American & Japanese Sonic OriginThe American Storyline:American & Japanese Sonic Origin3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Sonic the Hedgehog grew up with his forest friends in the Green Hill Zone of the planet Mobius. Orphaned at an early age, Sonic fell in with a clan of rambunctious animal friends who taught him a variety of skills and tricks that you'll see him use in his video games today.
Johnny Lightfoot, a rabbit, showed Sonic how to outrun every creature in the forest, while Sally Acorn, a squirrel, taught Sonic how to jump incredible distances. A bluebird Flicky, influenced Sonic with his happy fearless approach to life: Joe Sushi, a walrus instructed Sonic on how to dive and swim, while a penguin, Tux, taught Sonic how to breathe underwater.
With the help of his many friends, Sonic developed cleverness, speed and a certain amount of "forest smarts."
Perhaps the most important lesson of all was from Chirps, a chicken, who inadvertently helped Sonic develop the Super Sonic Spin Attack. You see, as Chirps was learning to fly, he tumbled h

About the recent Hot Topic indicentUPDATE: SEE, I TOLD YOU SO.About the recent Hot Topic indicent9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Many of you have probably seen this Tumblr post:
Now, as...questionable as the DA ToS is, in fact the blame lies squarely on Hot Topic. As it turns out, Hot Topic's art-kleptomania isn't exclusive to DeviantART, as certain people may have told you. Oh, far from it. They've stolen from Tumblr, FurAffinity, Pixiv, and just about every other art-sharing site under the sun as well; DA's just a bigger target because it's a huge site and very popular. Basically, if your art's posted online, THEY WILL STEAL IT.
And this shit has been going on for years. And years. And years.
one of the most disappointing things everto happen in a series:one of the most disappointing things ever3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) You get very high expectations for a character and anticipate nothing less than utter badassery and coolitude from said character only for the character to actually turn out to be shitty and lame to the point where you actually end up wanting them to get killed off as opposed to rooting for them. All your expectations of this character ever being the badass you thought they were and would be are irreparably dashed to the ground.
2) The character in question starts out as the coolest person in the series and one of your absolute favorites before gradually becoming lamer and lamer and more contradictory as the series progresses to the point where you end up just hating that same character more than anyone else in the series.
The worst feelings.
Edit: This isn't referring to a specific series, I just mean in general when it happens.

Now then, too many times in this community, that community over there, and in real life many times I've seen what happens when someone either gets the wrong idea about something or just doesn't flat out understand. When this happens, conflict occurs and what is a friend like you or a victim like you to do about it?
I'm sure every single one of you has either been apart of or witnessed a situation like this so here are some tips to help out in said situation. I've been in situations like these and this is what those situations have taught me to do to protect myself and others.

Fur Affinity Sucks and You Know It - Backup StoryI'm an IT professional and it burns me up when some dumb-ass thinks he can half-ass IT, and then gets away with it. If it weren't for the fact that Fur Affinity was such a prominent alternative to DeviantART for all the furry crowd, it wouldn't be around today. Just google search Fur Affinity and start looking for all the fail stories that have come out of it. Never mind the last month and a half of flaky service and long loading times. I won't even go into the details of their absolute fuckery they've made of the login security (which is why so many accounts get hacked daily). No, today we're talking briefly about server upgrades and the necessity of performance monitoring. As I see it, this problem they're trying to rush fix today shouldn't have happened in the first place if someone in charge there knew a god damn thing about IT and proper server maintenance. LIVE character design workshop- BETAHey everyone. I'm on vacation this week, but I hope you are all having a good summer so far. I wanted to announce a new program I want to start of live internet workshops/lectures on character art/character posing. I've been thinking about this for awhile, but its very intimidating figuring out the best way to do it- SO, I'm just gonna start! I need your help though. I want to hear your comments and suggestions on what, how, when this is done. Please do two things for me: 1) Comment on my thoughts below on how this can work and what will be discussed- especially any thoughts on the tech side like Paypal and internet conferencing sites and 2) hit the LIKE button on this journal if you would seriously do this. It will give me a rough headcount of what I can expect. Super important.LIVE character design workshop- BETA3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Greetings internet. A majority of you know :icontompreston: Tom Preston/Andrew Dobson as a notoriously obstinate and degenerative artist who likes to argue irrational views and give toxic advice to teenagers on Deviant Art. Back in The Great Giraffe Holocaust of '13 we took note of how he would ask for commissions, then spend hours writing journals and answering comments and possibly erasing invisible giraffes. We told him he should work on his commissions more, and he retorted that we weren't 'his boss' because we hadn't commissioned him.
It's impossible to prove whether or not the secret eraser is himself, his fans, or both, but we could prove he wasn't actually working on commissions. Myself, :IconEvilTomP:, :IconRabbitMaskedMan:, and a few other unhealthily obsessed EDiots devised a plan to pool our money together for a commission. None of us wanted to shell out a full 45 dollars for a

That hippie dippy store that caters to today's fads.
Well it's not so happy when they're making a profit off our fan art or original works.
This is not the first time Hot Topic has been under fire for their art theft. They've stolen designs from several artists before.
This work was originally designed by rismo who even acknowledged that they never sold their rights to the fan image.
This is why I watermark my fan works. To keep companies like Hot Topic from stealing my designs and fan works. Watermarks stops companies from taking our designs and making a profit off it. Watermarks may be ugly, but they're useful in keeping us out of the courts with law suits on these types of companies.
In a way, watermarks are a safety net. So shut up about how watermarks are ugly. They keep us hard working artist

The book firmly states that there 'were' the animals like dog or cat existed in the world too, so don't get confused when they say that Squirtle is a turtle Pokemon.
It says that Pokemon suddenly appeared from nowhere. And the species kept increasing. Nobody knows why and it's a total mystery. ->The direct quote from the book : "Why? How come? For what Pokemon exist in our world? Solving that mystery is equal with solving the mysteries of humankind."
The book says that "there is a legend that the God created this world in a week. This god 'doodled' some extra animals in the seventh day. Those animals were born on holiday, and they weren't ordered to 'be ruled by humans' or 'rule humans'. They are Pokemon."

Anime and Manga are not styles.Anime and Manga are not styles.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I posted this up on my tumblr Repost if you agree.
Basically I'm tired of people blaming their shortcomings in art by blaming "anime". You know the type "If it wasn't for anime I'd be a master of drawing realistically!" Yeah right, take responsibility for your inexperience, and stop shoveling the blame onto something else. No one told you not to draw from life, and drawing from life and drawing cartoons are not mutually exclusive, you can do both.
I drew ninja turtles and mario bros. all the time when I was a kid, I dont go around going fuck TMNT and Mario Bros! If it werent for them Id be a better artist!
Secondly, anime isn't even a style. Is movies a style? is comics a style? is animation a style? No they are mediums. Within the medium you have formats styles and genres, none of which are going to hurt your drawing abili

Allegory WorkshopWhat is Allegory?Allegory Workshop9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Let’s look at what allegory means. Dictionary.com tells us that it is a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms; figurative treatment of one subject under the guise of another.
But what does this mean? Essentially, allegory is the telling of two stories in one. There is a an obvious “basic story”, but also a “deeper meaning”, a secondary story, sometimes referred to as “subtext”, or “underlying commentary”.
Symbolism is often a key feature, where a particular object, colour, person, or place can be used to represent a key element in the story. A simple example of this is in Star Wars where Luke wears light colours and Darth Vader wears dark colours to symbolise good versus evil.
Another good point to note is that allegory need not always be obvious, and the underlying commentary doesn

#ToMyUnbornChild became a trending topic on Twitter a few weeks ago, and while most people used it to write loving tweets to their future children, some homophobes decided to do just the opposite.
@Homophobes, a Twitter account that retweets homophobes to expose their ignorance, published an article of 100 extremely homophobic tweets, which gained quite a bit of attention around the web.
Charlotte Moore was inspired, and decided to write and direct a PSA using the tweets. The video was produced by Brian Lee and Nick Heim.
