Children of Darkness: Ch 21A Dark Plot
Tironar was flying across the city of Warfang at great speed heading towards Vynin´s house. Glancing behind her she could see the battle raging near the wall and felt a short urge to turn around and go help out. But she quickly banished the thought. What she was doing could potentially win this war for them, she could not allow herself to be distracted.
The rage she had felt at the sight of Vecna had lessened and she could think more clearly again, and that had given room to doubt. What was Vecna and the Observer´s goal?
She knew it involved freeing Spyro, but there was no knowing if she was just being manipulated to help Vecna achieve some dark goal or even worse they were in league with Demetrius.
"Having second thoughts?" asked a chilling voice suddenly and Tironar felt a weight on her back.
Tironar her head so she could see the Observer sitting on her back. "What is Vecna´s goal?" asked Tironar coldly.
"Her goal?" said the Observer surprised and chuckled.

"We'll meet Spyro and Cynder" said Ravina calmly even as Spyro and Cynder circled her ready for battle. "And please use my real name, Ravina. I do not want to keep any secrets from you."
"Real name, yeah right" snorted Cynder. "But if you don't want to keep any secrets then you can start explaining yourself immediately. Why did you betray Blazirin? Why did you aid Tironar? What did you hope to accomplish!?"
"She accomplished what we planned all along" said the Observer and Spyro and Cynder looked at him. "We released the Purple Dragon from his prison so our own plans could continue."
"You wanted to release me?! I would rather have remained imprisoned than having someone scarred for life because of me!" said Spyro defiantly.
"That was not an option for us." said the Observer coldly.
"We waited as long as we dared for you to find another solution, but in the end I feared my brother would do something unexpected, which he still did, but "

Evening was falling on the valley where Vynin lived when everyone gathered just below her cave. Most were curious as to why she had brought them together, except Zera, Larshyr, Ghronur and Carx who stood silently simply looking around.
But Spyro and Cynder walked out of Vynin´s cave and slowly descended to the ground below, you could have heard a leaf fall if you stood among the people gathered there.
For a long time the silence lasted, Spyro and Cynder simply watching each of them in turn with a happy smile. Gairu and Tehanu standing next to Hunter and Kali whom they had flown there and then Coldalar and Fliera next to them. Carx and Larshyr standing on either side of Zera with Ghronur standing behind them like a guardian angel. All were here, together again at last.
"Is that the Legendary Purple Dragon?" a small awed voice suddenly asked breaking the silence and Spyro and Cynder immediately looked towards the source, a young male green dragonling standing ha

The rain fell from the grey clouds in a steady stream upon a rock plateau near Warfang, covering it and the dragons gathered there in a watery coat. The obelisks stood in a square on the plateau each of them facing a corner of the world.
The western obelisk was made from beautiful blue rock with a completely smooth, but also cold surface. The rain seemed to gather around its surface and running only slowly down the obelisk like it did not want to leave it.
The northern obelisk was made from made from hard brown rock and several cracks ran across the surface of it. It stood tall and mighty none the less, seeming only stronger and harder from the cracks in it surface.
To the east stood a obelisk molded from yellow almost golden rock. Suddenly a single lightning bolt pierced the clouds and struck the tip of the obelisk adding to a already deep black scorch mark hinting that it was not the first lightning bolt to strike the tip.

Spyro and Cynder slowly walked back through the tunnels towards the vault. Cynder was leaning on Spyro tired as she was after the long battle and because she just wanted to feel him close to her right now. She had her wing draped across his back just as he had with her. None of them spoke; they simply walked quietly side by side in the dim light of crystals illuminating the tunnels, relieved and peaceful.
As they reached the vault and stepped inside, their children as well as Hunter immediately turned their attention towards them. The only one who did not react was Gravi who was sleeping between Vynin's forelegs as she lay on the ground.
"Is it over?" asked Vynin slowly.
Spyro and Cynder both slowly nodded.
Vynin sighed in relief and smiled a little as she looked at Gravi´s peaceful face.
Then slowly she rose to her feet, being careful not to disturb Gravi, and walked over to her father.
For a moment Spyro and Vynin simply looked at each other.

The battle was raging back and forth. More dragons from Warfang had pushed through the tunnels and were now fighting the enemy forces with all their might.
But Cynder saw little of this as she was treating her father the best she could. But it was bad and though none of the wounds were really deep, the pain and blood loss was rapidly draining Ghronur of his strength.
Vynin had found them not long before and were watching her mother from a distance along with her brother´s, Gravi and Hunter. Hunter had also bandaged her wounds, but her right foreleg remained impossible to stand on. Gravi was still asleep after he had collapsed during the fight with Infernio.
"Cynder " said Ghronur slowly. "Just leave me I will be okay."
"I am not leaving you here like this" answered Cynder firmly. "Now lie still please, you are only making it worse for yourself."
Suddenly a shout was heard above them. "Brother!"

Ravina stood in the old egg chamber of the Dragon Temple. It was in ruins, with large cracks in the walls where plants grew unhindered and the roof itself has collapsed upon itself giving clear view to the sky.
She imagined this was how it look years after the attack by the Apes, but why was she here? The temple had been destroyed along with Malefor long ago
"Why did you run?" asked a gentle voice behind her suddenly and Ravina´s heart skipped a beat. It was a voice she had not heard for many years and which she had thought she would never hear again. She was about to turn around, but then stopped.
"This is a dream, is it not?" she asked calmly.
"Why would you think that?" asked the voice gently.
Ravina took a deep breath and then turned around. "Because this place should not exist, because you should be dead."
In front of her, standing at the other end of the room and watching her with a smile Ravina saw who she expected. Electoru stood before her with

Spyro stopped and looked down. For a moment he stood without saying anything. Then slowly he took a deep breath and looked at the Observer. "Is this true?" he asked his voice wavering a bit.
"As true as it gets" said the Observer with a calm expression. "Ravina is your mother, nothing will change that."
Spyro looked away and glanced towards Cynder who was watching him concerned. He then looked past her towards Ravina who was watching him quietly. "I I need a moment to myself" he said and slowly walked to the other side of the cave where he lay down with his back turned to them.

It was a beautiful summer day in Warfang as the sun stood high above the houses and streets. Everything was peaceful as the citizens went about their usual business down below.
This was the view as seen from the pale blue dragon that was descending towards Warfang's Castle. Peace, quiet, it had been like this ever since Spyro and Cynder had disappeared twenty years ago. Off course he had seen them ten years ago when they suddenly returned, but since they then choose to leave again he had not seen them and neither had anyone else. Most believed them to be dead, not even the Guardians knew the truth, all in accordance to their wishes.
And it had worked, at least it seemed so. For twenty years they had had peace, the longest time since Malefor´s fall and the effect had been clear. Everyone seemed peace with no dark shadows looming on the horizon and finally steps were being taken to rebuild what had been lost. Houses, villages and even a new Dragon Temple were being construc

"I am having a hard time sleeping with everything that has happened. In particular I keep thinking of Malefor and the last words he spoke after the fight" said Spyro without even turning around and Sceranu could hear and edge of fear in his voice. "He is still alive and though we defeated him he is going to do whatever it takes to return once again."
Sceranu walked up besides Spyro and looked out across the landscape. "From what I understand you and Cynder have defeated Malefor three times already, if he does return I am certain you can defeat him again" said Sceranu trying to sound optimistic. But he could no

It was morning and Demetrius was already wide awake. He was standing near a large table in the corner of his room going over a lot of notes and old books.
Most of it contained information he had gathered on his experiments through the years along with his father´s research. It was information gathered on the elemental powers of the dragons, the strange powers of the crystals and many other strange things in the world, most of which was probably only documented in those notes.
They were the very basics for everything he had made including the Iron Warriors, but though extensive, they were far from complete. Many things yet existed which he only had fleeting observations of and no real explanation, like the strange tree in the crystal fields.
Demetrius had always held a desire to solve the mysteries of such unexplained things and though his desire for conquest had always overshadowed it , he always returned to his studies when he

Vynin was resting on the grass just outside a cave in a small valley just south of Warfang. This was her home, the place she had decided to settle after she left her parents cave in the Valley of Avalar.
As she lay on the grass she was watching Gravi who was sleeping near a nearby tree.
Though he had grown in the years that had passed, the change was less extreme than with her two brothers. Still Gravi´s body was starting to show some of the traits Vynin had noticed with Demetrius, most notably his spear like tail blade, but Gravi´s horns seemed to become more like his mother's.
But one trait which was entirely Gravi´s own was his laziness. Whenever he was awake Gravi would dart around like a projectile, but it would not only last a few hours before he lay down to sleep again. And he slept heavily.
As Vynin lay there however, she suddenly heard the sound of wings beating and looked up. Just as she did that a familiar voice shouted to her.

He was still missing his left arm and his head was bowed heavily "Forgive me for my failure, master" said Infernio in his plain metallic voice which revealed nothing of his feelings. Only his actions showed his regret. "I underestimated the strength of our enemies."
Demetrius looked at Infernio with an almost amused look. "Please Infernio, there is no need for that. You did everything I could ever have expected of you" said Demetrius finally with a smile. "Stand up, there is no need for you to degrade yourself for something which does not demand it."

She still thought of the nightmare that she and Larshyr had shared and it weighed heavily on her as she feared what it might imply. It was only a hunch based on two cases, but she feared the nightmare might be linked to the dark element she and Larshyr shared, the oppressive dark feeling she had had waking up from the nightmare supported that. She knew one who could probably confirm that and maybe tell her more, Demetrius.
