A truncated rhombic triacontahedron. I feel like I made it too colorful; Six colors (instead of the 30 here) would've worked just as well, if not better. Anyway, the name implies that there's order to the colors chosen, and it's true: The pentagons are surrounded by their complementary color, or as close to it as I could get (red pentagon surrounded by green units, blue pentagon surrounded by orange units, etc).

The idea and design were totally not stolen from *Kessukoofah. Nope. Not at all.

60 108° penultimate units and 60 PHiZZ units.

Here's a pic of the rose with a stem :)

My skills of making stems are still pretty bad. But hey, it looks better than the previous ones!

EDIT: I see lots of people really like this rose :) I know you'll be eager for diagrams of some sort, but at the moment, I have no diagrams and no idea on how I should be diagramming a pentagon :(

I'll see what i can do for you guys, but in the mean time, you guys might be interested in the square version I did before:

All diagrams can be found here on my blog:

EDIT EDIT: I've put up a CP, for you advanced folders. I'm still not diagramming it, as I will continue to improve upon this :)

Thanks for all your compliments.

Swirly Truncated Icosahedron
Origami Unit Fantasy
Tomoko Fuse

Amount of units: 270 units
worktime: up to 10 hours
size: 10-15 cm
difficulty: medium
notes: Very nice looking buckyball, very easy units, weak connections made it harder to assembly. Anyway I really enjoyed making this ball. I begun making right after Christmas and with long break I finished it just after exams session. Really enjoyable stuff and probably I'll make something big very soon :)

Pokręcony Dwudziestościan Ścięty
Origami Unit Fantasy
Tomoko Fuse

ilość modułów: 270 modułów
czas pracy: do 10 godzin

by uploading this files
i can say i feel happy, proud and honored
happy that i finished it, of course :aww:
but proud and honored, that i had the chance to build it

with this model i finished my first collaboration with an other dA member

ok, i know you all wanna download as fast as possible the model sheets, but i write this anyway, because it means a lot to me.

in the center of 2010 i started to ask some 3d artists about their models and if they would share it for a papercraft project.

i recieved a lot rejections but :icongriphinator: Griphinator was the first who agreed and send me the mesh of his Spidertank
:2010 03: AI Spidertank v.3 by Griphinator:2010 03: AI Spidertank v.2 by Griphinator:2010 03: AI Spidertank by Griphinator

so give him a big hand too :)

well, i had a lot of problems in the last part of the year and it took a bit longer, more that i expected
but finally
i...... we can bring you this :)

and i guess, not even Griph expected that rotating system of the top :D

But this model has also another important background for me
not only it's a very cool mecha design and a reference for upcoming collaborations
i hope it's a wakeup call for other 3d artists, that there are freaks out there with a lot of skill, who would love to take your visions into reality ;)

ok, but now to the model :D
with downloading this file, you get three pdo's

one with folding lines and texture (lined)
one with folding lines but without texture (white label)
and one without folding lines but with texture (lineless)

so you need as always the Pepakura Viewer which you can download here

the lineless version is hard, specialy when you reduce the objectivity of the cut lines

i printed the sheets with 20% objectivity and it was not easy

the pdo's are not protected, so you can still change the size with the Pepakura Desinger

because it's an OC of :icongriphinator: Griph you will NOT get texture this time

the model comes on 12 pages with 68 pieces

some word to the bloggers

ok, normaly i'm mister nice guy
but this is important for me
because this is a collab, you have to give credits to :icongriphinator: Griph too!
otherwise i can't allow it to write a blog entry

you have the permission to use my photos
you DON'T have the permission to use the renders of Griph
except he write it here in the comments ore you ask him about it

this model is a Deviantart only download
so do not upload this model somewhere else
and the most important thing

this model is free and should it be
so let it be!

to download the model
click on the download button on the right side
you can thank dA for, that i can't write the direct link anymore

and trust me, i search for my stuff ;)

if you wanna write a critique
feel free
but don't critique the model itself

Kamiya's Ancient dragon - download the huge composite image for more details.

This seems to be a very popular model (and for good reason). I've finally managed to fold one. My previous attempts have involved the use of wrapping paper (which ripped very easily) and lokta (didn't rip but couldn't hold a fold very well).

I finally took the time to buy a roll of 24" parchment tracing paper to fold complex models such as this one. I didn't find the folding sequence to be particularly difficult; it just took a while.

Diagrammed in "Works of Satoshi Kamiya 1995 - 2003". Folded from a 24" by 24" uncut square of parchment
