My Minecraft Testificate InfestationIn Minecraft there are these squidward like villagers called Testificates. In a recent update they were given new abilities such as having babies to repopulating a town based on the number of houses there are. Since the requirement for a "house" is simply a room with a roof and a door, I decided to spend my time building a massive city for the Testificates to populate, using a generated village as a starting point. My Minecraft Testificate Infestation3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After building a number of houses, I began noticing the little children running wild and there becoming quite a LOT of villagers. I undertook a huge task of building a BIG open area underground with a couple doors and lights. Because the area was so big, the Testificates began to... um... OVER populate.
These little buggers reproduced the village so fast that I couldn't keep up and soon they were overflowing out of buildings. Mob attacks couldn't keep up with the rate they were repopulating, and the iron golems that kept spawning (for every 15 villager a new one spawns) made

New Snowden Documents Show NSA Targeted GoogleSLATENew Snowden Documents Show NSA Targeted Google1 year ago in Personal More Like This

The National Security Agency is keen to portray its surveillance efforts as primarily focused on detecting and preventing possible terror attacks. But a new trove of freshly leaked secret documents suggests that the agency also uses its powerful spying apparatus to infiltrate and monitor multinational companies.
On Sunday, Brazilian TV show Fantastico published previously undisclosed details based on documents obtained by Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The 13-minute news segment focused on the revelation that, according to the leaked files, the NSA apparently targeted Brazil's state-run Petrobras oil producer for surveillance—undermining a recent statement by the agency that it "does not engage in economic espionage in any domain." The Petrobras detail has been picked up internationally, and is likely to cause a serious stir in Brazil. (The country is

The United States has been funding and operating Al Qaeda for years — When the majority of Americans are approached with such a revelation, it is viewed as 'nonsensical conspiracy theory.’ An immediate response would be “if that were true the mainstream media would report on it and everyone would be aware of this!" - What those people don’t understand is .. That is not how the world works. 90% of all media you see from television is owned by 6 corporations.

You could call radio and the internet (which in many ways have merged) the last frontier of information which is why we see trade agreements like the

#S17 ART: What is it good for?I don’t know if everyone is aware of it but DeviantART have been petitioning ICANN so they can manage the domain dotART. This journal isn’t about that but it was something that inspired me to finally put some of my thoughts down about something that is happening to the Arts whose consequences are far greater.#S17 ART: What is it good for?2 years ago in Personal More Like This

I signed and endorsed their application not because someone should control the domain but more because it is going to be assigned to some group or other and if that’s so then DeviantART seem the best candidate for the job. Last thi

Lucifer - The Fallen by *RainerKalwitz
Marble, Granite, Bronze, Silver, Gold!
Early statuary depicted one’s god’s, and since the medium is
as much the message as the visual message itself – the medium had
to proclaim: This god is as forever lasting as this stone that His
rendering is hewn out of! But all that is solid eventually melts
away into the air, even the most powerful ancient gods and kings –
As the poet Shelley so poignantly noted in Ozymandias.
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp’d on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock’d them and the
Political/religious/philosophical conformismWhat's with people who define their political, religious, or moral views based on what someone else believes? For example, a lot of religious people run their own lives, and all too often other people's, based on what their sacred texts ordain. They think anything Jesus, Muhammad, or what have you abhorred is something they should abhor themselves without critically evaluating it. You see the same pattern in a lot of political ideologues; they even name their ideologies after their political idols, be they Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, or Thomas Jefferson. That I find especially annoying, because when you name your political or philosophical theory after someone else, the name tells me less about WHAT you believe than WHOM you're getting your beliefs from.Political/religious/philosophical conformism3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have no problem with admiring certain individuals or seeing them as inspirational, but I don't like it when people try to align their opinions with others' just because those others are popular or famous. Everyone is flawed, even the

The Traditional Through a Cracked PrismCreating art for those who feel a real resonance with traditional anchoring fairy tales, ~cidaq also draws in those who enjoy darker tales of mystery and films noir. As a storyteller who can create narratives in both words and watercolors, she often comes up with short stories to accompany her art.The Traditional Through a Cracked Prism3 years ago in Personal More Like This

modern, very mischievous intelligence is obviously at play. The media of pencil, inks and watercolors
as well as the skilled technique and composition are solidly anchored in the traditional, but the

I always knew you were like that
A player, a cheater, a stealer
Taking girls hearts and tearing them apart
You would think I'm sad but I'm not
It's your own loss, not mine
The truth set me free from your cobweb of misery
Trying to get all the blood out of me
Ha! Try all you want boy but I don't bleed like the rest
Feelings for you are all gone
The nice boy I once knew was only wearing a mask
You're full of shit, treating me like trash.
But I guess that's how we learn isn't it
How you have to be pushed around
To find out that inside you are much stronger than they think
You get up and you fight back, this time I'm on the right track
I warned you not to mess with me
But you're so good at ignoring me
That when I hit you with all these words
It really took you by surprise didn't it?
You didn't think I had it in me, did you?
I'm not afraid of you anymore,
The way I used to be before
Back then when I'd see you I'd get butterflies
Now all I see are li

Secular Humanism for the winSo I just got back from the Östergötland regional meeting of the Secular Humanist organization. It was a very rewarding experience... it was very enlightening, learning about the philosophy- I think I finally found a philosophy with which I identify.Secular Humanism for the win3 years ago in Personal More Like This
We were about forty or so people meeting up, and the president of the association, Christer Sturmark, (who is a minor celebrity) held a very interesting lecture on humanism, religion and society. I've never felt prouder to be an atheist; being among likeminded, intellectual people was plain uplifting. I am joining, without a doubt.
...and in other news, while the people here on DA do not seem to consider me too much of a strident, aggessive atheist, my atheist family does. Oy vey, the lack of self awareness that an Aspie must endure...
