This fine musician has set my poem "Under Water" to music, sung it, played guitar, recorded himself and posted the excellent result on the web for your enjoyment at soundcloud. Click that link to listen. Here are the words:
I jumped and then I sank too deep.
I do know how to hold my breath
but the surface is too far away.
It happened on an August day.
I should have drawn a deeper breath.
I jumped and then I sank too deep.
A cruise for tourists round the bay -
a chance to sit and catch one's breath.
But now the surface is too far away.
The young crew with a sense of play
anchored for us to swim, no less.
But when I jumped I sank too deep.
I will not exhale, will not inhale,
I hold my breath, I hold my breath,
though the surface is too far away.
I break the surface. All is okay.
I take a breath, I take a breath.
And who has never sunk too deep
and found the surface too far away?

Book Writing Blues..Book Writing Blues2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm going to write about it, baby, going to put it in a book.
I'm going to write about it, baby, put it all in a book -
about everything you gave me, and everything you took.
It will be a book of joys, and a book of sorrows too.
A book of sweetest joys and a book of sorrows too.
Anyone who reads it will know why I am blue.
It will sell a million copies, and everyone will know -
oh, at least a million copies, and everyone will know
that you are the kind of woman that would treat a good man so.
But there will be a sequel in a year or two or three.
Yes, I will write a sequel in a year or two or three.
If we're not happy by then I will write a trilogy.
A toast to the bluesA toast to the blues2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I got myself together, you know what that's about.
I showed the blues to the door and ushered them out.
I shut the door and locked it, so I was safe inside.
But there was blues in my kitchen, looking me in the eye.
I said, "How did you get here, when I just threw you out?"
The blues said, "There's a way, Slim, with any old house."
"You may live inside a castle, you may live in a shack.
Throw me out the front door and I come in the back.
"If there is no back door, then a window will do.
And you won't even hear me, in my cat burglar shoes.
"If there is no back door and no windows at all,
I come like electric current, through the socket in the wall.
"And if you have no sockets and you have no juice,
one door and no windows - then you really have the blues."
There was no more to say, and there was nothing to do.
I poured some wine in a glass, and said, "Blues, here's to you."

Jump on in, babe, I'm gassed up and ready to go.
We'll leave trouble behind us and go down the road.
I've got a head full of dreams and half of them are about you.
Come ride with me, babe, we'll make some of them come true.
Everything is broken but some things still work pretty well.
While we are living we'll leave the half-dead to bury themselves.
Some people wait for permission, but it won't ever arrive.
You have to choose for yourself to get in and drive.
There are hazards on the highway, but I know how to use a jack.
My trunk is full of spare tires, we can deal with a flat.
We may run into storms, but that will be all right.
I got new windshield wipers and my weather seals are tight.
We can drive in the rain, though we may have to go slow.
If it rains mud and frogs, we will pull off the road.
When we check our rear-view mirrors, we will look without fear.
The objects in those mirrors are further than they appear.
If we come to a bo

I'm blue as a bottle, I'm blue as a bone,
I'm blue as old Sisyphus rolling that stone.
I'm blue as a cop and blue as a thief.
I take all these pills and I get no relief.
I'm blue as a river and blue as a rose,
I'm blue as an emperor wearing new clothes.
I'm blue as a porpoise and blue as a peach.
Any cure for these blues is way out of reach.
I'm blue as a cheese and blue as a chair,
I'm blue as a handle holding on to thin air.
I'm blue as a candle and blue as a cloud.
I think being this blue should not be allowed.
I'm blue as a spaniel and blue as a spruce,
I'm blue as an orange that is all out of juice.
I'm blue as that boy who was blowing his horn.
I've been blue as can be ever since I was born.
I'm blue as a tractor, I'm blue as a train,
I'm blue as a rain

We broke the covenant and thrived, convinced we could go on.
But when we saw those penguins fly we thought we might be wrong.
The sound of five hands clapping fell upon the ears of all.
The sixth one had gone off somewhere to write upon a wall.
A trumpet played so sweetly in a nearby space.
A waxing moon was in the sky with clouds that looked like lace.
I heard it in the alley on the night of April 3.
I stopped and stood and listened, though I had places to be.
I'm going back to old K.C., why don't you meet me there?

driving trouble awaydriving trouble away9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I met trouble on the street, it asked me for the time of day.
I checked my watch and answered, "Time you were on your way."
Trouble said, "Well, maybe I'll walk with you as you go."
I said, "Is there any way to stop you?" and trouble answered no.
So I walked on with trouble, we went down Ezekiel Street,
passing by those dry bones where a great army met defeat.
There were wheels above us in the sky, their sound a steady drone.
I saw how that made trouble smile, and I wished I was alone.
The longer I walked with trouble, the less I liked his company.
But he said, "You are all right, son, I think you belong with me."
We came back to my neighborhood, not saying too many words.
When we cut through the little park, I was watching all the birds.
I said to trouble, "Take a look - see that crow so big and black?
It's being chased by those two sparrows diving at its back."

It's been too long since I traveled, and I'm not satisfied.
I'm going to get a mystic donkey, and go for a ride.
I budded then I bloomed and now I'm going to seed.
I think my mystic donkey will be just what I need.
Everybody tries to tell you what you can and cannot do.
But a mystic donkey tells you about the road in front of you.
I turned forty-three last Friday, now I'm almost forty-four.
I got to ride my mystic donkey before I can't ride any more.
A storm came down from Russia, covered everything in snow.
A mystic donkey keeps on moving when no else can go.
Last night the moon was full, seven whales were in the bay.
When you ride a mystic donkey, no one can make you stay.
The world is full of trouble, it could almost make you cry.
A mystic donkey sees i

When you see the world is made of cardboard - man, that's a surprise.
Some people try to accept it - some won't believe their eyes.
The caribou wear breathing masks because of what's been done.
The weasels tie them up with thread and think they cannot run.
We call him Dr. Oxygen, we watch him at his task -
who knows what he is breathing beneath his beaky mask?
You may keep your own place spic and span, you may vacuum every day.
But the stuff going on outside your door - who will sweep all that away?
You may get yourself a solid safe and stash your precio

I have an old blue dog, as big as he can be.
He eats way too much but he keeps me company.
I call him Jim and he always calls me sir.
I don't make him do that but it's what he prefers.
He sharpens his claws on the oak tree in the yard.
His claws are nice and sharp but the tree is kind of scarred.
If I sit at the piano he gives me a sideways glance.
But when I play boogie-woogie, he always starts to dance.
He goes to town on Tuesday after I help him groom,
comes home again on Wednesday smelling like perfume.
One time he fought that orange cat that lives a mile away.
But then they licked each other and they are friends today.
He saved a lot of people that time the sky fell down.
They gave him a nice medal but he doesn't wear it now.
One thing he never learned to do is play the violin.
He says he played the banjo once and he thinks he could again.
If I can't sleep at night, he turns the radio on

The captain would not listen when the crew politely questioned -
he said he had to hold his course and finally shipwrecked us.
With twenty thousand miles to go to reach our destination,
we sent a message on ahead that said, "Best not to expect us."
Some studied what had happened as if details were salvation -
they only found we had not known how little did protect us.
We tried to take the captain down and relieve him of his station -
and still he stayed the captain, somehow able to deflect us.
The poets and the priests conferred and offered consolation.
"We'll do all that we can," they said, "as long as you respect us."
They say that trouble has a way to bring people together -
if that is true in fact, would someone please connect us?
At least heartbreaking moons are giving nights of peaceful resting -
we lie awake and gaze at them till dreams come to collect us.

everything about modern consumer life
promotes the cliche
the hardworking network marketeer
those who have a strategy for being popular
regardless of the quality
or and especially the originality
of their work
so frustrating it must be
for those who try to promote

the world is becoming very similar
every city on this planet is starting to look the same
those who ruthlessly promote themselves
can achieve commercial success
while those who strive to promote others

too many artists
just built on the drive
Hi...Hi my Da friends,Hi...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I haven´t been here for several months... Well, I definitely realized, that I am just not able to manage my DA account without giving up all my free time (actually, I am not able to manage any internet account, including fb, g+, etc.). Yet I have to admit, that my life is in a phase, when it´s quite difficult for me to concentrate to anything else currently.
I´ve spent beautiful time here, met many lovely friends from all over the world and I truly love this site. I am not saying that I´am leaving DA, I am just not planning to be here so often as last year and I thought, it would be fair to tell it to you and not just vanish without a trace for another long time.
But - first of all - I want to say THANK YOU for all your support, kind comments, favs, features and everything and apologize for no response in the last months.
Thank you very much to everyone.
