House Leo boasts one of the most well trained and well equipped infantry in the whole Empire. Their footmen are armored from head to toe with platemail and serve as the steel backbone of the House . Armed with sword and tower shield, Leo Footmen fight in tight wall formations, allowing them to push lesser enemies back through sheer mass. As with all of House Leo, footmen are exceedingly proud and show great prowess and disciplined ferocity in battle.
Leo Footmen are professional soldiers, paid by the House. Their armor is courtesy of House Leo, and bear little decoration one would see on officers and nobles. However, footmen do bear the Aegis Ruber, the small shield on their left shoulder. This often shows the footmans company any major campaigns he has participated in. Footmen also have a small ornament on the top of their breastplate that displays their name.
Indulging in some lore making. Part of an empire in my mind. I'll make more of these House Leo guys and then move on to different Houses/factions in the empire. House Leo will mostly have Roman-style influences, as seen by the shield and skirt.
I wanted to work on painting some original characters again but then I realized I already had some decent ones started--it's just a couple years ago I didn't really know how to push them farther so I just called them "finished sketches" and left them alone.
Cú Chulainn is an Irish hero from Celtic/Gaelic culture. He also appears in Scottish and Manx storytelling. He was a knight of the 1st century and often compared to Achilles in Greek Mythology. When enraged he would become a ‘bezerker’ as in Viking culture. He was slain in a fight and like El Cid in later history, was propped up in an heroic pose, spear in hand to strike fear into his enemies even after death, and it was only when a raven landed on his shoulder that his demise was revealed.
He was seen as an Irish hero, riding a chariot, and defending Ulster against usurpers including Queen Medb of Connaught and even appeared to Saint Patrick as a ghost.
Cú Chulainn‘s appearance is open to interpretation, but he is described as clean shaven, young ( he died at 27 ), and some tales tell he had seven fingers on each hand and seven toes on each foot. And seven pupils in each eye. There is much description of him on his Wikipedia page, as there is of his life. There should be plenty of inspiration there in his adventures for an interesting version of this mythological hero.
This is a replica of an original 16th century German Tapulbrust harness and a 16th century Raven's Beak Pollax. This armor is made from wax castings off of original pieces, utilizing original armor smithing techniques. It is made of mild steel and is custom fit to the owner.
From top to bottom we have the Close Helm (head), Pauldrons (shoulders), Brassards (arms), Gauntlets (hands), Cuirrass (breastplate and backplate), Tassets (upper thigh), Cuisses (thigh), Poleyns (knees), Greaves (calves), and Sabatons (feet).

FINALLY FINISHED! I finished it last night, but my internet was down =_=....
~Chisa-chan won my 10k Kiriban, and she asked me to draw her RO Knight =3 Sadly yesterday I didn't have internet from noon, so I couldn't see the ref. pic provided by her ( stupid deji didn't save the image before =_= ), so... I had to paint her hair and eye by memory and I used the normal knight colors from the concept art. I also added a cute ribbon on her head because it looked better with a headgear than with no one ;;
Sry Chisa si no se ve igualita a tu knight ._. espero que te guste, pq le puse mucho empeño en que quedara bonita >_<!! Tengo una version a 300dpi si la quieres imprimir alguna vez, esta esta a 72dpi.
Remind me to never accept to draw a knight again! >_< too many details and metallic parts... it was a pain to draw those scale-like thingies and to shade'em, not to mention the armor... please forgive me for such a bad coloring on the armor! T_T and forgive the proportions mistakes here and there and the lame positions of the armor on her arms
