Finding MyselfToday is a dayFinding Myself8 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
When all I can say
Is 'I want to run away'
But this feeling doesn't stay
I am distracted from the thought
Although it is never completely gone
My disappointment grows, though
I can never seem to get up and go
I always have an excuse
A reason, or even a few
That I always seem to use
Just to plant my shoes
And never act to change this life
One I've come to think is a lie
Since the happiness I portray is to get me by
Not a true happiness, but just a glimpse of light
That I force from myself, so I don't alarm
Those around me, or cause any sort of harm
Because I know they would go too far
Just to see what makes me

FacadeFacadeFacade1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
A smile is,
Across her face.
Always so happy and bright.
Kind and carefree,
She is the girl
That everyone envies.
Never one to
Be unkind to
Any living thing,
She is of pure heart.
But that is all a lie.
Underneath her cleverly skilled,
Facade,
There is a girl,
Sitting in the dark.
That girl who
Hides in the
dark with no facade
Is dead inside.
Eyes welled up with,
Unshed tears from all
The pain she has to hide,
Nevermore can she see the light.
Long since has
Feelings of light died,
And turned her
Numbed to joy.
Yet,
She still hides
behind the smiling facade.
Never to be free
of the her bounded chains.

New BeginningsSlumping branches line the street,New Beginnings1 year ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
The deafening sound of silence creeps.
No more shall the daytime creatures play,
Nor the autumnal colors greet the day.
For every season must come to an end;
Moving us along the evanescent bend
Of a new dawn; a time of new beginnings,
When everybody will collect their winnings.
For winter is coming.
Winter is here.

Roaming upon this anguished land,
So please don't try to understand,
For all my actions are unplanned.

Deny us,
We never were,
So why trust?
The lies unfold
Crisp and new,
So tell me why
I trusted you.
Your days of fun
Are long since gone,
So get your things
Off my front lawn.
You broke my heart
Not once, but twice,
So let's not make this
A game of thrice.

And brass knuckles will take us
Because surely the pre-eminent know
How to carefully construe their circle
Drawn tighter than any medieval cloister
Genteel? Yes, on most occasions
Suffice it to say that for many
Persuasions
The in-crowd is consistently complicit
In creating requisite exclusions
Based on arbitrary delusions
Of a grandeur that none outside
Can attain
So with pleasure I
Give a good riddance
To the peacocks and their yes-men
Who sit at the top of their roosts
With the brass to condescend to
Me and you
With loud "Thank You"'s
And all manner of blather
Enticing us commoners to gather...
For their sport

ChoiceDeep down in the depths of my heartChoice1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
I knew that my brain wouldn't start
Yet I can't fathom why I took the task
Only if somebody had the pluck to ask
Now I am left wanderin' on my own
To decide what shall I make my second home
But my mind must make a choice
Or else hail the inner voice
At a roundabout I am stuck
Not knowing where to head to
Every path looks alike to me
And then suddenly they interwine
Like broken twigs off a tree's branches
My soul lies scattered on the ground
And with no one to rescue me
I am utterly LOST ++

Still there! On the bank,
I remember how we played,
we made our own world!
Days are no longer so long,
voices broken, songs unsung.

Why did it have to happen? Why? Who did it? The sound of the swing still plays in my mind. The swings. My favorite activity. I loved the feel of my long hair moving bank and forth as I swung. I especially like it that day, when the wind was strong and had blown my hair free of its braid. The swing creaked with each movement. Back and forth. Back and forth. Then I heard the bushes behind me shake. I assumed it was nothing more than a rabbit and continued to swing. Mistake number one. I felt a strong hand push me. I fell off the swing and rolled a little sideways. When I looked up the stranger was glaring down at me. I stood, shaking. My hair

LA BEAUTE D'UNE ROSELA BEAUTE D'UNE ROSE3 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Et quand la rose
Eut tant pleuré
De peu durer
Se sachant belle
Et toute mouillée
Encore plus belle
Pris son destin
Sécha ses larmes
Devint tout calme
Dans le matin
Ouvrit son âme
Pour le jardin
Vous eux et elles
Écoutez bien
Beauté n'est rien
Qu'un battement d'ailes
Un va-et-vient
Une étincelle
Mais dans le cur
De qui vous aime
Jamais ne meurt
Votre poème
Ni la beauté
De cette rose

The Modern Sage
By Michael Louie
An old man
Sits in a dusty old book room
And reads each day
By the light of a candle
All alone
With his gathered knowledge
And watches people with no time walk by
With ridiculous gadgets
Outside his window

Amid a great and shadowed place
He stands, and stands alone
Below his cloak and hood his face
Juts out, but skin and bone
He used to be a gentle man
Was kind in all his ways
But now he stalks, alone and cold
Throughout his ancient days
On an on, like a walking corpse,
He has no bonds with man
Though always a part of him hopes
To return where he began
Within each merry heart, you see,
There is a place where joy lasts
In many shrunken hearts of hate
The same was true days past
People ran and skipped and leaped about
They did not know of tears
But with each passing day of hate,
And scorn and lies and fears
The merry place gro

Now I will tell you what I've done for you
50,000 tears I've cried
Screaming
Deceiving
And bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me
Going under
Don't want your hand this time
I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily
Defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom
I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowining in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
I'm going under
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
So I don't know what real and whats not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore
I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm

All in all I can honestly say
I'm closer to what I want than far away
I'm just easy to get to grips to live alone
I don't worry, just not old or typical
I aim for blame not simple fault
I take the truth with a pinch of salt
I try but not very hard
Always convincing you
Never really needing to
and all in all I can honestly say
I'm closer to what I want than yesterday
The gear and the handle were likely to go
To break under weight of living alone
We'd come and watch but never keep time
Until we weren't looking but looking tired
What I'd like is not a good reason
And even with you can't explain
Or storytell how it was and how it
