Consists of Helmet, Cuirass, Pauldrons, Full Arms, Full Legs, Tassets, Sabatons & Gauntlets, Cape, and Garment Skirting.
Hardened leather construction with brass hardware and some fabric bits. The horns on the helmet are water buffalo. It has some snake and wolf themes pertaining to the original Loki mythology/lore. I’ll be doing some additions to the cape and making a magical staff prop and more down the road.
It is called Medieval Loki because I am doing a series called the Medieval Legends where I take popular modern and historic icons, superheroes and villains, and I approach the costume design from the standpoint of “What if this character was an armored knight in a Fantasy Medieval Universe?” Loki is the third incarnation after Medieval Batman and Medieval Aquaman. Medieval Joker is up next. Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Iron Man, Spawn, Deadpool, Green Lantern and more are also in the works : ) Joker is up next. (Medieval Joker is complete now.)
And there are a number of additions I'll be doing to this set in time. (Some already done, see facebook) Doublet and staff up next for this set.
I can't believe it, finally it's done! YAY! This took me ages!
It is part of a larger commission, including also a tunic, a cloak and a vanbrace. Here there are: double belt, breast piece of the armour, and gorget. The last one is linked to the breast piece with two straps on the front, because the cloak will go over the armour and under the gorget, so the straps must pass where it's open.
(Edit: ah, the big "spike" was agreed with the client! )
All this stuff is designed by me, piece by piece, starting from a sketch, then with a paper model, and finally made in 3mm thick leather. Hand cut. 6mm rivets/studs. A lot of time. Really. A lot. According to my records, 58 hours. Sometimes I think I'd better not to keep records of my work hours. BUT, the good things are that: - it's done -I had LOTS of fun doing all these!
At the very fisrt year of shoe design, we all created our first shoes from allmost the same patterns, except we could choose our own materials. I made white ones, because you can see the mistakes more easily
