DID YOU KNOW: Men have a 14% higher risk of developing cancer than women and a 37% higher risk of dying from it
Statistic from uk.movember.com
Movember is, basically, a whole bunch of guys growing mustaches and / or beards and making themselves willfully look silly (in some cases, not all!) for the purpose of raising money and awareness for testicular and prostrate cancers and men's mental health (and I think all men's health things). I think their tag line last year was something like 'putting a face to mens health' but this year its GENERATION MO and Don't mo alone.

At first, sorry for being inactive for so many many many many days, I think this was my the longest journal silence!
I just was not in the mood, sorry. This time I post no photos, sorry.
You know - wolves in Brno, no job, no money, angry family :/
But at least something which made me smile: I got my second Daily deviation!
I opened my dA account and in my messages, I saw many fresh faves on a photo which was not the newest. So I was like "hm... maybe I got a DD....? Can I hope in that?" - and it was true! thank you, it really pleased me and I appreciate it
At second: yay. I am a softie and I got somehow touched by the birth of royal baby I find cute how the UK guys celebrate it I hope the baby will be healthy and strong and that his parrents will stay together as a happy and loyal pair in love, so the baby will have a wo

Raindrops Fans are Amazing...I mean...CRAZYI really mean it, you guys... I'm always impressed with how much support my fancomic gets. I still get tons of feedback from it all the time, and daily notes asking for its' update. Sometimes, I get notes from fans who are overly passionate, or maybe not so polite. Sometimes they are just awkward, albeit very charming...Raindrops Fans are Amazing...I mean...CRAZY3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But you guys...
You guys, THIS ONE.
This. TAKES. THE. CAKE. I don't even...
It was so unbelievable, I have to tell you.
So a couple of days ago I checked my DA Notes and there was a pile of messages waiting for me. I haven't been able to check DA often as of late due to work and the fact that my Computer has been dying and I've been trying to avoid using it as much as possible until my new Computer arrives. ANYWAY, I was surprised to find a note from my friend, masa-kocha. I opened it, and this is what it said:
She also happened to be my coworker, and sat like... right across from me. Curiouser and curiouser why she would note me instead of just asking me directly
Please pass this onShopping at the grocers recently, the young cashier suggested I should bring my own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. I apologised and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days." The cashier responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." She was right about one thing -- our generation didn't have the green thing in "Our" day. So what did we have back then ? After some reflection and soul-searching on "Our" day here's what I remembered we did have.... Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the shop. The shop sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilised and refilled, so it could use the same bottles repeatedly. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the shop andPlease pass this on4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Feature: Pancake DayTomorrow is Shrove TuesdayFeature: Pancake Day4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Day) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is linked to Easter, so its date changes on an annual basis.
In most traditions the day is known for the eating of pancakes before the start of Lent. Pancakes are eaten as they are made out of the main foods available, sugar, fat, flour and eggs, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the ritual fasting associated with Lent.
Above info taken from Wiki, for the full article here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrove_Tuesday
This time of year in England all the supermarkets have isles dedicated to making pancakes. Ready made pancakes, pancake mixes, lemons, sugar, raisins and syrup (the usual toppings that are used here) Personally I am not really much of a pancake fan but searching through these photos is starting to change my mind.

Ever wondered why a certain piece doesn't have a DD? Well I probably don't know either! I most likely can't tell you why a certain piece hasn't been DDd (unless it's in Stock), but I can maybe give you a hint as to how to get me, personally, to be more likely to feature something as a DD. (

This is a series of articles where we interview a deviant who is both a
stock provider and a stock user.
Our second interview is with Kuoma-stock/JannaFairyArt!
Hello! Firstly, how is the weather in Austria this time of year?
Hi! We had first snow yesterday, no one has expected it because usually snowfalls begin in December
I see you have been on your art account, JannaFairyArt, for 5 years. Did you have any accounts before that one?
No, this is my first and only art account on DA.
You have some gorgeous fairy art. How did you get into fairies? Would you say they are your favorite mythical creature?
Thank you, happy you like them. In past I used to draw a lot of mermaids, they are actually my favourite creatures but at some point I got a book of Brian Froud presented to my birthday and I have fallen in

But before everyone starts spazzing out I feel like I need to make a couple of reminders, as I always have to do once in a while regarding this fancomic.
I am deeply appreciative to everyone who supports and has followed this doujinshi, especially for those who have done so since it's inception waaaay back in 2005. Every other comment or note that I ever get from you guys asks about "Raindrops". I'm always happy and flattered that so many people like it, and the fact that they keep asking means they love it.
BUT there's "asking", and then there's rudely "demanding". And so:
1) This doujinshi is done FOR FUN.
-Which means I do it for MYSELF first and foremost, and it's for MY ENJOYMENT. If people happen to enjoy it with me then that's great. Which means, I do not DO IT FOR YOU, so don't demand it from me like you're entitled to it, like I have some obligation to please you. Approaching me with rage and

They are the three words that roil the senses like no others, that stir an inner emotional stew of mixed emotions that inscribes us, for both good and bad, for a lifetime. It's the inevitable arrival of late summer and the call to the classrooms that makes us tremulously anticipate the new anxieties and challenges that are about to be sprung upon us – but also the sweet rewards of ascending to new levels in pursuit of a life goal. For visual artists on their personal missions to achieving their own unique visions of success, in art and life, it is once again time to seek out the guiding wisdom of the old masters as well as the new kids with all the new tricks of the trade.

Texture Your World ContestTell us the story of your world in textures!Texture Your World Contest3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We are surrounded 24 hours a day by objects that have texture, they may be smooth or bobbly, old or new, bold, bright, shiny or dull. You might see a texture every day and never notice it until you start looking. Do you sit at a desk that's textured, or pass an interesting tree on the way to work or school?
We want you, in the form of a triptych (thats 3 images forming a larger image see example here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych ) to tell us the story of your textured world. Each individual texture should stand on its own, both as a useful resource and as a cohesive part of the whole story. What story you tell through your texture triptych is up to you - but they must be textures that tell a story of your world in some way.
There are 3 categories for this contest, each of which you can submit to twice.

NEW CONTEST: Retro Photomanipulation! HBD, DA!!!It's DA's 15th Birthday!NEW CONTEST: Retro Photomanipulation! HBD, DA!!!4 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Have you ever wanted to create a photomanipulation in an older style or using a past cliche, perhaps with big, fluffy dresses or butterfly wings? Perhaps you wanted to make a lizard-creature or a vampire? Get excited! This is your chance to modernize an older look and win prizes!!
To celebrate DA's birthday, we'll be going retroactive. That means your job is to create a NEW photomanipulation from an older style. Do not copy someone else's art; rather, create a new, unique artwork inspired by an older style or theme.
This is not an attempt to bring back old styles or cliches. Rather, this contest is a chance to celebrate the evolution of the photomanipulation community. Here's the trick: Your job is to take an old style or theme and make it your own: fresh, relevant, unique, and creative!
Here are just a couple of stylistic examples just to show you what we'r

My dA story[Wow, it's been ages since I wrote a journal, so I thought this little bandwagon would be the perfect opportunity to do that.]My dA story1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I joined dA in 2006. I was 16, a sophomore in high school.
A friend of mine suggested it offhand, and I had been posting my first ventures into digital art on forums for a private server of Ragnorok Online, so I thought to myself "why not! Let's see what this is all about."
I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but the moment I first started posting, I could feel something change. Having people interested in your art and stories was so motivating; it was unlike anything I had ever had in person with family or friends. Up until I joined, I'd never really taken my art seriously.
I was on here for a year before I started concepting SalaDays, a slapstick story about supernatural teens in school. A lot of people showed interest, so I started up a webcomic (and even opened up

Hopefully 2014 will be a good year for you and you already had a good start!
As we have a brand new year now and it is also January - what a surprise - let's start this with the Journal January Project! Keep your eyes and inboxes open for many awesome journal skins during the next weeks!
For February(maybe earlier) i would like to start with the themed DD weeks. I won't cover all categories, as a few of them don't get enough submissions on a regular basis. And i won't give a DD just for the sake of it. That's why my idea is to have mixed weeks in between. So there would always be a themed week, followed by a week that is open for all kind categories, followed by a themed week and so on.
The picked categories would be these:
stamps, deviantIDs, Journal/Gallery Skin, Adoptables, Profile Customization* (Avatar, Folder icons, etc) and maybe Devious Fun(Fella, llama in general)/Memes.

Tech tip - Sharing dA tags and html source code This is the least hideous approach I've been able to come up with without altering the appearance of the test and without running into problems with dA's online text editors software due to the fact that they process the text bracketed in the html … tag sequence. The following formatting workarounds will breakᴺ¹ the interpreters involved to get the desired results. Normally most of this would be achievable by using html escapes < [<], & [&] and h [h] however while these substitutions can be entered into the editor and do work, they only work one-way as should you need to do an edit on the post the online editor converts them back to <, & and h when it opens the saved text.Enclose code examples within a <code>…</code> tag sequence to display them in a monospaced font.Display tags: replace the leading : witTech tip - Sharing dA tags and html source code3 years ago in Personal More Like This

I know i have lots to learn in both areas and so i greatly welcome advice in both. Everything i have learned about my hobby has been thanks to DA, even taking up baking and photography in the first place thanks to DA. You lovely foodies and photographers have been of great help and inspiration to me and i am constantly learning a lot from you all.
There is one thing about DA that does bug me though, professional cooks or those who claim to be or know a lot about the profession. Not all professional cooks of course, there are many that are helpful and give great advice but then you always get those who love to criticize, i guess for any area of life you get snobs, cooking, art, literature etc. These are the people that really get under my skin because i find myself constantly explaining myself to them so

I've listened to The Wall for the first time ever yesterday.
Oh. My. Sweet. Jesus. All these wasted years...
Why have I only just listened to what has to be one of the greatest musical compositions of all time? Seriously, I can't answer that. I've been meaning to get to it, and I've heard the songs everyone knows by Pink Floyd on the radio; i.e. Time, Another Brick In The Wall Part II, Comfortably Numb, Money, etc. But the best songs are the ones I've heard yesterday; the ones I would most likely never hear on a radio station. My favorites from The Wall; probably "Mother," "Goodbye Blue Sky," "The Trial," "Waiting For The Worms," "Is There Anybody Out There," "Don't Leave Me Now," and that whole album, really. From the first song, my skin grew cold and I sat frozen in place. I sat through the story as horrifying images of war boggled my mind; images that has sparked a new form of excitement upon discovering something that makes one
