The "Fire" type is unique in its members' ability to create or control fire. Apparently, their cells are protected with a flame-retardant cocktail, while sulfur, phosphorus, and carbon are stored in special organs to produce the flame. These Pokemon tend to be colored with "warm" tones, and since they are virtually fire-proof, can live in incredibly hot conditions (e.g. the inside of a volcano). Fire Pokemon tend to devour metals and minerals straight from the rock, since their cells are unable to properly digest normal food.
"Water"-type Pokemon are generally aquatic or partially so. There is not much of a cellular difference between Water types and Normal types, but they do possess the ability to absorb and release vast quantities of water. Some such Pokemon have the ability to change the weather, generate a wall of concentrated water, and even blast a never-seen plasma form of water.
The "Grass" type is similar in ways to the Bug type, but instead of a primitive mite livi
A Study in Pokemon TaxonomyThe science and practice of organizing and classifying Pokémon into a coherent ordering that does not directly contradict the already well-established taxonomy of all other life forms is a daunting task that has troubled Pokémon biologists for some time due to several main factors: the general differences between Pokémon and other life forms at the cellular level; contrary to that, the similarities in body structure of many Pokémon and similar animals; the dilemma of whether to count Pokémon as more closely related by Elemental type or by body structure; and the lack of any sort of clear pattern of common decent amongst Pokémon, contrary to most other categories of life.A Study in Pokemon Taxonomy4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The first and foremost point that must be addressed in Pokémon Biology is their inherent cellular energy signature. This is the reason why Pokémon's cell structure can be easily destabilized and compressed into energy for storing inside a Poké ball. It
TiPB: Shiny PokemonMany pokemon trainers are motivated by the desire to capture the strongest pokemon, and to use it to battle the best pokemon owned by others. Other trainers look for the rare, collecting them as status symbols. And perhaps no pokemon bespeaks the luxury of rarity like a 'shiny' pokemon.TiPB: Shiny Pokemon4 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
Shiny pokemon are extraordinarily rare. It is estimated that only 1 in approximately 8000 pokemon are born an alternate color. Thus, shiny pokemon are valued highly by collectors, and may fetch prices of thousands of dollars at auction.
'Shiny' may be a misnomer. Pokemon with alternate colorations can vary greatly from the 'normal' pigment, or be only a few shades off. They may be darker or lighter, or a different color entirely, resulting from many unique mutations. Thus, the designation of 'shiny' does not adequately encompass the diversity of alternate-color pokemon. However, it is the common term used.
There is generally only one official, registered alternate color for each pokemon species, but oth

Charizard are large, draconic Fire-type Pokémon, and the fully evolved form of Charmander, a species recognized as official Pokémon League Starters. As such, Charizard are relatively rare in the wild, and their habitats are under strict protection and regulation by the League. Charmander are commonly bred in captivity and distributed to beginning Pokémon Trainers, so it is not uncommon for experienced trainers to possess Charizard.
Charizard are upright-postured orange-scaled reptiles with a stocky build. Their long necks are slender, as are their skulls. The long forelimbs are built rather differently than most reptiles, being held out to the side with a rotating shoulder suited to grasping and climbing. The hind legs are short and heavy, with thick, blunt claws for digging into cliffsides. Charizard sport a third pair of lim

Mewtwo is a transgenic Pokémon widely considered to be one of the most powerful Pokémon in the world. Its body is tall and overbearing with a distinctly humanoid anatomy. The head is the only part that is catlike, with pointed ears and the typical feline jaw structure. Connecting the rear of the head to the upper back is a tubular bundle of nerves, which serve to amplify Mewtwo's already powerful brain. The upper body and arms are lean and sinewy, with the chest covered by a solid plate of bone. By contrast, the lower half of the body is rounded and well-built, with extremely large thigh muscles. Like Mew, Mewtwo's fur is very short and fine, but the coloring is a pale violet. The tail is long, thick, and hairless.
One rather unusual aspect of Mewtwo is that blood samples confirm it to be chromosomally male, however, it was engineered to

Lucario is a bipedal canid Pokémon sometimes referred to as the "Guardian of Aura" or the "Wave-Guiding Hero" for its energy-sensory and manipulation. Its structure is vaguely humanoid with a thin waist and large hind legs, much like Blaziken. The skull is unique-its snout protrudes outward from the face, but the mandible only reaches about halfway, resulting in a prominent nose. Its eyes are large and angular, with vivid red irises. The ears are long and delicately controlled by many different muscles. Like humans, it has a rotating shoulder joint, only surrounded by a thick bone cuff. Bone spikes jut out from its wrists and sternum. Like all canids, Lucario walks on its toes. The bone structure in its legs is highly unique, with its femur and foot bones both nearly twice as long at the tibia. Its thigh muscles are the largest and most powerful in its body, giving it the ability t
Studies in PokespeechAlmost everyone is aware of the fact that, as many Pokémon were named for their cries, Pokémon speech often consists of their name spoken over and over. I have long found the subject of Pokéspeech to be a fascinating one, as it is clear that Pokémon have much more to say than mere animals. In fact, I envision a world where humans and their Pokémon may freely communicate. Pokémon seem highly adept at picking up new languages, able to clearly understand their trainers in a remarkably short amount of time. Some wild Pokémon have come into contact with enough humans through battling that they already understand a large amount of human speech without being trained! But despite this wonderful aptitude, their vocal restrictions prevent us from being to understand them quite as well.Studies in Pokespeech4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

Poke Ball EssayPokémon are different from all other life in that their cellular structure is energy-based. This makes them the only things on earth whose chemical makeup can be quickly and easily converted into energy and compressed. This can be accomplished a number of different ways, but the most common and easiest is through the Poke ball.Poke Ball Essay4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Humans discovered that by hollowing out Apricorns, Pokémon could be shrunk down and contained inside--though they didn't really understand how (A substance in apricorns can be refined in a way that destabilizes a Pokemon's cellular structure). Today's Poké balls are much more complex. Capturing a Pokémon simply requires physical contact with it--the impact activates sensors that detect the Pokémon, open the ball and convert the Pokémon into energy, drawing it in.
A Pokémon can prevent its own capture in a number of different ways. Simplest of all, it can dodge or attack the ball in any way that would keep it from making contact
Grass Pokemon Care GuidelinesBasicsGrass Pokemon Care Guidelines3 years ago in Profiles More Like This
Grass Pokemon are much like plants, in that they require the basics of air, water, nutrients and exposure to sunlight. Being Pokemon, grass types have a lot in common with animals in that they are able to get their own food and can take care of most of these requirements on their own. However, like any other Pokemon, one must take care of them. They require attention and love, as well as a trip to a Pokemon Center for a checkup every once in a while.
Pruning and Weeding
Most Grass Pokemon will require a certain amount of pruning to keep them comfortable. This depends on the amount of foliage present on the grass type. The exceptions to this rule would be Tangela and Tangrowth, who are actually made of vines, and should only have dead vines removed from their tangled 'tresses'. Any attempts to remove living vines will cause discomfort to the Pokemon.
When removing detritus from a Grass Pokemon, one needs to take care not to hurt the Pokemon by trimming them down too

The "Normal" type of Pokemon tends to have a Terran sort of cell structure. In many ways, they behave like normal animals, sometimes being confused for such. However, the "moves" Normal-type Pokemon can use vary greatly from the Earthly norm. With Normal-type powers and abilities, some Pokemon have the capacity to regenerate themselves, move at speeds unknown to other animals, shoot concentrated beams of energy, and even explode.
"Flying" type of Pokemon seem to be some offshoot of the Normal type, and as a rule tend to have wings or some kind of flight apparatus. Like Fighting-type Pokemon, they have hyper-dense muscle, but only in the muscles along and around the wings. This allows Pokemon of the Flying type to generate enormous aerial force, some even able to cut things with their wings or generate G-force winds.
"Bug" types tend to be quite interesting, as they generally share a symbiotic relationship with a sort of non-Pokemon creature, the Blood Mite (Sanguiparvulus utiliparasitu

Pokemon Energy ManipulationAs everyone knows, Pokemon are capable of manipulating spectacular amounts of energy; however, this unique and magnificent trait is not entirely due to the Pokemon's physical organ systems and adaptations, but also to a little-understood manipulation of antimatter and 'grid energy', a postulated energy field dividing the universe from a mirroring anti-matter universe.Pokemon Energy Manipulation3 years ago in Settings More Like This
In particle physics, antimatter is composed of antiparticles in the same way that normal matter is composed of particles. Thus, mixing matter and antimatter can lead to the annihilation of both, giving rise to high-energy photons (gamma rays) or other particle-antiparticle pairs. The energy field that divides the universe of matter from anti-matter is composed entirely of near-limitless potential energy that can be modified and controlled to suit a wide range of purposes.
Additionally, through entirely enigmatic means, Pokemon are somehow able to tap into this 'grid energy'. The particular usage of this energy is governed
Elemental Type Report-ElectricNo special energy type is more complex and interesting than the Electric type. Within the type are a surprising number of subtypes, differing manners of handling energy, and methods of utilizing it. The Electric type is officially classified as a special attack type due to the fact that the majority of attack and abilities rely on the Pokémon's energy strength (with some exceptions owing to techniques like Thunderpunch that rely more on physical strength.)Elemental Type Report-Electric4 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Like all Pokémon, Electric types generate an incredible amount of energy within their bodies. Differences between different species, however, owe more to the way that this power is handled, rather than physical characteristics, unlike many other types. Because of this, Electric types cannot be readily separated into subtypes based upon unrelated abilities. Subtypes must be separated into two categories based upon energy generation and manifestation.

Pokemon 'Evolution'Although the term "Pokemon evolution" has become popularized due to common usage by trainers, most Pokemon professors will tell you that Pokemon "evolution" is actually a metamorphic process of development. Naturally, in the wild this metamorphic shift occurs much slower than for those Pokemon bred and trained in captivity.Pokemon 'Evolution'3 years ago in Settings More Like This
Pokemon evolution is a biological process by which a Pokemon physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and abrupt change in the creature's body structure through cell growth and differentiation. This change is sometimes accompanied by a change of habitat or behavior as well.
Almost all Pokemon undergo a marked change in from, texture and physical appearance as a process of maturing from a juvenile to an adult. These "evolutions" may have either hemimetabolous development (only one advanced stage), or holometabolous development, which includes a resting stage between the infant and adult forms.
The growth and metamorphosis of Pokemon are co

Analysis of the Water-typeINTRODUCTIONAnalysis of the Water-type3 years ago in Profiles More Like This
The Water-type is a universal type across the planet and effectively defines both the existence of a significant number of Pokémon and where life in general first began. Though it might not have as many powerful fighters as other types, the Water-type is about as well-rounded in terms of offenses and defenses as one can get and is equally great in offensive and defensive battles as well as tactical matches and offers a great variety of creatures for trainers to work with at a young age. As such, it comes as no surprise that it is often chosen along with the Grass and Fire-types as one of the key types that beginning trainers can choose from and serves to act as the defensive type in the trio, balancing out the offenses of the Fire-type and the tactical abilities of the Grass-type nicely. Most of the creatures assigned to the type may not be the best at battling in many cases, but for those willing to give it a try, there are few opponents that will be able to easily p
