Young Justice: JuvenileTo put it lightly, today had been disastrous. Ultra-heavy on the 'dis.'
Truthfully, things had been fine for the most part. That is, at first.
A closed Gotham City Academy, under construction after a certain giant-robot-versus-superhero incident, gets Dick out of school for the week.
Which in turn means more training and missions with Batman.
Thus causing Dick to be thrilled (in a way that only those who truly know the depths of his and Batman's relationship understand).
The Big, Bad Batman might seem as cold as ice and as emotionless as stone to most everyone else, only showing care to those closest to him in the League (and even then...), but Dick knows better. He's been lucky enough to come to know the man beneath the cowl and beyond the virtually-indestructible walls he's erected.
He's been Bruce's foster son for a little over three years now, and in that time he's grown closer to the man than anyone besides Alfred and most of the Original Seven. And it is for this reas

What the hell is he supposed to do? Robin wasn't breathing and his heart had stopped. He was dead. Oh God, Robin was dead.
Superboy pressed himself and Robin closer to the fire and tried to think of something, anything that would bring the Boy Wonder back to life, because Robin couldn't be dead. He may have been mortal but it wasn't possible for him to just die!
There was a noise, dear god; he really hoped it wasn't those damn guards because Superboy didn't think he would be able to hold back.
As they were flying to the cave where Robin and Superboy were Superman focused on the two heartbeats and flying at a speed slow enough for everyone to follow but quick enough for them to get to the two trapped teens. Yet, when he heard one heart beat stop and the other quicken. The Man of Steel had the same reaction; he stopped dead in his tracks then sped towards the teens, ignoring the voices coming from his comm. link, they could track his comm. link to follow him, but he

The Boy Wonder was the farthest back in the group. He looked t his cold and shaking teammates as the clutched their clothes tighter to their bodies hoping it would bring them more heat. When Batman steps through the doorway to Mount Justice during the early morning hours to retrieve Robin for a mission run in Gotham, the very air tells him that something is off.
Then, the boy emerges, and he notices on sight: the way his protégé breathes a little lighter and winces otherwise unnoticeably when he stretches or moves his chest the wrong way.
Young Justice hasn't had any missions in two days, and Robin

It always amazed Wally just how heavy something as intangible as silence could feel. The interior of Mount Justice was thick with is, the lights dimmed into near darkness as most of the Cave's occupants had retired for what rest they could obtain after the day's events.
The ultimatum delivered to Flash and Superman did not go over well, not that he thought it would have. The pair finally relented to talk to Batman before they came back with the order to stand down. Not that the younger team would listen if it did come to that. They'd disobeyed the League before, and they were all more than ready and willing to do it again. They had both left shortly thereafter, with the promise to return the following morning, leaving Young Justice to wait it out.
He had spent the last hour just walking around. That of itself was strange, as Kid Flash never walked anywhere, but he was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't realized when his feet had taken him to the d

When Batman shows up at Mount Justice unexpectedly, the team knows it must be serious. Their mission-dispatcher never comes around unless it's something big, and even with his mask and schooled expression there is a noticeable tightness to his features.
The imposing man stands before them, scanning each face intently. The intensity of his gaze amplifies with each child. Finally, when he pauses on Robin and doesn't let up, there is such a severe glint in his eyes and a tension suggesting clenched teeth that Robin just knows:

Despite the ability to alter its form, there was not room enough inside the Martian Bio-Ship for a proper med bay. The seat that Roy was helped into had, with a thought from the ship's pilot, been reclined and the young man was thankful to be able to stretch out and to get off his burning muscles. He closed his eyes, his fingers pinching the bridge of his nose as he tried to relieve some of the pressure building in his head.
He felt Green Arrow's hand on his shoulder squeeze lightly. "Were you hurt?"
Without bothering to open his eyes, Red Arrow shook his head. "Didn't even put up a fight," he huffed his frustration. "Sportsmaster had a knife to Rob's throat. I couldn't-" The hand tightened when his voice cracked. He swallowed to moisten his suddenly dry throat. "I'm just sore, cramped, from being tied up like that."
"There's a med kit in my office that'll have some ointment and muscle relaxants," Oliver told him quietly.

"No," Kaldur said from his seat next to M'gann. "He would know that the situation would hinder Batman. The means may have been something Batman would have recognized first, but Robin would no doubt understand that we would be the ones coming to his aid."

To anyone in the League, Batman would seem mostly the same as usual tonighta tad more on edge perhaps, but certainly no less skilled or less focused. Basically, right as gloomy skies in Gotham.
Nevertheless, Robin isn't in the JLA. He's part of the Young Justice League, soon to be its leader, but that's not the same thing and also not the point right now.

By the time he was strapped into his seat on the helicopter, Robin had finally gotten his breath back. His head was still spinning but at least the blinding black and white splotches that had overtaken his field of vision had cleared. Sportsmaster was chuckling behind his mask and patted the boy on the head, none to gently either, before climbing into the pilot's seat of the aircraft.
The g-gnomes were next, scampering in excitedly with their pilfered things. Robin narrows his eyes as he recognized some of them for what they were. One was a new compressor that QI was developing to lessen the pressure gradient on human lungs when in outer space. He narrowed his eyes beneath the mask as he wondered what they could possible want with that.

Now he was worried.
"Hey Batman, can we talk about Robin?" Flash asked as they walked further away from the teenage heroes.
"What is it?"
Flash looked over towards the teenagers hanging out in the base, and then to the small boy just standing against the wall, staring off into space.

He stops short. Batman is giving him a look, one he knows well and dreads even better. It spells out exactly what he was feeling earlier. His face contorts into a slight scowl, showing only a minute fraction of his discomfort as his stomach churns and his heart drops.

Robin was finally getting some much needed rest when his communicator started beeping.
It had been Three o'clock at night when Robin and his teammates returned to Mount Justice. After such a long and exhausting mission, all Robin wanted to do was sleep. He knew he had school the next day and that Batman wasn't going to be happy that he had stayed at Mount Justice instead of returning to the manor, but Robin didn't care. At that moment, all he wanted to do was drift off to dreamland, where there were no worries; no school, villains, planetary crisis's, just blissful peace... unless, of course, he manifested a nightmare.
Which is why when Robin's communicator started beeping irritatingly he felt like grabbing the nearest object and smashing it silencing the repetitive beeping.
Groaning Robin sat up and looked at the clock, three fifteen he had been asleep fifteen lousy minutes, he pushed off his covers still fully clothed in his Robin uniform minus his boots, cape and mask.

Very slowly so as not to startle the Caped Crusader from his inner battle, Robin reaches forward to take the man's hands in his own, and when the Dark Knight looks down at him sharply it is all the boy can do to keep from unceremoniously crumbling.
