Art book updates - almost overSo i received the art books and they look good. Ii am currently packing them and will send them very soon! Sorry for the slowness, and thank you for your endless patienceArt book updates - almost over7 months ago in Personal More Like This
I talked to them and they said they will fix it (i don't know how) so i sent the art books back, who knows when i'll get them back fixed. Not in time for Nijikon of course! Why would i have my art books in time for Nijikon???!!??111 :iconallmytearplz: :iconblooddeathplz:
i received the art books and they printed them with white instead of the images i gave them for the interior cover, and now i will send them back so they fix them somehow, or i will try to fix them, in any case, there will be some delays. I'm sorry i cannot sent ugly artbooks to anyone. I am so angry and disapointed by romanian companies and services right now. :icontearsofrageplz: the level of incompetence in this country just went over 9000
I mean, i made tests so this wouldn't happened, and they
Info Updates & Mustache CupcakesHey guys! It's been a while and I haven't been too active on dA this past month but here's the journal to keep you all updated:Info Updates & Mustache Cupcakes3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been busy speeding up the schedule so I can release my next webcomic, Fisheye Placebo as soon as possible. The current release date is set to early 2013.
That means Knite had to slow down a bit since it's difficult to work on 2 projects at once. However, I still aim to update Knite ch5 beta strips around once a week. You may have noticed that in the past, I posted Knite in full chapter flash format, but I really enjoyed posting beta pages on my :iconknites: account since this allowed more audience interaction. The problem was switching between accounts was too much pain, and updating several pages a day flooded people's accounts. In the end, I decided to post strips on this account instead. The strips will only be posted once a week so if you don't want to be spoiled, just ignore the strips
In other news, I have several other so
BrazilLast week I was trying to get a visa for a trip to FIQ--the largest comic art festival in the southern hemisphere. The process was frustrating, so I posted a Tweet. It was soon picked up by a Brazilian newspaper, and that's when the drama started.Brazil2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"The Brazilian visa process is ridiculous. One more snag and I'm canceling the convention at FIQ." was my Tweet.
A few hours later, the "story" was picked up by a large Brazilian newspaper, seen here: http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/ilustrada/2013/09/1340399-autor-de-hq-punk-rock-jesus-diz-que-visto-para-brasil-e-ridiculo-e-poe-visita-em-duvida.shtml
Which started a 48 hour session of my Brazilian readers fighting off the hundreds of offended Brazilians (most of whom have no idea who I am) attacking my Tweet. After retweeting the more ridiculous tweets, I finally signed off of Twitter for a few days. I also asked my Twitter followers to halt the conversation because it was just getting worse. Even this morning, I deleted a few threats in my emai
5 Fundamental Skills (by Bobby Myers)5 Fundamental Skills Every Artist Should Master5 Fundamental Skills (by Bobby Myers)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
(by Bobby Myers)
As an artist, your job is to immerse your viewers into a world that you have built and guide them safely through it. Artists have much in common with storytellers. Storytellers have several tricks that they use to keep their readers coming back for more. Like storytellers, artists can use similar tricks to help them produce more compelling artwork. In this article, we will explain 5 fundamental skills that every artist should master. Let's take a look!
The most important aspect of art to me personally is the composition. It sets the stage for everything else. This is your way to guide and lead the viewer to make them feel as if they are actually in your picture. If this part of the process is not created and controlled properly, everything else can and probably will fal
...This feeling. [edit: Thank you!!]Thank you guys so, so much. I appreciate each and every one of you for your advice and your kindness! (_ _)...This feeling. [edit: Thank you!!]3 years ago in Personal More Like This
...No, really. I'm so lucky to have amazing people like you supporting me. It's like a large mass of combined wisdom. ;-; And it really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know you guys care! Across the wide spans of the internet, but there are human hearts who care~~ (Okay, that was cheesy. But I appreciate you guys all the same!)
Here's a general compilation of the advice I received. To those of you in the same rut--maybe these will help you too!
- Get away from art. Hiatus it.
- Do something other than art. Crafts, etc.
- Change inspiration sources.
- Specific inspiration sources. e.g. music, manga, great art, paint chat with others.
- In general, more exposure to different things, so that you can recombine ideas to make new ones.
- Aspire to be like the pro artists.
- Go outside. Look around yourself and try to think creatively
DON'T GO TO ART SCHOOL- By Noah BradleyDon't go to art schoolDON'T GO TO ART SCHOOL- By Noah Bradley2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The traditional approach is failing us. It's time for a change.
I'VE HAD IT.
I will no longer encourage aspiring artists to attend art school. I just won't do it. Unless you're given a full ride scholarship (or have parents with money to burn), attending art school is a waste of your money.
I have a diploma from the best public art school in the nation. Prior to that I attended the best private art school in the nation. I'm not some flaky, disgruntled art graduate, either. I have a quite successful career, thankyouverymuch.
But I am saddened and ashamed at art schools and their blatant exploitation of students. Graduates are woefully ill-prepared for the realities of being professional artists and racked with obscene amounts of debt. By their own estimation, the cost of a four year education at RISD is $245,816. As way
Respect...I'm not sure what has happened to DA lately, but sadly I'm noticing more and more people are becoming rude and obnoxious when commenting on others work. This isn't just my work, I've noticed it across the whole site.Respect...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It seems some people think it's absolutely ok to insult people, with absolutely no provocation, other than the fact they don't like their work or are jealous for some reason (the person's work makes them feel bad about themselves or they feel the person is getting more attention than them, for what they consider invalid reasons).
If you have something constructive or relevant to say about someone's work, no matter how negative, then that is absolutely ok. But to just be negative or plain rude to make yourself feel better, is never ok under any circumstances. Think before you type, how would you feel if someone wrote what you were about to write, to you, your partner or your friend? Would you find it helpful, hurtful, insulting? Would you have the guts to
My deviantART StoryIt all started a few years ago, with a single piece of art.My deviantART Story9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
I can remember having seen digital art before, but it never really impacted me. The fact that it wasn't real, on paper, and I couldn't touch it, made it somehow distant to me. Yet, for whatever reason, this piece was different to me. I can still remember staring at it from the screen of my computer, not being able to grasp how someone was able to make art that flawless, pretty and beautiful. And how a person was able to express that much emotion with just a few brush strokes. Call me stupid, or naive. But I just could "get" it.
I think it was that piece of art that gave me a reason to try. Or more, a direction that I wanted to go in.
Before that time I was like a clueless wanderer. I've been writing a story for years. But I was basically lost in a maze of what I wanted or what I could do when it came to drawing stuff. My lack of skill and fear of failure got

Living Rainbow Taking Flight
The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.
Featured Friday #2Greetings fellow Artists!!Featured Friday #28 months ago in Personal More Like This
Every Friday, for an indefinite period of time, I will be featuring an artist of my interest and choosing, unbeknownst to them, in order to give them much needed exposure and allow them to hopefully get one step closer to flourishing here on dA.
Our featured Artist for today, coming in at #2, is: :icontalabert:
Who is He?
Another aspiring "mangaka" in our community that utilizes a strong sense of inking and contrast in his work.
What He Is Working On?
Currently he appears to be working on his latest manga project, ManaZero, along with doing the occasional contest and illustration here and there.
I first met Talabert towards the beginning of my stay at deviantArt; at the time, however, he went by a different username. He had been uploading consistently, but all of a sudden real life called and he went AWOL for a while online (This tends to happen a lot, I've noticed). He came back
A Shout Out For My Friends !Hey everyone, I just was to inform you guys about these two talented artists that have great potential who are also good friends of mines. These two are "Neko-Ken" and "Noorami". Both of their work are really spot on and breath taking as well, so feel free to visit their deviantART profiles and look through their art galleries for fun. Also, don't be afraid to drop a comment or two or even a fave, that would be really kind of you to do so.A Shout Out For My Friends !5 months ago in Personal More Like This

A Moment of Zen
From a person simply closing his or her eyes for a moment on the subway ride home to the annual gathering of over 2 million pilgrims traveled to Mecca in the annual Hajj, the rites and rituals of prayer can be as personal or as ritualized as one’s spiritual self might require. The stopping for a moment’s meditation in hopes of a revelation as to how to proceed is a universal “medicine” we all need sometimes.

OMG dA hates NarutoOk, so there's been a bit of drama today because a few Naruto images have been removed. People are blaming hackers and trolls and biased admins, but here's the real deal.OMG dA hates Naruto4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today we received a report about a group that was focused on sexualised images of the girls from Naruto. On inspection there were found to be well over a thousand images that broke our policies regarding underage characters. We removed these these policy violations, but as you can imagine, so many images being removed there was a bit of a stir caused. A very small amount of images were removed accidentally, but we've restored the ones that were and have been notified about. But we're talking less than1% of the images removed.
So why was all this removed?
In short deviantART does not allow the sexualisation of any image involving a human minor, real or fictional.
I know this seems a bit vague and it is clarified a bit in :faq248:
But what does that all really mean? Why is it so vague and subjec

Publishing for the Non-Lit ArtistPublishing WeekPublishing for the Non-Lit Artist2 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
So this week, we're focusing largely on publishing literature - which makes sense. When you think "published [blank]" the first words that come to mind to fill that blank are probably "poet" or "novelist" or "hack". Right? But, little-known fact - There are as many routes for publishing visual art as for literature.
Seriously, though: Whether you're a writer or not, there's a niche for you in publishing. This article will outline some of the most common venues to answer that ever-present question, "Where can my work go once I'm done with it?"
If publishing visual art sounds like something you would like to do, I cannot stress enough that you should read the rest of the articles in Project Educate: Lit Publishing Week. Most of the themes you'll see apply to visual art as much as lite

1. I hope you accept your art the way it is more.
2. I hope you will compare your art less with other's art.
3. I hope you erase less and draw more.
4. I hope you forgive your mistakes and see them for what they are, steps forward.
5. I hope you see your art for what it is but especially for what it can be.
6. I hope you draw less of what others expect to see you draw and more of what made you want to start drawing in the first place.
7. I hope that when you see a beautiful drawing, it inspires you to try harder rather than quit.
8. I hope you don't cringe when you stumble on your old art and instead be amazed at how much you improved.
9. I hope i came up with more inspiring words C:
Did i just ruin the solemn mood of this journal? I think i did :iconheplz: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Meet Fan-Artist of February 2013!
Tell us about yourself and you only been here for a whole year now, what is your biggest (and proudest) accomplishment? Like a time when you felt like you were right on top of the world
I’ve been drawing since I was little. I kept it as a hobby and draw stuff I like from time to time. Since I love Dragonball, basketball, I started drawing a lot sketches related to these subjects with traditional medium and kept it up for years. At first I just look at other artist's work to get inspired, now I really like the deviantART community and appreciate what I can learn from the community.
Well, I never felt like on top of the world^^, but I guess the biggest accomplishment for me is when others told me that I inspire and motivate them to become better.
What does "Art" mean to YOU? What about "Fan Art"?
(UPDATED) See you in San Francisco and AOD!Okay, crazy stuff! Apparently there was a huge misunderstanding and I was just informed by my publisher that I DO have a table at Anime On Display http://www.aodsf.org/events/exhibits/ I will be in the Dealer's Room at table X. However, I ALSO have a table inside the 1st floor of the Japan Town Mall near the Kinokuniya bookstore. I already promised people who don't have a badge for AOD that they can hang out at the table near the bookstore but I also have to be inside the AOD dealer's room as well...(UPDATED) See you in San Francisco and AOD!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since I can't be at 2 places at once, I will take turns visiting both tables:
On Saturday the 16th, I will be at the table near the Kinokuniya from 10AM to 2PM, then I will be at AOD's dealer's room from 2-6:30 PM.
On Sunday the 17th, I will be at AOD from 10 AM to 2PM, then at Kinokuniya from 2PM to 6PM.
All the posters and books will be sold at both tables so it doesn't matter where you visit. But if you want to get stuff signed or just hang out, please go follow
