Confrontation"You once said that you wanted to know what was going on. What was causing all of this" she swept her arm over the landscape in front of her, over the swarming mass of reanimated corpses that had congregated there. "The answer?" she laughed, a high tinkling laugh, "It's very simple. The answer, is me" And as she turned around, her eyes became daggers again. They reflect the light in strange ways, leaving a sheen of metallic silver and no trace of their original blue. I shook my head.Confrontation2 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

"I said, it - was - me." I closed my mouth, and looked at the shell of what had once been Flora. "You may not be able to do anything beyond a small bit of healing. What? Can you heal a graze on your leg? Is that all you can do?"
"I can stop a bullet, you-" she laughed again.
"A bullet! Is that honestly the best you can

I went to the zoo and let some wild things out.
That was a whisper - do not make me shout.
I kept on driving when the road ran out.
That was a whisper - do not make me shout.
I erased my book and tore the pages out.
That was a whisper - do not make me shout.
I love my life but with a trace of doubt.
Can you hear me whisper? Do not make me shout.

I'll never phone.
When you are me
I may love you, we'll see.
When we're one,
We'll bathe naked in Sun.
When we separate,
I'll have never known a grief so great.
When I reflect
What I see I won't respect.
When we speak again,
I'll just be glad we're friends.
When we die as two,
My last image will be of you.

She sat and stared. It was a quick movement, unobserved by anyone except Jason, who wasn't fully sure he had observed it himself. But she was sure he had, even though he wasn't. She greeted him with the only greeting she ever used, "Hello, Jason. How are you feeling today?"
"Oh hello, well, I'm feeling fine, I suppose." She thought long, hard, and deep about that one.
"Well, to be frank, Jason, you don't sound too sure about that." This came as a surprise. Jason had almost hoped that his answer would wholly suffice, that it would wrap up his appointment like a birthday gift and send him on his merry way. Suddenly, he was aware of the error in his ways.

Beneath my skin bridging
Bubbling forever building
Heights gone unimagined

Tabletop into my arms
Firm and swung into my stomach
Grown to stammer me across

Lots where I am zapped
Of memories and color
Fading as I stumble

Anthills in the asphalt under
Neath a car that isn't
Mine or yours or thank god
Theirs, the person standing
Watching me escape the earth
In sweats and exorcisms
Upset over every cigarette
That smokes and all the little
Things I missed and will
Regretfully forget in time

Here is an orchestra of forty-two -
not too many instruments nor too few.
What happened to the sixteen violins?
Each one has blistered varnish, streaks of soot.
Some reeds and horns have injuries as well.
But many shine and show no sign of harm.
Tonight there is a problem with the score -
the pages disarrayed and on the floor.
We look to the conductor - shreds of light
press in upon the darkness where she stands.
She stands with head bowed down for much too long.
A singer walks on stage - has this been planned?
And the conductor lifts her head and hands.
There will be music. There will be a song.

i'm dreaming of you,
lost to your touches, your love.
please, glance at me once.
skin stained with your prints,
you drag me close and whisper:
"don't give up on me."
sunset on your face,
lips trailing my cheeks, my neck.
i can't forget you.
you cancelled tonight.
did i hear you unclearly,
or were you smiling?
a dinner for two
with candles and chocolate.
i forgive you, babe.
please, don't walk away.
he means nothing to me, promise.
please let me back in?
i'm thinking of you
and the love that you stole away.
why did you leave me?
i saw you tonight,
with her. does she kiss you, soft,
just like i used to?
(because i surely hope not.)

Slump into car, heart ajar.
News on to ground my thoughts.
