In Other NewsHi everyone! I've missed you all! It's been ages since I've been on here or posted anything. In Other News9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Here's a little update:
November 10th, 2011 I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I went through treatment, and finished radiation about 3 months ago.
I'm doing well, and I'm learning how to live my life to the fullest at this point.
After losing my Mom to cancer 2 years prior, this was all quite a shock. So much has happened, and I have grown so much as a person.
I'm definitely NOT the same Katy I used to be. She's gone.
The girl who was constantly depressed has left the building.
There's no time for that bullshit anymore.
Since treatment has ended I've been enjoying my new hair, and also my new "life partner" Portimer. No, he's not a person, he's a chemo port in my chest. I will have him for a while, until the coast is clear.
Unfortunately the type of cancer I have is very aggressive, but also like to recur in the time span of two years or less. Everyday I worry and feel anxious
Transliterations: Modernising MythsTransliterations: Modernising Myths1 year ago in Personal More Like ThisSo it's Valentine's Day here and I'm off to buy shoes to go with my posh frock for my fancy dinner because blue moons just come around sometimes, but I thought I'd pop in to remind you that there's approximately forty-eight hours left to submit something for the contest. So to all you stragglers, you revisers and last-minute magic-makers, you photo finishers: pull all the stops out, stop arsing about and get those entries in. Think of it as a Valentine's gift to words.
At the request of participants and for the sake of my own failing sanity, the Modernising Myths Contest will be extended by ten days. This means that the new deadline is February 15, giving you until the day after Valentine's Day to complete your entry--and if you still need more time, I suggest cancelling your Valentine's Day plans and finishing it then. Because we all know you love writing more than you love your partner. And if they're reading over your shoulder, I'm sorry, but they had to know som

Publishing Resources ListMake sure youPublishing Resources List2 years ago in Literature More Like Thisthe news article!
So you've written something freaking awesome. You've edited a million times (and if you haven't, turn around and go do that. Right now). You think you maybe want to take the leap and try publishing something. But you have no idea where to start.
Well, this is a good place to be.
This the journal where I'll be keeping a running list of all the publishing resources I find, both on and off dA. Most of it will probably be related to literary journals, since that's the stage where I'm at in my literary career, but I'll add things about book publishing as I find them.
If you ever find a great resource, or if you'd like to request something specific, please leave me a note in the comments.
Also this journal is probably going to be super-messy and slightly badly-categorized for the first few weeks, so if anything looks out of place and/or you can think of a better way for me to organize this, please

The New Street Photographer's ManifestoFebruary 7, 2013/by $techgnoticThe New Street Photographer's Manifesto3 months ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
Street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it the “decisive moment”— the captured instant when all the photograph’s elements come together to tell a story in a way a text narrative of thousands of words could never begin to. It is what hooks people, both practitioners and advocate-devotees, on the art form. It is uniquely completely immersive in life— step out into the streets— in which the moment of artistic epiphany can never be guessed at until it suddenly happens. When it is properly mastered, it is as pure as the dawn of each new day, as true as the living organism of a teeming street scene catching a breath as one.
It's no easy task to pull a book together for publication and "The New Street Pho
