Another Legendary series from Wes Craven, The Scream franchise is the poster child for 90's Horror, One of the first of its's kind and then widely imitated, Scream depicts the story of a killer that dresses up in a Halloween costume based on the painting also called "The Scream". Later this look and killer was dubbed "Ghost Face" even though more than one killer (in total 7) have adopted the look. Ghost Face's other trademark was calling his victims before he murdered them, he commonly taunts and refers to horror films and as mentioned in Scream 2 "always answers a question with a question". The murders in this franchise all revolve around the main character Sydney Prescott played by Neve Campbell. Scream was intended to be a Trilogy and made a big deal about it since it was so rare in a horror genre... then they made Scream 4. Scream 4 was supposed to be the start of a new trilogy but i think it's whole existence is a mockery of the first three which were a great trilogy. In saying the i did rather enjoy Scream 4's plot but it wasn't nearly as good as the original 3.

One of the middle hitters of the 90s where Pembleton University is hounded by a killer basing their murders on Urban Legends. Due to the releases of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend didn't grow as big as it could have. It had decent actors in Jared Leto, Michael Rosenbaum, Joshua Jackson, Rebecca Gayheart (with the down side of Tara Reid but *SPOILERS* at least she dies) and guest stars from other legendary horror franchises such as Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) Brad Douriff (Chucky) and Danielle Harris (Jamie Lloyd from Halloween 4-5) it also had Julian Richings who would later go on to play "Three Fingers" in the movie Wrong Turn. Beside that it wasn't one of the most popular 90's movies it did spawn 2 sequels, The second one has it's moments but ruins it's hard work with a rather stupid twist. The third isn't worth watching as it has nothing to do with the first 2 since it takes the genre from serial killer to supernatural haunting.

Based on a Stephen King novel "IT" depicts the story of 7 adults who suspect a series of murders is the handywork of a creature they fought when they were children. They return to their hometown of Derry to once again face IT who knows all of their fears and uses them to it's advantage. IT's common form was in the shape of Pennywise the Clown played by Tim Curry. The story is a little similar to A Nightmare on Elm Street, an evil entity only visible to kids and plays on your fears to kill you, in all it is a good movie even though it is very different from the book, This movie is also the start of many peoples fear of clowns.

The Ring, The American remake of a Japanese classic that kicked off the massive run of remakes from other countries. A News Reporter investigating the mysterious death of her Niece discovers a video tape that if you watch it you die in 7 days. Within those 7 days you are haunted by the mysterious long haired girl from the tape which we later find out is named Samara Morgan. This is by far my favorite Japanese/American remake even though it has became cliche. The original has the same core story line and was called "Ringu"
