The hike to get there does not seem like much, 1200 ft elevation, 2 hrs from Camp Poincenot (which itself is 10 miles or so outside of Chalten). Soon after you get going you are hit by an "oh sh*t" moment, as in "oh sh*t, this is going to be more difficult than expected". It is a constant and steep climb that is challenging for those of us in less than peak shape. Luckily we climbed it in total darkness so you could not see what is ahead.
...
The potential of the location is great, unfortunately for us neither Fitz Roy nor Poincenot made an appearance for the few hours we were up there. I am still amazed how calm it was, given the constant winds that seem to sweep every square inch of Patagonia in the summer.

Was planning on going to Glacier NP over the holiday, but half the park is still under snow. Changed plans and spent the long weekend around Bandon, OR, with mostly unremarkable sunrises and sunsets. Either not a cloud in the sky or no sun to be seen anywhere. This is one of the better images from the weekend. Yes, I know it has been shot a million times before, but what are you going to do when you are there - not shoot it? :) To make the situation even more challenging, the tide at sunrise was very low and the water around most of the rocks had drained completely.

A panorama of one of the most amazing sunrises I've ever seen. Taken last January of the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

A half moon rose over my shoulder providing the soft foreground illumination about twenty minutes after the sun had set. This is 6 equal exposures blended for focus. Each frame was shot at 2.8 to preserve the fixed stars.

After our 2nd day in Torres Del paine . We reached 'Camp Italiano' close to the 'Frances Vale' .. at night .. a cold and wet night in a deep and strange forest . !

Morning offered us a quite interesting light .. it allowed me to play with under exposition and high contrasts . The mountain afar is huge and enthralling .
