For some strange reason i love square food! So i have found some of the best square foods i could find on DA.
When I was a Child...When I first joined DeviantArt, i thought it was the greatest place in the world to be; where Art dominated every page, and journals allowed some insight into the devious minds behind deviantlicious masterpieces. Comments were where appraisals, or constructive criticism was given to artists - whether budding, or seasoned but seeking improvement. When I was a Child...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
These days, I've been seeing more of troll-like comments where a pat on the back, or good pointers should be.
My DeviantWatch box is flooding with thousands of Deviations a week from groups - which I would not have minded if at least 50% were the stuff that left me in awe in regards to the beauty and transient nature of Art, while the remaining works were open to helpful feedback (instead of flaming every comment that didn't 'love' the art.)
We use the word "love" too freely these days - probably more than we actually Love anything or anyone.
I'm sure we have some members who are pre teens, others who are in their teens, some who are new young
Garden of the Gods and focusing on more art! Hello everyone, it's been a busy summer and I'm happy to say that I'm down to working one full time job again, with a significant raise so I can pay my bills much easier now. I don't really share much of my personal life here on DA, but as you can tell from my artwork I LOVE the outdoors and nature. I love where I live and plan on spending the last few weekends of summer outside before it gets cold. I was lucky enough to work a seasonal job at Garden of the Gods here where I live in Colorado Springs. Here is a website to the park: Garden of the GodsGarden of the Gods and focusing on more art!4 months ago in Personal More Like This
I worked as park safety patrol staff and LOVED IT. Because I was outside so much I was able to take photographs of the resident wildlife there. Below are some of photos of what I experienced on the job.
My friend Wes and I rescued a Bullsnake (Pituophis catenifer sayi) from some very thick plastic string that it couldn't escape from. I held the snake while Wes cut him loose wi
Call for Help for the 5th Annual YACYAC stands for Young Artists Contest. This is a contest project that I started back in 2009 to encourage young artists ages 13 through 17 working in traditional media to compete within three age categories. With the spending cuts at schools all across the US, most severe cuts were experienced, unfortunately, in the arts. This was meant to give a fun opportunity for the youths who would otherwise not have such opportunity to participate in an art event of this nature.Call for Help for the 5th Annual YAC8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Here is the group page where the contest is held (Contest submissions are accepted there, and the important announcements are made through the blog on the page.). You can see the past entries and winners in the gallery folders. It is always an impressive event with a lot of talented young artists participating. --> :iconyoungartistscontest:
Here's what I need your help with:

Butiran Padi kitaButiran Padi kita1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Seperti petani lainnya kadang mengalami paceklik
Dan bahkan gagal panen itu juga sering kita rasakan
Dan dalam perjalanan ini,
Aku merasa sering menjadi beban untukmu

Anybody can be an artist. These days there are no barriers to enter this field of work, no critical, educational, cultural, or economic requirements. In our modern way of thinking, anything can be art, and anyone who creates art is, must be, an artist. To me that makes perfect sense. We are a wonderfully creative species, monkeys who like to make things. To create something new out of raw materials is one of the chiefest joys of being born human, and that process of creation is worth sharing, celebrating and dignifying with a special, wonderful word: "art".
There is a smaller group of monkey-makers who take special pleasure in making pictures of things. I'm one of those, and I suspect you are too. We're the ones who scrawled on walls with crayons, doodled in textbooks, couldn't learn a formula without a diagram, and who never seemed to have enough pencils or paper close at hand. While other kids scribbled poems in notebooks, or ran faster th

Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my mind for quite a long time: Daily Deviation suggestions.
But it wasn't until I read ^Lyricanna's There is no nice way to say it but and `alicexz's New DD Suggestion rule that I felt the need to echo their words and add my two cents.
Quality of art: When sending a Fan Art suggestions, please bear in mind that I want to feature unique works. The best of a fanartist's gallery. What I look for in a Fan Art Daily Deviation is not cuteness. Cute just doesn't cut it, like ^Lyricanna said. I search for emotions, technical skill (composition, shading, colour, etc), interaction of the characters with their surroundings and other characters. I'm looking for pieces that tell me a story and/or show emotion. Of course, there ar
Anyone Can Watercolor!Watercolor is a fantastic medium. It is usually one of the first paints that a child ever paints with and discover what they can express through a brush and paper. %watercolorists is excited whenever someone discovers and explores watercolor, and is continually looking for ways to make those first paintings a fun and successful experience. We've gathered together resources that artists put together to help others discover this medium.
The first thing you need is the desire, the creative spark to discover this wet and wild medium! Of course you want to start with the right tools, and these tutorials goes over the items perfect for the beginner.

Eyes, they say, are the window to the soul. And capturing such a piercing and expressive look in a photograph is a highly sought after skill. The Afghan Girl exhibits suspense, suspicion and a sense of distrust at the person behind the lens, she gives off an air of maturity, a foreboding feeling - a vulnerability behind years of strength. That, is what makes her so captivating.
Sharbat Gula is her name, although few even know this rather important detail. Sh

Going through my own friend/watch list, I have lots of big inspiration. And while I try to tell most of you through my comments on your works, sometimes, I don't think you really get how much of an inspiration you really are to me. Sooo... here we go.
I pretty much fell in love with their art the moment I looked at it. The subjects are so fascinating and intriguing. And even the style of the human faces are extremely unique. <3 But more than anything, I adore the colors. They're both so cool and warm at the same time. And that neon cyan blue just really catches my eye. u v u It's all extremely gorgeous and meaningful. Not only do I wish that I could one day also create such character designs as well, but also be able to envision color schemes like this.
I just ADORE the versatility of her works. Every picture spe
Food Photography - back to basicsFood is a necessity for daily life and good health (the right kinds anyway), but food is also fast becoming something of an Art as well as many turn to their cameras once a mammoth baking session is over and capture the delightful dishes in attractive and alluring ways. Since the beginnings of Still Life Photography, food has been a subject and whilst the topic has remained the same - methods, equipment and ease have changed in varying degrees across the years. Food Photography is still a genre that is vastly overlooked and majorly underrated in the art world.Food Photography - back to basics1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
It all began with Still Life Paintings back in the 17th Century. They were as far from commercial as a style could get and certainly weren't created with selling in mind. However the skill and main aspects that realism painters took back in the 17th Century are kept close to the hearts of Food Photographers today as they grip onto Realism, effects of light, composition and arrangement. Props have always been an important part of

I had just entered a treasure-trove. It was a tantalizing world, hidden from view from the rest of the world. My jaw dropped in disbelief
"Take what you like, young man," said the sweet little old lady who stood by my side, garage door clicker in hand. She was a neighbor and had invited me to her home in our sleepy suburban neighborhood because she had, in her words, "a few art-supplies to give away,"
So here I stood, in her garage, which was filled with what appeared to be literally thousands of paintings, stacked tightly in bundles from floor to ceiling.
"These were my husband's paintings", she explained." Maybe you could paint over them and re-use them."
"What? Paint over them?" I asked in horror. "What are you saying? Don't you want your husband's paintings?" The sweet old lady shrugged and shook her head, in a sad, quiet way. "What can I do with these?" She responded. What you don't take today, the trash peopl

We have so much beautiful art in our gallery. This week the spotlight falls on all the pretty new work.
The word "pretty" has many nuances of meaning. What is "pretty" about these works? They may be pleasing, attractive in a graceful or delicate way, clever, or fine. Some of these works embody more than one of these qualities.
I hope you will enjoy our Pretty feature as a celebration of the coming of Spring.

“See a penny pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck!”
It doesn’t matter that I’m not a little kid, I still pick up pennies for luck when I see them. Though they have to be heads-up, of course. I also refuse to walk under ladders, I don’t open umbrellas indoors, and I try my best to avoid cracks in the sidewalk. It might be silly superstition, or maybe there’s something more to it.
What ever you believe, cultures and countries around the world and throughout time have decided that different symbols, animals, and events represent good luck.
Check out some of our favorite signs of good luck below!
I want to hear from you!
How did these symbols get their meaning?
Do you believe in good luck and bad luck?
HOW TO FEEL FULFILLED AS AN ARTIST"When you buy from an independent artist you are buying more than just a painting or a novel or a song. You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation and thousands of failures. You are buying days, weeks, months, years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You are buying nights of worry about paying the rent, having enough money to eat, having enough money to feed the children, the birds, ...the dog. You aren't just buying a thing - you are buying a piece of heart, part of a soul, a private moment in someone's life. Most importantly, you are buying that artist more time to do something they are truly passionate about; something that makes all of the above worth the fear and doubt; something that puts the life into living." - Rebekah Joy PlettHOW TO FEEL FULFILLED AS AN ARTIST1 year ago in Personal More Like This
HOW TO FEEL FULFILLED AS AN ARTIST ( OR HOW TO GET OVER YOUR SELF-SABOTAGE )

Artists Toolbox: Colored PencilsColored pencils are widely used as a fun and readily available art tool. I'm sure most if not all of us have tried our hand at colored pencils, even if it was only while we were children. While colored pencils may not be as respected as paints such as oil, acrylic or watercolors, colored pencils shouldn't be under-estimated in the impact they can and do have on the art world.Artists Toolbox: Colored Pencils5 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Different Types of Colored Pencils
Wax based colored pencils are probably the most common and readily available types of colored pencils on the market. As with any type of colored pencil, these come in varying qualities and prices.
Oil based colored pencils in my experience are not as easy to find unless you are shopping online or in an art store. These colored pencils are excellent if you are planing on coloring on wood or another similar surface. Blending oil based colored pencils ca
