American Internet Censorship Bill Part 2Yesterday I posted a journal about my thoughts on the American Internet Censorship Bill that was being voted on by the House of Representatives. Within minutes of me posting I found out that the bill was defeated by a majority vote (though a very close one). So for now our precious internet is free once again, but it also raises an entirely different discussion...American Internet Censorship Bill Part 24 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of the comments I saw on the various websites I went to dealt with upholding the true definition of "freedom" on the internet. It was quite apparent that a lot of people who were upset at the idea of internet censorship were more or less concerned that they might have to be held responsible for their bad behavior online.
See, we all participate in illegal activity online. If you've ever downloaded a movie, or used a torrent, or uploaded images that weren't your own, or played an emulated NES game, or even uploaded video clips from a TV show to YouTube... you're technically participating in illegal activity.

teach me how to hide in the atmosphere

with only the wind to rescue
and when the wind comes
you can land anywhere
and anywhere can be the sea
and the sea can be the memory
that there is no rift between anywhere
and you are an ampersand
with no nouns to stand between
you connect all the spaces
there are no words for
your molecules are continents with no name
their coastlines know
that there is no such thing as discovery
and your breath of knowledge
can be the library of the wind
let the current take you wherever you need to go
and just know, that if you were to collide with concrete
it is not a crash
it is but a silent whispering in your own bones
buried under the earth's skin
and you are home
you are home.

Have you ever wondered why there have been so many strong earthquakes recently? Well, recently meaning the past few years.
People seem to think that something is going wrong with the Earth and that someone is responsible for it. While that is true in many ways, earthquakes aren't one of those things.
There are 2 reasons why there are more earthquakes now than a few years ago.
Reason 1: Media Coverage
As civilization expands, we get news from provinces previously unreachable. If there were a strong earthquake in a small Chinese town somewhere and nowhere, you wouldn't have heard of it in the past. But nowadays, these things are reported. In other words, the number of earthquakes didn't increase, but the number of earthquakes that are reported!
Reason 2: Chain Reactions
Apart from the effect of wider media attention, the frequency of strong earthquakes really has increased ever since 2004. Do you remember? It was the year of the great Sumatra-Andaman earthquake that
You don't know it, but your pet is actually a...One day, Phillip Buster had an idea. Not many people lived on the Earth yet, and his tribe relied on hunting and gathering to survive. Wolves were good at hunting, he mused. Wouldn't it be interesting to have them work for him?You don't know it, but your pet is actually a...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
He managed to get some wolves into possession and carefully put them together to have cubs. Neither Jeans nor genes were known at his time, but Phillip did know that children looked different from their parents and also exhibited different personalities. Maybe the wolves would eventually have an offspring that his tribe could use.
Genes are the blueprints of a being, how it is shaped, how it grows and in many ways even how it behaves. But these blueprints don't copy perfectly. There are small alterations, changes, and so a new animal would always be slightly different from the animals that came before. Perhaps it would have the tendency to be more playful, or it may be better at sniffing, or it may be friendlier towards other beings, such as Phillip himself.

Now, I know you're probably getting sick of me adding challenges when you feel you haven't had time to finish the last one I put up. I remind you, you don't have to do all the challenges. You don't have to finish any of these by a deadline. I'm adding all of these challenges to give members choices for challenges. Namely if the 100 Theme Challenge is too much to take on at the moment. so, don't get frustrated if I post a few of these.
I'm posting these challenges now because it's almost January. These challenge pieces can be done one a month. So, have fun!

Cleaning your freakin' roomHaving ADHD gives you a lot of trouble through life, most of them aren't that big of a problem, but there's two main problems which is concentration and organizing.Cleaning your freakin' room4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I am an expert at making stashes of stuff. Mostly old bills I've already paid but haven't get rid off my desk. And since I travel to school by train, I leave my home as soon as I wake up, and then come back around midnight. Which means I'm too tired to actually fix the growing mess.
And as time goes by, the more and more stashes and dirty clothes on your floor and all those comics you bought to read but never have time to read, will create a chaos that would make the chaos-god Discord purple of envy.
And during the weekends, my ADHD-brain tells me more or less that "there is no mess, it's your own organized chaos! Now go draw something cool!".
But every second month (or more...) I get this rush of frustration.
I call this "BLITZKRIEG CLEANING".
The title says it all. Clean the fucking room. And do it qu
Year-long absence, year-long project.Upon completing my 365 day project in 2013, I had plans to create another year lapse project, something to keep me on my toes everyday. The 365 seconds project caught my eye and I’ve been taking clips everyday through the whole 2014. Most of it was spent in Melbourne, a(n almost) full year away from Malaysia, some days were static, slow, and uneventful, some days were exciting, happening, full of surprises, some days had so many cool stuff happening I couldn’t just settle for one clip.Year-long absence, year-long project.9 months ago in Personal More Like This
This has been said often enough, but 2014 has been a pretty rich year for me.
In 2014 I turned 21 three times, celebrated Chinese New Year Eve at a 7-Eleven in Taiwan, suffocated from pink powder, had my first art exhibition, joined MUMSU as a committee member, started to understand the concept of Friday Nights, spent close to a month backpacking in New Zealand, dove off a ledge 400m above Queenstown with only a harness tied around my waist, experienced falling snow for the first time, t

I can honestly say that I grew up with this community and everyone here has taught me so much, and not just about art, but also on how to be a person. When I first got this account at the age of 12, I could have never imagined how much it has shaped my life and career. It sounds cliche but I probably wouldn't have became an artist if it hadn't been for everyone here on deviantART. Through all of the ups and downs in life, the community has always been the support and inspiration that kept me going.
I hope to give back as much as everyone has given me. I will continue to create more comics, tutorials and art in the future. I will never stop, and I have you all to thank for that.
So truly, thank you!

I'd probably not recommend you try to emulate my style or my way or working.
What I would recommend though is that you try to go outside and sketch, sketch people in the street, people walking, sitting, getting up, taking off their clothes or putting them back on, people hugging, people fighting, people in conversation in a group, people on the bus, swimming, dancing, eating, ( lot's of eating as it is pretty hard to convey exactly the feeling of eating), sleeping, people thinking... If you want to tell stories, most of your images should have people thinking.. that's what is going to make your images come alive.
Use a tablet if you have one, a sharpie, a pastel, a rock dipped in ink..anything that can make a mark.
The tool is cool, but secondary.. first.. you n

My skin was not always baby-smooth. Throughout my teenage years I had what is known as cystic acne. Life was depressing. I can't say which kind of acne is worse, all-over surface type, or one single giant zit-from-hell in the middle of your forehead. I had the second kind. I was extremely self-concious, and I wouldn't have dared to take stock photos had I not found a way to clear up my skin. Day-to-day, I took my stress out by picking at my skin. You can't see it in my photos now, but I do have some permanent damage from skin-picking. It's a reminder that self-harm is self-harm. You don't have to be taking a razorblade to you

Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming4 years ago in Personal More Like This
