anxietyFirst of all.. I didn't expect to gain so much appreciation over this piece.anxiety3 years ago in Personal More Like This
From all over people have expressed how they feel about it. People have gone into large detail on what they like about this.
I want to talk about anxiety in general and how the image came about.
3 years ago I was hit hard by the disorder. It was so bad I got suicidal at points. Not the attention starving kind. Seriously contemplating it. Life was hell.
To someone who hasn't experienced it. I'll try and describe it from my own experience and point of view.
At any random point in the day I can get these attacks. During these attacks I'm overwhelmed with the feeling of imminent death. No rational thinking can erase the thought or feeling. Imagine having a gun held to your head. And you know it's going to go off. You just don't know when. That's what happens when I experience an attack.
I get these daily.
I hide it well from people around me. By just walking away. Or keeping to myself a lot.
How did this affect my
SickHe could hear it, the bloody figure walking behind him over nimble feet. Then his eyes were forced to close as cold, bony fingers covered his sight. Nails like claws buried deep into his cheek as she breathed softly, surely bloody lips drawn into that scornful smile he both loved and detested.Sick3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And then she was gone, back into the sweet torments of his mind. And then, like venom, she left him on the floor, dead and strangely calm.
I had to get this out of my head.
I know, I'm weird.

RutsFor all of us, having a "bad day" at the drawing board is inevitable. Often times they'll lead to bad streaks. And because the previous day's page affects the page directly after, it's sometime hard for us to break out of these ruts, especially when we're not always happy with the previous page. But we try to power through them the best we can, right?Ruts5 years ago in Personal More Like This
I notice that once a month I'll have a streak of severe doubt and depression. It's an artistic menstrual cycle that occurs every 30 days or so. And the questions in my head are probably very similar to how everyone in our field feels: why do I care about art so much? Who really reads this stuff? Who am I fooling? Why am I not better? What if someone finds out that I'm just faking it? And so on.
Some of these questions have obvious answers. Some will never be answeredand trying to answer them is partially what the

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq
2011 As Seen Through Art2011 was full of emotional events the world around, and our community responded at unprecedented levels. From natural disasters to historical celebrations, entertainment milestones to tearful goodbyes, our community spoke out like no other community can — artistically, creatively, and emotionally. In many ways, last year marked the final chapter of a few eras, opening the door to new beginnings for 2012. My exam was today and I got up early to get there an hour early just in case something happens.
I normally do not complain about public transport but today was just ridiculous!
It's 15 minute walk to my bus stop and I had to walk in the rain today, well at least I had a jacket. So it wasn't so bad.
I caught my bus (yes, the correct bus - I double checked) and I was on my merry way. Until midway through the trip, my bus driver had made a wrong turn.
No biggy, I only lost 5 minutes and still had an hour to go until my exam so it was ok.
As I was getting to my stop, I pressed the bell for the next stop to my college only to watch in horror as the bus driver drove right past it! :iconcrycryplz:
I couldn't believe it, as well as 5 other people who attended my college too. We told the bus driver and you know what he said??
"oops"..... and he kept driving.:iconinsultedplz:
Man I was so pissed!! :iconguaahplz:

in one of my art classes my teacher was sick so we had a substitute which just happened to be my principal. we were so noisy and we didn't pay attention to him. it got to the point where we were throwing paint and he got hit.
suddenly, he stood up and just burst out in rage," YOU ARE ALL FREAKING GRADE 12, WHY DON'T YOU BEHAVE?! STAND UP IF U ARE FREAKING STUPID!"
nobody stood up and there was a long long silence for a very long time.
however, one of my friends stood up. everyone stared and wondered,'why is he standing up? is he suicidal?'
my eyes widen and i was thinking loudly in my head "ARE YOU FREAKING STUPID?! SITDOWN!!!"
i was hoping he could get my message telepathically but i don't think he did...
the teacher stared at him and asked "do you think that this is some kind of joke? do you really think that you are stupid?!"
my friend replied, "No."
"then why are you standing up fo

Regarding SOPA and deviantART (update)Our view at deviantART regarding SOPA is that it's probably a bad idea. There should be better ways to deal with mass infringement on the Internet than this. This bill in our view can be seen as a threat to the open Internet itself and this is very hard to digest or support.Regarding SOPA and deviantART (update)4 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
I personally have found information at the EFF and at Public Knowledge to be very helpful in understanding what is at stake.

Dust and CobwebsGood morning creeps!Dust and Cobwebs3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've finally finished moving all of my strange antiques into the new house I'm sharing with Mr. Cain. We've painted, and installed all of our modern conveniences into this lovely circa 1900 house.
I've been waging war on the dust and cobwebs since moving, and the spiders... you would not believe. I found their mother lurking in the most frightening of all places... the hard-to-reach crevice behind the toilet. It was a horrific fight, she being about the size of my entire hand, but I've managed to purge the house.
The house itself is strange. It's not very big, but it's the biggest house I've ever lived in. It has mysterious tiny doors that don't open, a cupboard under the stairs, fireplaces in every room, and tall ceilings (which is good, because Mr. Cain has the proportions of Slender Man). I'm already imagining the kind of hobgoblins who lurk in the walls and the monsters in the attic because something has to be making those noises at night...
I'm looking forward

Keep Calm And Comic-Con
Wed Aug 8, 2012 by techgnotic
This year was especially important to me personally and was a milestone of sorts on
multiple levels and for deviantART as a whole. Many of the reasons why will become clear
over the next few months as announcements are made and new ideas are shared with everyone
in the community.
s the multi dimensional, pop fueled, color exploded dream like haze that was Comic-Con begins
to fully dim and fade from accurate remembrance, I can’t shake the feeling that this year was s

DeviantART announced a month ago that through a new organization, Dadotart we applied to manage a new Top Level Domain (TLD) called “.ART.” We are committed to having the .ART TLD — the Internet addresses that could end in .ART — organized and distributed with the full participation of the global art community.
We need your help!
We need your help to show public support for the Dadotart application. The application process to manage a TLD is long, arduous, and intricate. Help us gather as a true art-centric community. And please spread the word to everyone who loves the arts or is part of the arts because we aim to have .ART be home to everyo
