Looks like I jumped on the bandwagon and made myself one of these Pixel IDs. Pixel Art Is pretty fun. I modeled myself after Sol badguy from Guilty Gear if you did not notice. Info @ [link]
GO MAKE ONE NOW!!!!
that's my char, in mecha. i figured the best way to represent me is in a form i truly enjoy drawing (and thinking about). having loved the idea of robotics and super cool robots (i sound like a kid i know >.>, decided to make my DA ID as a mech (it was originally supposed to be a megaman-ish character but meh)
Well after working on this for a couple of days (yes days XD), i finally finished it and i'm happy ^^
actual pixel sprite: 2 days (with breaks and sleep)
pixel frame: 30 minutes
bg: less than the time it took to make the frame
portrait: LONG! i did a rough sketch with a ballpen in some restaurant then scanned it but i ended up retracing the whole thing in photoshop again >.> then added details shading etc.. rawr >.>
just a few notes:
special thanks to for first giving me the idea of actually doing this
i havnt done pixel art in such a long time and this was a rather refreshing piece ^^ im so used to doing isometric pixel art and this particular piece didnt really follow that strict pixel art style so it wasnt so hard (well, it was but.. not as hard as doing something in isometric >.< )
pixelized robot was first sketched, then scanned, then i followed derek yu's pixel tutorial and ta-da ^^
oh, and yeah i simply followed the guidelines given by in his journal ^^
<3 to all the other people making pixel ids out there
noticed how so many people have ed this so i'd just like to say, thank you very much
WOOHOO! I LOVE this trend. I've been getting a huge kick out of everyone's ID's, as I grew up with Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Marvel vs Capcom, Fatal Fury, Final Fight, Samurai Showdown, etc.
This is my first experience with pixel art, so it took me awhile to get it done. You can't see some of the detail I put in because I drew it a lil' too big. I had to shrink the figure a little to fit it on the ID, so it looks less pixeled than I'd like. I'm happy with it though. Makes me laugh.
As it's supposed to be me, I woulda named him WannabeSpiderMan, but it wouldn't fit.
Can you name all of the superheroes I'm wearing? There are four from Marvel, four from DC, and one from Dark Horse.
First pixel art ever, but so much fun! *3* I didn't understand the tutorial (because I'm THAT blonde) so I just treated it like cellshade albeit with a pencil tool, it came out all right though. <3
The portrait took longer than the actual pixel art (kinda sad considering the latter's full-body), haven't CGed in Photoshop for AGES, man I love that programme.
SOME EXPLANATIONS: 1. It's pink and black because I love pink but I didn't want to blind myself while colouring it. 2. MILLITARY UNIFORM IS LOVE. Pleated skirts, ribbons, bows and boots are also love. 3. I'm sorry the only style I don't fail much at is shoujo.
I had a difficult time choosing the cool power I could use for this ID, since all the subjects I take are based around tonnes of writing, I thought pen and paper would be appropriate~
Her attack stats aren't awesome because let's face it, you can only do so much damage with paper cuts and other paper-made weaponry. Speed is mediocre because although paper flies fast, we should all know I'm the most unfit person in the world. 8D
The pen comes in for her "special attack" where she casts spells by writing the incantation down on paper, and I think the rest is pretty much self-explanatory. LOL.
Time: 15 hours+ Sketch & Portrait LineArt: Open Canvas 3.02e Plus Pixel LineArt & CG: Adobe Photoshop v.7.0
Wow what a long commentary, I blame Art History. O3O
