Recovering from an evil cold that kicked the crap outta me last week so this guy was actually planned to go up some time ago.

The Kharma Actura is another 5th gen creation of the collaborative efforts of Oshen and Dies. The result of their efforts continued to yield sleek and aggressive beasts such as the Kharma Actura. Aggressive lines with a minimalist approach. The efforts of Oshen and Dies resulted in some of the most refined and effective FOILs ever to grace the battlefields of Polemos. Unfortunately these faedai were of the last of the era of the FOILs as their time was approaching it's close.

The name Kharma Actura is the result of the growing influence of the sendai Hindai movement. Obviously with some connection to Hinduism of humanities ancient past the Hindai movement is something that began entirely with the sendai and with them the first pangs of the return of some form of tangible spiritualism in SOL begin.

On the design of this guy I have to cite :icongenocidalpenguin: as influencing aspects of it's look as I decided to mash up some visual cues between the two of us on a few of the current FOILs I had been working on. Obviously it's the legs with this fella that has some aspect of GP's touch though I did my own thing, as I always do, and what resulted was this :) There is a pretty epic Vulne/GP FOIL pending posting so stay tuned.

Blown up light boxed pencil thumb with digital ink clean ups. Color in Photoshop CS3.

More pending as my brain recovers it's lucidity.

Cheers!

Finished this one up as my study break from finals. Its rather rushed, but I sorta wanted to just be done with it. Yeah I hate schoooooool.

Dont feel like writing much of a backstory. But its probably some modified ver of the Shinshutsu [link] for use by elites or capitol guard or something.

Many of you good folks who surf Deviant looking for fab mecha designs have likely, at some point, ran into works by this impressively talented guy Those of you who havenít go to his gallery now, trust me you wonít be disappointed. This machine is one of genocidalpenguinís designs I offered to CG color. Itís his illustration and the cool white lion on the left shoulder is his design as well I only did the colors here :) Itís a design for a short comic heís working on and I can only imagine itíll be quite a cool ride once itís done. He commented the look of the background has an 80s mecha model kit kind of vibe, I found that an appropriate observation because coloring this design felt like building a badass custom mecha kit and painting it all up with a cool paint scheme, it was just fun. I think the design is very cool and has a nice visual appeal to it, imaginative and stylish. I will surely do more colors for select GPís mechs in the future, no doubt. Itís quite often nice to do colors, every now and then, for other talented artists work rather than doing your own works.

Edit: Lion crest sans green bg :)

Installment 25: September to December 18, 2009

Final exams are over. Time for recovery...

These are some of the sketches and component studies I've done in the past few months, within class and whenever I had a little free time.

I've become re-attached to Rapidograph technical pens despite their high maintenance requirements. The consistent lines they can produce and the "fast" feeling are simply astounding, especially with the smallest tips. It's been a lot of fun experimenting with loose and tight methods; perhaps there's a middle ground where I can finally settle upon... ;)

And oh yes, I really like the Five Star Stories manga series--particularly their Mortar Headd designs! Take a look at them; maybe you'll find some inspiration from Mamoru Nagano's chivalrous universe too.

A summer and a semester's delay later, and the fourth installment in the "Jump!" series is finally complete. Attempting to finish this was...well, a foot to my face; it's quite humbling how quickly one can regress in ability without sufficient time to practice.

Done in PaintTool SAI.

Revisiting an unnamed universe that I haven't touched for years, meet the Judgement, aka. the Serpent Queen, and sometimes referred to as the Naga Princess. This machine is tentatively placed at about 70 metres in length, weighing close to 250 tonnes. Melee weapons consist of a polearm as its main weapon, along with a stinger on its tail, retractable blades in its forearms, and a pair of crab-like 'feet' hidden within its hip armor. For range, it is equipped with a pair of cannons within its forearms, as well as produce a large beam emitted above its head, and several missiles from its chest. This giant mech was designed with its pilot in mind, specifically for royalty. Fast, agile, yet very strong.

Previous mechas within this unnamed universe include one Solsaint and one Heldread. One day, I do eventually want to give that universe a name and shove some proper characters in there. Until then, however, the giant robot will do.

Unlike Stratus, I've never made a proper version of Shadow. Nari Varayana is the pilot for this Craft.

Shadow is the codename given by Nari after he acquired this Craft. This Heavy Artillery Craft Series 10 (HAC - 10), has a right arm rifle port, and the unit is built for heavy recoil and endurance, which allows it to carry missiles and a heavy artillery rifle.

After Nari acquired this Craft and was not able to sell it to an arms dealer. He later adapts this Craft as his main and replaces the previous rifle attachment on Shadow, which was damaged during the raid. The new rifle is a custom nameless attachment designed by Winston - Nari's engineer. The rifle has been known to hit targets over 21 km, and shoots standard tank shells with slight modifications.

The Shadow can replace its lower legs with land tracks and be converted into a FORTRESS class Craft. The legs and arm + rifle port can be replaced by flight capable attachments and parachutes and be converted into a VALKYRIE class Craft.

A demi-suit from the Anno Astra universe...

Saab S-97 Skeggox
a.k.a. 'Piranha'

The Saab Skeggox demonstrated that, despite being considered a second-rank political entity, groups such as the Midgard Union were still capable of turning out first-class weapons of war. Developed and manufactured entirely by Saab and its subcontractors, the Skeggox proved to be quite the popular export item, with customers consisting mostly of small states and independent military contractors. Recently, the LOH has taken delivery of three battalions' worth for evaluation. Given the League designation of 'Piranha', these were reported to be in use with the 56th Expeditionary Regiment on the heavily forested world of Morwood.

Named after the Viking bearded axe, the Skeggox was designed to be a powerful, yet flexible, multi-purpose demi-suit for the assault role. It is liberally sprinkled with universal hardpoints fully compliant with League weapons standards. Armour is a multilayered affair composed of carbon nanotube & superconducting matrices sandwiched between a carefully arranged mix of advanced rigid cermets & soft polyamides with built-in 'intelligent' features. The pilot is seated entirely within the torso, which features extra-thick frontal armour. While there has been criticism regarding its rather exposed hip joints, these areas can be protected with little loss of movement by additional armour attached to its groin hardpoints. Another criticism is its large size and weight, towering over and out-bulking most other demi-suits. Saab claims, though, that its larger size permits it to carry heavier, more powerful weaponry, its thicker armour offsets its larger profile and its quick-change powerpack gives it operational endurance comparable to other late-generation demi-suits.

As is, the Skeggox lacks any internal weapons other than its turret-mounted variable laser and its countermeasures dispensers. The laser has multiple frequency settings and can be fired as a pulse or a continuous beam, with a proportionate increase in power consumption. The dispensers are usually loaded with anti-sensor screening grenades for defensive purposes. The hand weapon most commonly associated with it is the Bofors SG-45R, a 25mm hypervelocity coilgun with an underslung 75mm bomblet-launcher.

Unusually, for a demi-suit serving in the 56th, the example depicted in the illustration is lightly armed, with no anti-infantry weaponry other than its turret laser. Other than the Bofors hand weapon, it is equipped with the UF-70, a turreted, semi-automatic 70mm plasma tube designed for long-range accuracy. Even though it shows signs of wear, this particular demi-suit doesn't seem to have come under significant hostile fire.

The Bofors weapon is similar to the real-life FN P-90 in appearance only. While, in the P-90, the rotating portion is at the rear, it is reversed in the SG-45R. This really has no function other than to facilitate magazine loading. The magazine holder rotates 90 degrees to the side and, being located at the front half of the weapon, makes the magazine easier to manipulate with the demi-suitís other hand. This is particularly significant for demi-suits with thick frontal armour, such as the Skeggox. As for the magazine itself, the ammo feed is at the rear while the front end, which plugs into the rotating holder, serves as the power conduit. The weaponís buttplate serves as a clamp for securing the magazine firmly in position.
