For my Advanced Higher art project I am creating a costume for the "Wind in the Willows" Mr. Toad character.
On the left are four pages of my initial sketchbook work. I used tropical toads as inspiration as that was not the usual way Toad has been represented. I explored colour, shape and tone in different kinds of media (card/ink/charcoal).
On the Right are some drawings I did at the start of the year to help improve my toad drawing skills. I used watercolour, pencil and oil pastel.
For the production of END OF THE RAINBOW at Intrepid Theatre @ The San Diego Rep, The Space in San Diego, California.
I did the scenic design, construction and installation. It almost killed me - so much work. I loved this show that I did for my friends.
Floor is painted by the way...
This savagely funny play offers unique insight into the inner conflict that inspired and consumed one of the most beloved figures in American popular culture. End of the Rainbow triumphed in London’s West End and on Broadway receiving 3 Tony nominations and 4 Olivier nominations, including Best Play.
It’s 1968, and Judy Garland, at 46, with new flame Mickey Deans at her side, prepares to make her comeback with a six-week booking at London’s Talk of the Town nightclub. End of the Rainbow is a powerful, and at times hilarious, exploration of the final days of this beloved and exploited star. Part drama and part concert, the production features Garland’s most memorable songs including “The Man That Got Away,” “Come Rain Or Come Shine,” “The Trolley Song” and, of course, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”
Starring Award Winning Actress Eileen Bowman as Judy Garland, Jeffrey Jones as her fiancé Mickey Deans, Cris O’Bryon as her pianist Anthony and Marco Rios in multiple roles.
