A sketch that I've been working on instead of paying attention in class, playing around with Photoshop CS5 which I'm entirely not used to when it comes to painting. Used a pallete from my favorite of Fox's alternate costumes in Super Smash Brothers Brawl just for fun.
This is my Avian character from Starbound (if it wasn't obvious enough.) The original from the game is in the corner, but I added stuff to my version and/or changed things I wasn't sure about. His name is Fluffeyes because I'm not very creative with naming my characters and I also pressed the randomize button. But I'll probably give him a different name sooner or later. Also, don't ask my why there's a barrel on his back. He doesn't like to talk about it. Though I will say that he's probably cuter in the game than he is in real life. I mean, look at those big, pixelated eyes. You can't deny those.
Wait, holy shit, is that an actual male character that I drew? Goddamn.
I should also probably add that I don't own Starbound but I do own the art. So I guess Chucklefish can use this if they really want to, since it's not my game.
As a kid, my brothers and I collected hundreds of issues of Sonic The Comic, and I spent my days happily drawing picture after picture of the blue spikey one. When i stopped collecting them (after they started printing repeats) I eventually turned to Marvel and have been drawing superheroes ever since. However, to lift my mood I decided to draw him again the other day - and don't seem to be able to stop!
In this picture I've drawn him in the stretchier style of his re-design, but added a few elements of my own.
1) Trousers (or pants i suppose): It always bugged me that while Porker Lewis (yes, I read the Fleetway comics - although I wasn't aware there was a difference at the time) was given a spiffy leather jacket, and Amy various tob-boyish clobber, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were quite happy to walk around naked. I felt that this was unfair, and solved the problem with a nice pair of indie-rocker style black trousers. That'll keep the wind-chill out!
2) Markings: Another thing that bothered me was just how cool Shadow, Jet and others looked with their markings. Sonic's appearance is iconic, but it needed to be simple so that the Master System and Megadrive (Genesis) could cope. This is not the case any more, and I think my design keeps the familiar Red and Blue, but gives him more edge.
3) Jewelry: Around his neck sonic has a small emerald, and can access it's power should extreme cases need it. Looking on Youtube I found out that someone had found a cheat that concluded in attaining a secret, Gold emerald, so I coloured it this way. On his left hand he has four golden rings, and I've read on Wiki that Sonic was infused with four World Rings to become Darkspine Sonic in 'Sonic And The Secret Rings'. I've not played it, so i'm not sure if this is true, but the video clips I've seen of D.Spine were pretty cool, and besides, it gives me a reason to include the fire trail behind him. On his right he has a watch like device, that rather than show the time shows either a half moon or a whole moon to give him either access to his Werehog senses or to turn him into said beast respectivelly.
Right, sorry for going on, that was just if anyone wanted to know why he was so 'blinged up' (I feel SOOO old when I use that term!)
If Espio the Chameleon could use elemental powers, I would see him as a wind and ice user. Would be really cool~
So this was supposed to be 2015 sketch #2, except I liked it so much I didn't want to leave it as a sketch. So I coloured it. For some reason, I thought the green color of the scarf came from some old fan art I liked a long time ago. I can't find it anymore though. So maybe it was because his attire used to have a bit of green. The wind scheme and leaves were inspired by Pazudora's (or Puzzle and Dragons) Masamune art. I really liked the combination of green, blue and red. Also, I really don't know why I always colour him violet over magenta, despite always having a reference of him. Third time now D:
