SS: Like No One Ever Was
A/N: First of all, I don't want to hear any complaints about the "four moves" rule of Pokemon. The whole point of this piece is to explore the concept outside of its normal parameters in a more organic way. How many Pokemon attacks can you catch on to? ;D
This piece is a tribute to Pokemon, a big part of my formative years, as well an homage to the many (likely now pathetic) chapters I once wrote of Pokemon fiction as a child, and an expression of the idea of regret and loss in this land of Adulthood - reflection on who we become as we age, and how we cope with it.
Same Skies: Like No One Ever Was
I flex my toes, digging my nails into the dry dirt. I suck in a deep breath and slowly exhale, the steam pouring out through my nostrils. I am ready. I am a dragon in a can.
I survey my opponent on this quiet morning. He reeks of some old acquaintance whom I've met before, I'm sure. Hunched on all fours, he appears to be just as determined and prepared as I am. We exchang

"Oh my god, Brock, I-I think I'm in trouble. I mean, oh my god "
"Wait, what? Misty? Is everything okay? Are you all right? Are your sisters okay? Did you kill them? What's going on?"
"No, no, everyone is alright, relax. I- wait what? Kill them? Why would I- Oh never mind, I just- oh god, Brock I'm so sorry I just don't know what else to do, I had to call someone and god knows Tracy can't keep his mouth shut "
Brock scratched the back of his head and stared desperately at the utterly distressed redhead talking to him on the videophone, "It's fine, Misty don't worry, you know I'm always here for you. Just calm down and tell me what's going on."
"I'm an idiot."
"You are not an idiot."
The redhead had shook her head at him anxiously, "No, see, I am. I'm the biggest idiot in the world. I do stupid things and get myself into stupid situations because I'm an
Rotom is Watching You ...WARNING:Rotom is Watching You ...4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
I'm afraid that the same thing that happened to my dear friend, Michaela, will happen to me and you. Remember, Rotom is always watching you ...
Okay; you may call her a weirdo. Michaela mostly kept to herself. Even in the summer, she was never seen outside, but rather playing her Pokémon games in her room. She was the typical kid who got bored over summer vacation, so she restarted her Diamond game. Over and over she'd reset it, and she'd complete the entire game. She only ever forgot one part - that mansion in Eterna Forest. She may love Pokémon, but she was petrified to death of ghosts and scary movies - she never even dared to set foot in Eterna Forest again after she went through it the first time. Towards the end of summer, she got bored playing it over and over. She wanted something new. HeartGold and SoulSlver wouldn't be out until March, though, and the only other Pokémon game she had was Ruby. She didn't much like playing the GBA Games, so she instead d

That was the first thing I was aware of.
Shortly following, I gained a shape, body, personality, and an odd craving for spice.
But then something changed. The numbers shifted, and the colours on parts of my body became different. I didn't really mind; I was still myself.
Next, the numbers surrounding me faded and I found myself on ground, which happened to be lightly coloured dirt. Grass surrounded me, but I paid no mind to it. Instead, my attention was on the teenage boy in front of me. His hair looked white and I couldn't really see his face. I saw he was holding something purple, and after a moment he tossed it into the air.
The next thing I knew, I was inside something. I wiggled, pushing on all sides of this tiny confinementbut it refused to budge. After a few tries, I gave up. Whatever I was in, I wasn't getting out.
Some time later, I have no idea how long; I was suddenly pushed out of my prison. The boy was back, standing in front of me and holding out something.
Blazing MemoriesGrowing up, life wasn't the easiest. Moving from school to school, adapting to new environments, dealing with hard challenges. It wasn't a fairy tale. I had few constants outside of my family, but one thing that I always had to cheer me up was Pokemon. Whenever I had a bad day at school, I could always turn to my trusted Gameboy and Pokemon games for a retreat to the wonderful world. I was an amateur at best after a few years of playing the Gameboy Color games, but it wasn't until I got a Gameboy Advanced and a Pokemon Ruby version that things became great.Blazing Memories4 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
I picked Torchic as my starter, because I felt best with a fire type as my partner. But things weren't easy after that. When I received that game, I went straight away with my favorite tactics and types from the Gameboy Color games, but they didn't work anywhere near as well with the 3rd generation mechanics. I was forced to learn how to be the best with these new abilities and Pokemon, and I grew stronger as a person. My once Torch

How a person can last for so long,
And suddenly just
All the emotion,
The thoughts the mind creates,
Just builds up within you,
Weighing you down
To a point of wanting to sleep
Is this what growing up
Is supposed to feel like?
All this stress we carry.
Its crazy knowing that one person can feel
All of this inside themselves.
I remember the innocence.
Of being a child.
So amazed with the world,
And what it held,
And had in store for us
You really start to realize,
The freedom you had,
The worry free life
Playing games with your friends at school,
Not having to worry about your looks,
Or how you behaved.
I miss that.
All the things you have to deal with,
When you're a teenager
Seeing those happy couples
Throughout the halls
Can't help but make you smile,
As you pass
Just you and the shadow that follows
You wish you had that too,
But luck never crosses your path.

" Honey! Come downstairs, it's time to go to daycare!"
The little boy sat on his bed, grappling with his shoelaces. After a moment of trying to remember how the buneary was supposed to go around the tree to get to its hole, he angrily gave up and kicked his shoes off across the room. He hurried over to his closet and grabbed his old strap on shoes; they were a little too small for him and he would have to scrunch up his toes, but he was in a hurry. He shoved his feet into his shoes, strapped them in, grabbed his bag and dashed toward his bedroom door. He ran past a mirror hanging on his wall, opened his door then stopped a couple of steps away from the top of the stairs. He ran back into his room and clawed his way under the bed, where he found his official red and green Pokemon League hat. He put it on and jumped to his feet, running past the mirror, stopping in front of it for

Out of all the baby Pokemon in the world, young Unowns are the hardest to put to sleep. That's because the Unown species is the most mercurial oneand certainly the most peculiar in their desire to continue learning, even through exhaustion. Baby Unowns want to keep their exasperated parents up all night, inquiring about words and songs and the spirits of their departed ancestors. Of course, though adult Unowns still retain their curiosity, they must put their children to sleep somehowand when they've worn out their threads about the great sacred fire bird, Ho-oh, and the three legendary dogs, they know they must tell their children the greatest story in Unown legend.
"Quiet down now, child," they whisper, "and I'll tell you the tale of one brave little Unown that changed the world."
"What did he do?" The children ask, their single eyes wide in awe.
"If you're good, perhaps you'll find out," they answer, winking at them with a loving gaze.
And only then do the children fall

You're the cutest thing
That can ever be found.
Your toes are plump,
Your soles are soft.
You made a squeek
When you coughed.
You're very fun
You're very strong.
You look funny

You'll always be number one,
Never number two,
Bacause of the simple fact,
That I love you.

Thought and sought to solve their queary, on all the trials and woes of life.
Then the silent screams awaken, all love'd lost and were forsaken,
Many gifts and off'rings taken, sunk deep into them like a knife.
Words of pride and joy and sorrow, plunged deep into them like a knife.
And thus they go on with their life.
Then once upon that moonlit hour, hidden from scorn and heated glower,
Thoughts of many gifted flower, still thriving on avoiding strife.
While they pondered thoughts were fleeting, many others they were greeting,
All but death was what they're cheating, still driving on avoiding strife.
Then through the sky the light does come, cutting through just like a knife,
Stopping the flowers' chance for life.

As it sucked the color from my clothes
And a chill claw up my body

And felt the warmth of a sunless sky
So I kept walking
Seeing your face,
I began sprinting
Seeing you turnI began smiling
Seeing you there
I began touching

A RemembranceA Remembrance9 years ago in Biography & Memoir More Like This
As a remembrance for Veteran's Day and being a soldier, I thought I would write something that is dear to my heart. Something that was an experience I will never forget. What follows is a brief synopsis of the events leading up to the main occurrence.
In April 2003, the men and women of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (3rd ACR) deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Though these men and women, who will be referred to from now on as Soldiers, were trained in their respective jobs and equipped to the standards of the United States Army at that time, none of them knew what to expect. Some, a small minority, had seen combat before, either in Bosnia or Desert Storm. There were even a few Vietnam vets that had gotten out of the military and signed back up at a later date. But in reality, none of these Soldiers knew what was to come in the next year of their lives.
The Soldiers hit the ground in Kuwait in April, spen
