All you have to do to participate is to fave this journal, and that's it! Then by tomorrow I'd use a randomizer that shall give me the top two people and that will be the two winners, the winners then can tell me what they will want.

Writing, at its very base, is communication. We write to communicate — with someone else, with ourselves — when we write, we arrange words in a manner that is intended to be read. This is very important because, no matter what or how you write, this one basic fact never changes. If you get stuck at any point, you can come back to this sturdy foundation. I am writing to communicate; what do I want to communicate?
Often, the answer is emotions: how you feel, or how you want your reader to feel. As Gregory Corso wrote, "You must feel! It's beautiful to feel!"
We all feel, but how we express our feels is a matter of perspective. If we are too flippant with our choice of words, our readers will think we are shallow. If we are too brooding and deliberate, our readers may find us incomprehensible. Finding a balance takes work and dedication.
But that work and dedication is what distinguishes

Okay, so this isn't exactly a journal entry. But since I can't be bothered to figure out how to post inline images in the commentary section of regular image posts, you're getting this. Deal with it.
In my perpetual state of ultimate lazyness, this image has been bouncing around for a while, and I'm just now getting around to posting it. And I've had a fair number of questions. So, I think I'll take this opportunity to walk you through some of the happy accidents that fill the days of us artists. That's right, Bob Ross may be the only one who owns up to it, but we all have them.
To me, the most important thing in art is making decisions. In fact, you can break my art philosophy into a tidy little three step triad. Observations -> evaluations -> decisions. That's the important stuff. Everything else is just about
Song Lyrics MemeStep 1: Put your iPod/MP3 player or iTunes on random.Song Lyrics Meme1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. (I took out any instrumental songs, natch, as well as any song where the title is uttered in the first line, so it's not entirely the first 20 songs that came up.)
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from. Those guessing the songs should post in the comments or shoot me an e-mail.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly and post the title in bold after the stricken song when it is guessed.
Step 5: (for those guessing the songs) If you look up the lyrics on Google or any other search engine, that's called cheating, so don't do it!

How To Train Your Dragon 2 was...... well, probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. I said that about the new X-Men movie too but, in this case, Dragon kinda beats the poop out of the X-men. Although, both are wonderful movies. Anyway, " How To Train Your Dragon 2 " was a sight to behold. It was very colorful. The characters are all 5 years older, so Hiccup is 20 now. And they aged them all very well. Hiccup looks pretty cool now... and I like the twin girl too... Tuffnut is it? They did good with her. The boys all have lame facial hair which is funny. The animation on the humans, even though they're " cartoony ", looked incredibly real. The story is actually more about the human characters too which was a pleasant surprise in my opinion. I've been anticipating this flick since the first one came out & was a bit worried it wouldn't happen since it has the cartoon series, but it did. Makes me curious to see what the show is like. I think I did catch a Christmas-ish episode once... and as I recall, if this meHow To Train Your Dragon 2 was...5 months ago in Personal More Like This

World Suicide Prevention Day 2014
Hey guys, Kate here. I’m this year’s Disability and Mental Health Rep at my University so I wrote this article for our Students' Union blog and I just wanted to take a little time to share it here too and to tell you that today is World Suicide Prevention Day. The World Health Organisation considers suicide a global issue and suggests that part of its international plans to combat it include more awareness and understanding of the problem.1 A little bit of this article is specific to my University but most of it is sound advice that everyone should read and consider.
All very interesting, I hear you say, possibly sarcastically. So let’s get serious for a second. When you come to University, a lot of us get told to stay away from drink, drugs, promiscuous sex, darkly lit parts of the city, strangers… the list of perceived dangers is seemingly endless and people love to warn you about them… but s

Types of Artist blues, what helped, what didn'tThere are several artist blues I know of, since I have experienced practically all of them during the past few months since 2011. I will write about how I got them, how I overcome them. What helped, what didn't.Types of Artist blues, what helped, what didn't2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some of these blues are professional freelance blues, happens to those who are making their own series/productions and when there's money and risk involved.
Some of these blues are shared by all artists.
Before the production even starts, the fear of it failing caused me to think about failing instead of success. It makes me hesitate about actually working on the project before I even produce anything.
What helped- Refocus on what I am making the project for, what's the true message I try to convey with the project, make that shine, and try to choose a cheap launch platform that makes it cost-effective.
What didn't help- trying to level up on art skill. It helped with my overall art as work for hire, it didn't help with

Shisha Pipes at Three A.M. ...There's nothing quite like sitting back on pillows in a dim room with painted murals and UV lights discussing the problems of the world and how we can change the future for the better through the aromatic smoke of several shisha pipes with complete strangers. I feel like I can change the world. Maybe not in big ways, but in small, baby steps. I want to finish this animation, I want to get my message out. I want to make a graphic novel that underlines current issues through the eyes of my characters; I want to make a difference. I feel justified in knowing I'm not the only one who thinks like this.
I want to change the world.
... Damn, this sounded so much better in my head at 3a.m. in the cafe toilets when I thought of it.
One of my favorite things about StoryboardsIs coming up with your own method to drawing characters. It's like, making them your own and suddenly it feels like I'm doing boards of my own characters and having them play out in ways unique to me. I constantly struggle with this, ever since I got hired doing board revisions, but as time goes on and I've been watching other artists here in the studio do their thing, I've been inspired time and again to make the characters more and more my own. I may start posting some bot art, obviously nothing from the show because that's a no no, but basically just little doodles in the fashion I enjoy drawing them. One of my favorite things about Storyboards3 years ago in Personal More Like This

And I am super excited to see photos this time around, especially since she's outdoing herself yet again and making new, more exact costumes ...

I am so flattered that people like my characters enough to want to cosplay them, especially when they do such a bang-up job of it. I will not be there, because I live all the way on the other side of the world in Singapore, but anyone over there do say hi! They're friendly people!

In what turned out to be rather tragic turn of events, Volume 2 was never published since Tokyopop as a publishing entity quickly collapsed after I had finished drawing it! But since v2 was COMPLETELY finished, perhaps it’ll follow soon! Anyway if you lost your copy, or wanna get a refresh go check it out at half the original price!
