Shipping: what does RedApropos think? So, someone once told me that as a popular comic artist in the fandom, my opinions travel much farther than I am even aware.Shipping: what does RedApropos think?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
On that note, people ask me/talk to me about shipping. Do I ship ponies?
I do! I ship the fuck out of ponies. These are the pairings I support, or in other words, the best pairings, and the only pairings that aren't dumb (I worded it that way to evoke an emotional response; it may or may not express how I really feel (it does)).
Applejack and Rarity.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash.
Twilight and Rainbow Dash.
Twilight and Trixie.
RedApropos and Applejack (my OTP (just kidding (not really))).
So there you have it. Go on now, start discussions about how they make sense or don't make sense. What are your favourite pairings? I don't give a shit, but someone else in the comments box might!
For goodness sake, people, I don't ship them all at once!
AppleDash OR FlutterDash OR TwiDash.
RariJack OR AppleDash.

WELCOME TO THE
THOSE THREE WORDS
TO FEB 25, 2012
Because I was absent for so long, I've extended it... again.
I'm not gonna be super strict about what time you post it or anything either.
What is the THOSE THREE WORDS contest?
Most people understand "those three words" expresses the phrase "I love you". It's a phrase that's been written in so many songs, scripts, and romantic atmospheres. For example, Snow Patrol's song "Chasing Cars":
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
It's like those three words are the ones that everybody longs to hear. HOWEVER, for this contest, we're changing those three words out for a completely different new set. Let

The Last Shooter: Spec Ops the LineThis discussion came to me while watching a walkthrough of this game and I felt like putting it somewhere. The Last Shooter: Spec Ops the Line3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm generally a fan of Shooter video games. They're fast paced, require a certain amount of skill to complete (the good ones) and are exciting to play with gorgeous vistas, creative monsters, and sometimes interesting plots to unravel like in Bioshock, which I still consider one of the best game plots of all time. Shooters to me are less aggravating then fighting games, less time consuming then roleplaying games, less lonesome generally then puzzle games if you can find friends to co-op. Certainly Shooters have gotten a little samey over the past few thanks to everyone either copying Modern Warfare or Gears of War but some of my fondest gaming memories remain co-opping with my brothers on Halo 3 and having a blast.
I've seldom played a straight up military shooter. My confusion originally lay in why anyone would want to play a video game with such a limited arse

I have NOTHING but good things to say about the folks I’ve had the pleasure of talking to, hanging out with and calling my friends in the My Little Pony fan community. When it comes down to it, everyone is here because of one reason- they like the tiny horse cartoon. Bottom line. I’ve never run into a single instance of the legion creepy, pervy, fedora-wearing, neckbeard misogynist bullies that are claimed to populate every pony-friendly website and convention.
Quite the contrary, I’ve had a wonderful time every step of the way and I appreciate EVERYONE I’ve joined along the ride- bronies and nor/mlp/eople, artists and musicians , VAs and staff, men, women, kids a

The AvengersYou know that giddy, gleeful feeling that renders you incapable of doing little more than giggle like a lunatic? The Avengers3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I pretty much had that from start to finish during the Avengers film (Which was released on Fair Blighty's shores as "Avengers Assemble" thanks to the past efforts of Steed and Peel).
There have only been a handful of movies that invoked that kind of response in me: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Abram's Star Trek, Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and the first Iron Man film are those which immediately spring to mind.
Indeed; Avengers is THE best Marvel movie since Iron Man. Ace cast, brilliant story, hysterical script, a scene that will stab anyone that's followed the films leading up to this point right through the heart and a fair few more surprises.
Chief among them being; how the hell did the Hulk become such a f**king awesome character after so many naff films?
I'm gonna go see this one again!

As the Mayan Calendar doesn't take leap years into account; 2012 has been and gone.

PE Street, children, is a state of mindSTREET, CHILDREN, IS A STATE OF MINDPE Street, children, is a state of mind2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Street, children, is a state of mind: what defines street photography is not the subject, but the 'forma mentis' of the photographer.
Street photography is a way to look at the ordinary and see something special or unusual in it, to look at everyday situations and find a decisive moment in them, to look at candid happenings and see iconic interactions between people and surroundings in them.
The iN-PUBLiC | Manifesto, one of the most representative sites about street photography in the world, states that "all the photographers featured there have been invited to show their work because they have the ability to see the unusual in the everyday life and to capture the moment".
The subject of a street photo is not necessarily interesting, unusual, unseen in itself, but its strenght comes from the NARRATIVE CONSTRUCTION that the photographer is able to create around the subject. The way the photographer presents it,

On Humor and Grittyness in Movies/Video GamesI'm getting really sick of the idea that the only good action movies or video games are ones where everything is all serious and dark. It's the whole "gritty" concept blown to extremes. But through all the countless games I've played and movies I've watched, I think that we could back off a bit from being too damn serious and have some fun once in a while. On Humor and Grittyness in Movies/Video Games2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Take the latest Die Hard movie as a prime example. From the start it's a dark, gritty, almost monochromatic movie with a 20 minute car chase sequence at the beginning so over-the-top that it's almost cartoony. But the way it's shot is atrocious and there's no character development what-so-ever that 40 minutes into the film I was looking at the clock wondering not only "when will this be over," but also "what the f*** did I just watch?"
Contrast that to something like Independence Day. People like to rag on Independence Day because it's so "goofy" and "absurd." But what helps the film is that we're given time to enjoy the characters s

There was a bit of confusion at the store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down facing me."
Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.
When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card.
I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.
They need to make their instructions to senior citizens a little clearer!

Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map

On the magic in discovery.I've been bothered by something recently. On the magic in discovery.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Something that, at times when I really begin to think about it (such as now), is incredibly depressing.
That thing is how cartoons and any other show or movie I love has a certain element of magic in it that, when released, is difficult to recapture. This is something that I think is common to most people these days, at least the ones in my culture. We watch TV shows, like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, or whatever else strikes our fancy, and it fills us with happiness. This happiness is as potent as it is temporary. This is something that is at once incredible and depressing.
Incredible, because something as simple as a children's TV show can ignite passion, drive creativity, and most importantly create genuine happiness and joy.
Depressing, because that same joy that the show generates is fleeting and temporary, and it takes a great deal of time for that magic to build back u
