began. "We'll just have to improvise." She touched Buzz's arm gently. "We can win this."
Buzz made a "tch" sound. "Yeah, maybe." He picked up the pad he had taken from the crashed spaceship. "According to the schematics I got from the ship, Zurg's forces will land somewhere

They were so close. Just a few more steps and they would have been out of the hailstorm of trash raining down ceaselessly upon them. The efforts even looked heroic on the Space Ranger's part, cradling Jessie as he ran to protect rather than to rescue her. But it all turned tragic. For a second's length, for the first time in Woody's life, the cowboy did not know what to do once the bulky, broken television literally crushed his best friend under its heavy weight.
His cowgirl counterpart had been tossed out of harm's way, a sacrifice on Buzz's part. She would've tried to lift the whole thing herself too, but Woody wouldn't let her do it alone.
When he silently rushed to heave up the boxy electronic, the others followed his example, impelled by the same worry and anxiety he
