A faint ray of sunshine entered through the room's window and illuminated the girl's wavy and thick mane of red hair, which framed a pale, thin and angular face, sprinkled all over with tiny little freckles. She absent-mindedly scratched her delicate nose with the feather quill and kept on writing, to be interrupted seconds later by a couple of soft knocks. When she turned around, a beautiful brunette smiled from the half-opened door.
"Lily, honey, it's five o' clock already" the girl looked surprised at her wristwatch and nodded.
"Wow, time flies! I haven't finished writing the letter to Sam yet,

I Am Not My Hair
A Next Generation Harry Potter Fanfiction
Character: Hugo Weasley
I am not my hair.
Well, of course I'm not my hair literally...that would be impossible (and kind of ridiculous).
In the figurative, philosophical sense, I'm not my hair. What I'm trying to get at is that I'm not like what my hair represents. In any way, shape or form. I'm not my hair.
Ok, I guess I should explain.
You see, my hair is super bushy and eats combs for breakfast, like my mum's (but don't tell her that, please). My hair is also so red it makes my head look like it's engulfed in flames, like my dad's.
Even though my hair looks like the perfect mix of my parents' hair, I'm nothing like the two of them.
My mum is amazingly smart. Like, wow. She knows everything. Everything. I don't know where she fits it all in her brain. She could read through an entire textbook just once, take a test on it two weeks later, and not get one question wrong. I

In the lane
Snow is glistening
It was the brightest time of the year in Lily's opinion. Sure, the days were short and the weather cold, but in the blinding white of the snow, nearly everything looked perfect. It was this time of year that the shops of Hogsmead were glowing yellow light, with small displays of dolls, candy, new books, and cauldrons in the windows, freshly dusted and polished to rope in more customers during the heavy holiday season.
It had been six months since she had attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and a year now since she had finally fallen for James Potter. The boy in question walked beside her, cheeks glowing with a boyish quality that seemed to make him all the more attractive. Unruly black hair that Lily had learned to love was hidden beneath a knitted red and white cap, with the rest of him covered in jackets and pants and scarves and mittens and boot
Into The ChamberHermione and Ron both sat down as they saw Luna and Harry's retreating backs leave the room of requirement. Ron was deep in thought, his brow furrowing. They needed to figure out how to destroy the horcruxes without the sword. And they needed to actually find the other horcruxes. He ignored the sudden silence in the room. It seemed everyone was thinking hard as well, like him and Hermione. She sat tensely next to him, biting her lip and clutching her bushy hair, as though trying to pull the answers she sought from the curls. Although the whole room seemed lost in thought, he knew only she was concentrating her thoughts on the same solutions he was searching for. Angelina couldn't take her eyes off of the ring in his hand. It was a simple affair, nothing extravagant by any means, but that was entirely unsurprising; she'd seen it before, after all, when she went along to help Percy find Aubrey a ring. The only surprise of the whole thing was that George was the one kneeling in front of the Burrow's couch, holding the open box in hand. Belatedly, she realized that it had all been a ploy, that Percy would hardly trust her opinion on a ring more than anyone else in the family.
So there she was, gaping down at the diamond ring in surprise while time somehow stood still. It twinkled a lot. Not just the diamonds, though all three of them certainly shone and glittered almost outrageously, but the silver band itself seemed to shimmer. It hadn't done that at the shop, she was sure. It must have been an addition of George's.

"That one. The one that looks like a broomstick."
"What? That does not look like a broomstick in the slightest, Ron."
"Of course it does!"
"No, looks more like a tree to me."
"No no no, clearly it's a broomstick. Since when are trees triangular at the top?"
"Since I said so."
Ron laughed heartily and rolled on his side to gaze at Hermione.
She was laughing too; her face as bright as the sun that was shining on it. She was stretched out on the grass, her entire body relaxed, soaking up the wonderful summer weather. The breeze travelled up to the top of the hill on which they were reclining. It ruffled her dress and tossed her hair about her face. But she didn't bother trying to fix it: she knew she was fighting a losing battle trying to tame that hair of hers.
Even so, Ron tucked a bit of her hair behind her ear in a romantic gesture. It promptly rebelled, popping right back up to dance across Hermione's forehead. She giggled at Ron's attempt at cut

These were the words echoing in Ron's head as he sat in his seat, eager for the wedding ceremony to be over and the reception to begin. He would finally be able to show off more of what he learned from reading Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches and maybe, just maybe, he would sweep Hermione off her feet and they could both forget about the dangers that lay ahead of them. For just a few moments, it would be just them: no Harry, no horcruxes. Simply her hand in his, his arms around her, dancing.
Ron sat through the whole of the wedding ceremony with the thought of asking Hermione to dance on his mind. He had it planned out perfectly — they would go find a table at the reception, Harry would bugger off somewhere, and Ron would be free make eye

Unbeknownst to her classmates around her, she was on the verge of saying Ron. Hermiones mind backtracked to about three month earlier when she had gone with Harry, Ron, Ginny, Neville, and Luna to the Ministry of Magic. That day stayed in her memory, not because of the battle with Death Eaters she had endured, but what happened before they even entered the Atrium that fateful night
After gratefully dismounting from her thestral, Hermione was eager to be on solid ground again. All too soon, Harry was urging them into a small, dilapidated telephone booth. Ron and Ginny entered first, with herself, Neville, Luna, and Harry following.

I Choose YouI get it. You choose him.I Choose You8 years ago in Romance More Like This
Hermione had never heard Ron say something so untrue. As she ran out into the night after him, screaming his name, all she wanted to do was tell Ron that she did choose him. She always had.
This memory came to Hermione as she lay in her bed, with Ron snoring loudly beside her. The sun was beginning to peek through the blinds of the window, and the room was slowly bathed in golden light.
As she continued to watch Ron sleeping, even more memories came flooding into her mind to complement the one from the Horcrux hunt.
She was in fourth year, and she was standing at opposite sides of the common room from Ron. Both of them were extremely angry...
"How can you have gone to the ball with that git Krum? Ron was shouting at her.
Well, if you dont like it, you know what the solution is, dont you? It was naïve to the point of foolishness for her to believe that Ron actually did know what the solution was, but she shouted it a

Someone was gently shaking her shoulder, whispering her name over and over. She knew the voice and she knew who she would find standing above her if she resolved to open her eyes. The aching disappointment she would feel later, when she awoke, that tore her heart in half as easily as if it were made of flimsy paper.
She did it anyways because any glimpse of him, unreal or not, was better than nothing.
Annabeth peeled her eyes open. She peered up through her slit eyelids, felt her chest tighten; there he was, within touching distance, standing above her in all his glory.
A thought registered in the depths of her half-awake mind, and with it came surprise. He was much clearer than the image her mind usually conjured up in the dreams. She was not complaining, however, no matter how much she was sure the visualization would cost her later.
She focused on his face. A face she thought that was as beautiful as any god's, though

Hermione, ever the light sleeper, woke up once the rain turned from a light sprinkling to a heavy downpour. The thunder rolled in next, and she instinctively cuddled closer to Ron. His warm body and unique scent were the most comforting things to her in the face of a large storm.
Ron was tickled awake by Hermione's hair underneath his nose. He smiled slightly and pulled her closer to him.
"Oh, so you are awake then," Hermione said contently, tilting her head up to see his bright blue eyes smiling at her. He still looked rather drowsy.
"Not for long, dear," he chuckled. Pulling her even closer, he laid his head on hers and closed his eyes.
A few minutes passed.
"I love you."
"I love you, too, dear."
The thunder was rolling its way out. Hermione sighed and drifted back to sleep.

Rubbing her temples, Hermione left a shaken Klein and rushed to the sanctity and organization of her own office. She pulled out a fresh roll of parchment and began to write a memo that apologised to Shacklebolt about his wrecked office and slightly mangled ear.
Her eagle-feather quill skated across the parchment much more quickly than usual. Today had been a long day, and she couldnt wait to get home and see Ron. His hours in the field as an Auror almost always conflicted with her schedule at the Ministry. In fact, in the past week, theyd only run into each other at their flat twice, and theyd made the most of those two moments.
When she finished the letter, Hermione folded the parchment over and sealed it with a charm. She addressed the memo, tapped it twice, and watched it sail out her slightly ajar door.

George let out a deep sigh.
This is definitely not how he would want to be remembered, for having the most boring funeral known to man.
"He was an outstanding member of this church for over fifteen years. We will all feel his loss long after he is gone."
"I don't think Uncle Bilius ever went to church," whispered Fred.
"This is the worst funeral I've ever been to," George muttered, hanging his head around his knees. Mum had Percy poke his back and they both gave him stern glares so he would sit up 'properly.'
Charlie was asleep with a piece of drool making its way down his chin. Bill was awake, his unfocused gaze settling somewhere around the pretty fiance of their cousin. Ron and Ginny covertly read a comic hidden between them. Fred had his head tilted back, staring at the ceiling with much concentration.
"When I die, I don't want a funeral," he said.
"I don't want one. They're boring, filled with church stuff, and everyone has to dress like a bunch of stuffy berks."

The banner strung across the Burrow's kitchen strongly reminded Harry of the one that once stretched across Number 12's kitchen, when the two of them had become Gryffindor prefects.
This time, however, the congratulations were for a completely different occasion: Ron and Hermione had just gotten engaged.
The couple was surrounded by family and friends, shaking hands and giving hugs. Harry caught them smiling at each other every now and then when they got a break from all the well-wishing.
He couldn't be happier for his two best friends. He had watched them grow up together, develop feelings for each other, and eventually get their act together. And now, they were making it official. It felt like yesterday that they were arguing over Viktor Krum and house elves.
Well, it's not like their bickering ever stopped, thought Harry, as he watched Ron and Hermione debate quietly over who should cut the cake Mrs. Weasley had made for the occasion. They j

Ron shivered as he watched Hermione's hand on his knee, his eyes wide. They had held hands before, and hugged many times, but this was a new gesture; however, Ron wasn't complaining. It felt too good for words having Hermione's hand on his leg, caring about what happened to him.
Hermione must have seen his wide eyes, and taken that to mean he was uncomfortable, because she removed her hand, blushing.

I love you, Hermione, said Ron, sinking back in his chair, rubbing his eyes wearily.
Not until after the words had left his mouth did Ron realize how true these words were. Although he was sure Hermione would not take the words how he truly meant them, he couldnt help blushing deeply.
Looking back, Ron realized that it was in his second year that he thought of Hermione as more than his know-it-all friend. As Hermione lay petrified in the hospital wing, Ron found himself regretting all the unkind things he had ever said to her. It was terrifying to the twelve-year-old boy to think she would never wake up. She, from that moment on, became his first crush.
While Ron was determined to keep his feelings a secret, it became harder as he and Hermione got older. In their third year, Ron couldnt help admiring her as she slapped Malfoy round the face and showed true bravery and strength in saving a friend. Thus,
