Suggested Soundtrack: "You and I" by One Direction | Artwork by agnes-cecile
I figured it out from black and white.
Seconds and hours.
Maybe they had to take some time.
I know how it goes from wrong and right.
Silence and sound.
Did they ever hold each other tight
Did they ever fight
We can make it 'til the end.
Nothing can come between
Not even the Gods above
Can separate the two of us.
I figured it out.
Saw the mistakes of up and down.
Meet in the middle.
There's always room for common ground.

I see what it's like for day and night.

No More Unauthorized ArtworkRegarding the debate of whether comic artists should continue selling unauthorized prints/sketches of characters they don't own, I think Bissette and his legal advisor are 100% correct. So from now on, I won't be doing any sketches or commissions at shows of any character that I don't own. Am I rolling over in fear of Marvel? Maybe, but as it states below, they're in their legal right to come after me if there's ever a dispute. I love to complain about the Big Two, but I can't (in good conscience) get upset at them if I'm breaking the rules myself. Being DC exclusive, maybe I can get a waiver that allows me to sketch DC characters, so I'll keep you updated. No More Unauthorized Artwork3 years ago in Personal More Like This

The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)Howdy friends,The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
There has been an exciting development!
A couple of months ago, the folks at Chaosium Inc. [ http://www.chaosium.com/ ], the publishers of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game, confirmed their desire to publish The Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers). When I received word I immediately began revising the now almost two-year-old text and illustrations to ensure that the print version is of the highest possible quality. I am currently about a third of the way through this process, and thought it would be good time to let you all know that the oft-requested dead tree edition of this story looks like it is actually becoming a reality.
I continue to be grateful for the encouragement of the folks around here, and I look forward to updating you all with any further news as it arrives.
In the meantime, I'm posting up the pages of The Statement of Randolph Carter (for beginning readers) I was working on when the word came through from Ch

5 Comic Book Truths (that I don't think are true)There are lots of tips, chestnuts, and other pieces of advice that I've heard over the years--tidbits of wisdom passed on from one generation to the next, from professional to professor to prospective student. Some of them are drawing tips, some of them are tricks to dealing with publishers, and some are general guidelines on how to survive in comics. Most of them are useful and true and will stand the test of time, but a few of them have become hackneyed platitudes and have gone unquestioned for too long. Here are 5 that I'm questioning...5 Comic Book Truths (that I don't think are true)10 months ago in Personal More Like This
1. READERS WILL ONLY LOOK AT A PANEL FOR 5 SECONDS, SO DON'T SWEAT IT TOO MUCH.
I understand the intention of this bit of wisdom, and I mostly agree with it: drawing great interiors is important, but at the same time, you don't want to get bogged down with small details that most readers won't even notice.
But here's my concern with this: if you treat every panel like it's disposable, then you're less likely to make an impact with reader
10 Random Facts About MeCopied this from my tumblr 'cuz I really wanted something new in my journal space. Enjoy!10 Random Facts About Me7 months ago in Personal More Like This
1. I have a scar on top of each hand, a long one across my left knuckles and small one between the metacarpals of my thumb and forefinger on the right. Both scars are from my cats’ back feet when they tried to use my hands as a launch pad. I actually like the scars because long after my cats are gone, I’ll have something to remember them by.
2. I played alto saxophone as hobby during my school years. My parents, not realizing I still played it, sold my my sax just after I graduated. If I ever got my hands on another one, I’d love to pick it back up again.
3. I was also the only guy in my high school’s Color Guard. I spin a mean flag and rifle. Though I initially resisted (honest), I ended up dating three of the girls on the team.
4. My all-time favorite song is
The presence of feathers in Dinosauria in 6 pointsThis is the long awaited post for my point of view on this question. I finally finished it inspired by the recent post of the deviantartist karkajou1993.The presence of feathers in Dinosauria in 6 points3 years ago in Personal More Like This
EDIT: Now there is an updated and corrected blog post of this entry! Check it out: http://ktboundary-smnt2000.blogspot.it/#!/2013/01/the-presence-of-feathers-in-dinosauria.html
EDIT 2: the blog version has been updated with some new infos after an interesting post by Matt Martyniuk (link: http://dinogoss.blogspot.it/2013/09/youre-doing-it-wrong-dino-foot-scales.html). Go to read it!
1 - The ancestor of Dinosauria is feathered. Now we have proof that feathers were present both in theropods (Sinosauropteryx, Epidexipteryx, Velociraptor, Beipiaosaurus, Dilong, Anchiornis, etc..) other than ornithischians (Tianyulong, Psittacosaurus). Even i
Details on the Cassandra Cain Black Bat outfitDon't mind this journal entry, I'm mainly typing this up to reference to when I upload some good photo's after Fan Expo on Saturday.Details on the Cassandra Cain Black Bat outfit3 years ago in Personal More Like This
My main references for Cass' Black Bat were from Red Robin 25 http://static.tumblr.com/yl0t4fw/j7Om0cetj/red_robin_25.jpg (Can we just have more stories of Cass and Tim working together please? You know... if DC ever actually BRINGS CASS BACK?) and Gates of Gotham.
I'm planning to do Cass' Batgirl outfit as well (I'm so excited!), but my sewing skills are really lacking, and so I wanted to practice by sewing Black Bat first (easier, in my opinion).
So here are some details on the costume:
I've actually been trying to grow my hair out, since I've always had it at shoulder length or shorter, so I decided against cutting my hair for this.
Also, I prefer using wigs whenever I cosplay.
I pretty much just bought a simple black wig, and cut and styled it.
At the moment, I have to restyle it, as I'm unsatisfied with how it looks. :/
Botany for PaleoartistsAfter being repeatedly told that this is a good thing to do, I started a series of articles about botany to show paleoartists some of the interesting diversity of Mesozoic plant groups. Not all ferns are green and boring, for example. Neither were they back in the Mesozoic.Botany for Paleoartists1 month ago in Personal More Like This
So, the first part is a photographic tour of modern fern diversity spiced with information about their fossil record and ecology. I want to see paleoart with red ferns, grass-like ferns, huge ferns that look like horse chestnuts and aquatic ferns that look like four-leaved clovers. There's more to come.
Here's the article: http://hummingdinosaur.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/not-all-ferns-look-like-ferns-botany-for-paleoartists-part-i/

TransgenderSo ... yeah ... Finally ... Im here writting this <3Transgender1 year ago in Personal More Like This
First of all, I will explain a little all this .. whole process and how many times had thought of doing this ...
Before I birth, my father always wanted a boy in the family .. (at the end we were 3 girls) I been the first to born, so...my father had insisted on treating me like a boy, football ... cars ... I think the only Barbies I had were for my grandmother, even that I never got to play with them a while. Finally I grew up with these hobbies, especially football, and my behavior wasn't very feminine, in fact, I always was called "tomboy" and I ignored them...yes, I was in my "yupi" world you know x'D... and later it wasn't only football.. basketball too. I wasn't very good at school x'D
The fact is that at age 14, I lost my "father". Since I was little I was always very close to my grandparents and i live in his house since then, my parents and I have never been so close, my grandparents are my "parents" .. and .. when I lost
Story of Putting on Kneesock and Limo Prank***WARNING: THIS IS A SUPER LONG AND DETAILED POST!***Story of Putting on Kneesock and Limo Prank3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I get a lot of questions on how waselreins and I did the body makeup for our demon sisters cosplays. So here I'll tell ya'll how we did it, in addition to the whole story about the limo entrance. With pictures!!
On Saturday morning, I woke up at 5 AM to get ready for Kneesock. The limo was going to pick us up at 12:45 PM and I had to help the others get ready so I woke up the earliest to do as much of myself as I could. After the necessary prepping (shower/wash face/brush teeth/moisturize) I put in my contacts and wig cap first.
I used Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Paint in red for my face and ears. I was told afterwards it's pretty bad for your skin so next time I'm gunna use Kryolan or Mehron, but for Fanime Ben Nye worked perfectly fine for me. Here's a bit more info on it here: http://stageandtheatermakeup.com/bnmagiaq.htm
Instead of water to spray onto the red makeup I used LiquiSet and a foundation brush to apply it to my face.

When I was about 13, I came home from school and saw my older sister on the computer. I asked her when Mom was going to be home cause I needed her to sign my folder for my teacher. My sister just shrugged and said.
'She's at the hospital.'
I stopped and asked my sister why she was there and I was told, ' She got sick or something and had to have surgery.' I freaked out. I wanted to go to the hospital, I wanted to make sure my mom was okay and my sister told me she would be back in two days and stop freaking out. HOW CAN I?! Well I spent those two days waiting for my mom, praying she was okay until she returned.
When the two days went by, I ran home and found my mom sitting in the living room looking worn out and sleepy and I rushed at her to hug her. She had blankets and ice packs on her chest and

The Comfort of Mindless Obedience
When is information true and useful and when is it just “propaganda?” Why in fact is an image or phrase or animated art sequence “propaganda” rather than it simply being a “lie?” What about acceptable lies that define our society as much as they degrade it - - for example commercials that obviously hype a product with untruths or political advertisements full of unachievable platitudes.

STOP, THIEF!!(Edit: Over 160,000 people have read this Journal entry already, so don't miss it!)STOP, THIEF!!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Ha ha ha, best headline ever.
Good, you opened this journal. Don't worry, no art theft shenanigans have transpired that triggered this entry. I merely want to share my thoughts on "ripping off" and "originality" with you, both as an artist and novelist who's been on the Internet for 12 years.
This is not a rant - it's strictly comical, but also educational. I'm known for my laid-back, funny and matter-of-fact attitude
I'll give you a different point of view today, because if there is something I despise more than art theft, it's people accusing others of it. Anti art theft ninjas, also known as: people who have likely not had enough science in school. They often have no compelling evidence. They often have wrong evidence (even worse). They often do it on a whim, a feeling. And they rarely do it silently, rampaging publicly instead, thus driving a witch hunt.
First of all, let me tell you something th
The GapsMuch as the Victorians would never have envisioned the coming of the Martians, none outside of the Timecasters had any notion of what was impending; and the Flux knew this. They planned accordingly, for this was a war of proxies. In their eyes, they imagined that the Temporians were much as they were; a parasite, a symbiote attached to a larger entity. So as the Immortal Empire hosted the Ascendancy, the logic went, so worked the Temporians through the Dark City Imperium. In their eyes, this was akin to a brush war, though a brush war that was rapidly escalating into something else. With their name spreading in the galactic far east, the Ascendancy felt an increasing calling to a more compelling sort of action; it was only through the petitions of Dassus, who himself was urged on by the hopes and fears of the Union of World’s emperor, that had prevented Dorin from conducting a suicidal charge of extermination across an unaware galaxy. The Gaps9 months ago in Personal More Like This

Top 5 Mistakes (I've made over the years)To many people in comics, I only arrived a few years ago with Joe the Barbarian. Then came Hellblazer (completed in 2008 before I began working on Joe), American Vampire: SOTF, and finally Punk Rock Jesus. Once in a while someone will mention Off Road (an OGN I did with Oni back in 2004), but for the most part it seems like I've been published only these last few years when in fact I've been published professionally for a decade now.Top 5 Mistakes (I've made over the years)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This isn't a plea to have everyone go back through my previous work--in fact, I'm glad that a lot of the books I've done over the years aren't on readers' radars. I'm proud of it all, but the books above are a nice, tight group of titles to be associated with. They're all in a similar brand, they're all recent, they all have good creators/publishers associated with them, and the artwork is mostly consistent. Go back further than that, and you'll see artwork that looks nothing like the stuff I'm doing these days. (Although Off Road still holds up to some de
