Honestly I don't know why I keep trying to draw Saff at weird angles, I'm never happy with the way his bent quills turn out. xD
The pic above is basically 2 layers of digital sketching, the under is just sort of the rough skeleton and the more emboldened lining is the final sketch... which I would probably start using the Pen Tool on since I'm never happy with how dirty my tablet sketches look. xp
Sorry for not puttin out a new pic in awhile, I was plannin on startin on one but I've been basically coughing constantly for a week now and I can't even sleep lately, just coughing right through the night. Probably have a few hours of sleep/nap time at most over the last 2 days so I am completely out of focus ATM.
And don't worry, Im gunna stop spamming all ur inboxes with this purple thing for a little while and draw some other characters n such.
P.S. I'm still as messy an artist with the WACOM as ever, I envy people who can draw neatly with it as if it were real paper, I am not so gifted. xD
Sorry for plaguing everyone's in-boxes with political bs in my journal, but it's really been sidetracking both me and my mom with all of the potential problems it may cause....
I decided to ignore all the bs and ignore the fact that my premium membership is up and I'm too broke to renew it atm and just doodle up a nice little meal picture that revisits one of the first pictures I drew with Saff.
He's happy with the ideal Chinese restaurant meal. ^^
And lol at the open Warhol can in a bronzed frame.
YO THIS IS EPIC MEALTIME!! WATCHU KNOW ABOUT CHINESE!?!?!
EDIT: Updated just so the little thumb pic would actually show up. :3
If it's December 1941 in Casablanca, what time is it in New York?
While it was fresh in my mind I decided to doodle up this little homage to the 1942 classic, Casablanca, and one of Hollywood's greatest actors ever, Humphrey Bogart. I know that a film like this is sort of out of my age bracket but I enjoy all good movies from any time period, big movie buff.. and Casablanca is one of the most powerful movies from its era.. or ever for that matter. Beyond that there is just a mystique about the classics that you don't get in the modern movies.. whether it be the style of acting, level of drama.. or just the qualities of a film shot in black and white that you don't see in something that is Technicolor-ed.
Smoking was a big thing in movies back then, and sure enough Mr. Bogart (who runs a bar in the movie) did his fare share.. Incorporating the signature movie tactic for intensity in the 40's and 50's I gave it some modern flare.. letting the lit puff stick bring some color, albeit a little into the picture to intensify the look.
Hope this is something that everyone finds pleasurable to the eye, tried to make it as gritty and yet as smooth as possible.

Humphrey Bogart - December 25, 1899 – January 14, 1957 Thanks for the classics, may you continue to rest in peace.
Well here's the third anniversary picture, once again I am sticking with the super theme because it seems appropriate to make something like this for the occasion every year, just to continue the trend. The original was very bland and uninspired so I figured I'd try for a more "floaty" look in this one, and I also made sure to not use the color black AT ALL.. it really made the picture pop out in ways I hadn't expected.
As for the aura, I envision it as being more of a random burning, swirling cycle of heat energy over the more accepted DBZ flame. I figure that for at least the briefest moment, the area directly around him would get heated by said energy to high levels, setting little particles and such on fire (to explain the sparkles) and that would just sort of be how it looks.. a shapeless gob of swirling energy that sets little particles and dust on fire for a flashy effect.
Thanks for stickin' by me and such for 3 years, dA, I really hope you enjoy this little rendition of Super Saff and I hope for many more good years in the future.
I'm about 6 days late but oh well, I'm late with everything. With a little inspiration from I decided to go the 4th wall breaking route again, this time playing on a darker persona for Saff and using a bloody hand to break the 4th wall.
The background is a stylized version of the original sketch that I thought looked sort of like some sort of corroded wall of some abandoned building's basement... unfortunately someone decided to go down there for a good scare.. and got one.
Ruin the Quetzal Download the image for a much larger view which helps see some of the lines.
If you're thinking by looking at the first pic you see.. "hey a Quetzal is supposed to be green gold and red.." that's not always true ( [link] ) it's just that the national Quetzal follows that color scheme.
I haven't quite figured out a story for him yet but I've got ideas... it helps since I know he's tied into the rest of my other characters since all of their stories are tied together in one way or another... I enjoy populating this lil universe. All I know is I'm probably gunna end up darkening his arms a little bit to better differentiate where the arms are no longer feather covered.. till then, this sloppy sketch will have to do as good a job as it can. XD
I know I haven't drawn his shoes yet but that's because I go through a whole different design process just for them.. Expect some black rugged outdoorsy boot type things, that's the plan. xD
Haven't thought too much about his fighting styles yet either but I've toyed with the idea of "uber quickness" since short burst matrix speed like reactions are kind of neat... and I've always enjoyed Albert Wesker (who does that) so who knows. And as for attacks, a lot of that is still up in the air but I like the idea of a hand stab.. which is one reason why I incorporated the short claws.. Attacks like that are fun to think of.. clean and messy all at once. xD
He's probably going to turn out as a Byronic Anti-Hero like Saff but a darker one due to circumstances. Gunna make this one dangerous. xp
I also apologize for the crappy coloring and randomly adding an extra highlight to the side of his hand.. but like Schism, they're both concept sketches so I figured I'd move em out quickly and continue to work on primary projects.
1- My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are troubled.
2- Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.
We're going to steal a ship? That ship? 3- Commandeer. We're going to commandeer that ship. Nautical term.
So yeah I saw Pirates.. it was awesome! ^^
There was even an Impersonator, and as he drunkenly danced off into the night after the film showing I was sure that he was headed to the concrete parking bay... in search of his beloved vessel.. The Black Prius.
