They were children again, staring at one another through fourteen-year-old eyes.

"Rudy," the girl gasped, and leapt at him. Her mouth met his and groped at it hungrily. The sticks of the boy's lemon hair seemed to rise up even further in surprise, but his hands found her waist and held tight while his mouth moved from hers down to her neck.
