Looking for some answers
You hope that in your reflection
You'll find some truth and clarity
Believing that life will be easier
If you saw yourself the way others did
As you stand clueless staring into the mirror
Your reflection mimics your every move
You twist your lips and fake a smile
And the world concludes that your ecstatic
You cross your brows and frown
And they assume your enraged
You force yourself a chuckle
And your counterpart copies your movement
Yet no sound comes out of it
You scream to let your agony out
yet the reflection remains speechless
You finally hold your clenched fist up
And punch the mirror with all your might
As its pieces shatter to the floor
You break yourself free from the judgment of the world
You lay your eyes on your bloody knuckles
But you smile as if you feel no pain
You finally realize that there's more to you than meets the eye
The shallow world may judge on your appearance
But only a few will truly hear

I want to cram clouds into my mouth until my cheeks bulge, choke myself on them. I want to feel clouds pouring from my ears and my nose in fluffy streams, tickling the back of my throat, lovingly whispering for entrance to my padlocked heart.
When the moon comes out to play, I'll capture it in my hands, like a firefly, and I'll press my eye against a crack in my fingers to watch its star-studded wings flutter frantically against my palms.
I'll suck handfuls of stars like boiled sweets until they're fragile enough to crunch, exhale peppermint star dust into the black sugar-paper sky and laugh at the beauty of it all. I'll floss my teeth with lightning bolts, capture thunderclaps in bell jars, use rainbows as shoelaces and necklaces and bracelets.

FriendshipWe would sit on your porch, drinking lemon iced tea that your mother would bring out on a tray for us. I never liked it that much, but I drank it anyhow. I liked having a friend. I was always afraid of losing you to better people. The other girls would laugh and giggle, and chase the boys. We sat on the playground instead; talking. My tears burnt my eyes, but I didn't want to let you see me cry.
The playground supervisors watched the other kids play. Every so often I would see one of them glance in my direction, but then look away. I didn't know what that meant; all I knew is that I didn't want to be seen alone.
You sat with them at lunch. You never once glanced at me alone eating my peanut butter sandwich out of my pink lunchbox with butterflies on it. I wanted to transform from this ugly caterpillar into a beautiful b

The tries are silent.
My footsteps echo...
I come across a bench
mostly covered in fog and leaves.
As I stand, I stare down at the bench.
It appears old.
Obviously, no one has sat on it for years.
The bench stares up at me, returning my sympathetic gaze.
We're both alone.

And a little girl, my old best friend who turned into a demon.
Fourteen human figures without a face… they attack my soul
And everybody’s staring at me without an honest reason.
I am a victim of the people of the world
Who only want to hurt me, and my innocent family
Terrified of the ones around me, even those I love
When a nightmare becomes my reality.
I can’t take a shower without peeking outside the curtain
And I can’t close my eyes when I wash my hair
Because I’m horrified, afraid that when I open them
I’ll see somebody with a bloody face angrily standing there.
Sometimes I unlock the doors and then lock them again
And to be honest, I’m not completely sure why
And I can’t go upstairs at night, because what if there’s a fire?
I won’t be able to make it out in time.
I am a victim of a shadow named fourteen

True pride 'n' hubris is sliding in stride-
A leader a king... lays deep down inside.
I pat my own back producing a sharp pain, overcome with said pride and hubris, congratulating myself for being the best at what I do. Alright. So. Yeah. Maybe I am a dishwasher. But can I not feel pride at such a feat? Not everyone in this world can wash dishes as quickly and efficiently as myself. Maybe there are others out there better than me, and maybe their isn't but I am allowed to take pride in what I do, right?
Thinking hard about this I look over to my friend, my buddy, my pal. A marred face poked and pitted with poxlike scars carving through seas of rusty, crumbling facial hair. Hair that contrasts the black of his head and the blue of his eyes I pause for a moment and lose myself inside of that sea. I ask "On a scale of one to ten, how high are you right now." Every time you hold me, even in a small way,
It becomes all I want to feel,
Everything I want to last,
And the only thing in this world I don't want to end.
Sometimes I wonder if you could feel it too..
The way I try to wrap you in my arms,
The way I'm torn between the feelings of wanting more,
And the fear of losing myself in your warmth.
It's like the warmth in your voice when you speak to me,
The warmth in your eyes when you see me smile.
It's like a sense of love I crave to no end,
And something that always makes me hungry for more.

It would have, but I didn't feel like springing for the extra Lebanese snake-charmer fee.

Fall AwayI.Fall Away6 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
There's just too much in this world. I don't want to waste it. I don't want to reach out and have it all fall away, an autumn come too soon. I want to sink down into the Earth and just feel it spin, twenty-three thousand miles an hour and still not fast enough. Pin me down, just this once.
There's no way to catch on. The stars will float away before you know it. You can't float away from here. All you can do is hold on tighter. You should be fine. You should be able to just stare up at the sky and realize that no, there's nothing up there. Cities don't have that many stars, so live it up. What are you waiting for?
I want to tell you you're wonderful and have you fall like I do, breathlessly and without regret. That kind of rush is just so hard to come by these days. The world is changing so slowly, and I'm still waiting for my sunrise.
I won't tell anyone if you want to run away from here.
The Illusion of TimeSome say time exists only in the mind, that it is the greatest illusion . And yet for those unforgivenly ravished by time, it is the stone hardened reality of life's essence, something who's existence can't be argued, as it is plainly proved with a mere glimpse in the mirror .The Illusion of Time5 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

All that's been said can be seen as truth, unless you're thrown in the current of time like two birds from the hands of a grand illusionist.
In time, they'd grown to accept the petrified state of the ungraspable abstract, time, that the two forevers effortlessly flew amidst and in between like the flow of time

Shou sighed. What was he supposed to wear? Should he dress casual? Wear something fancy? One of his outfits for concerts?.. Was this even an official date? The vocalist lightly smacked his head on the wall. Then, he got an idea.
- Kai's house -
The door bell rang.
"Coming!" Kai called. He ran down the stairs and opened the door. The GazettE's drummer smirked as he saw his visitor. "Nice."
In front of him Shou wore a jet black sweat shirt with a white tie and black skinny jeans. It wasn't fancy, but it wasn't casual either.
"It was kinda hard to pick out clothes today." he scratched his cheek, smiling pathetically.
Kai smiled. "You look nice though."
Shou took a good look at Kai. He wore a tight blood red shirt and navy blue jeans. He was dressed nice, but casual. A pang of attraction hit Shou's stomach.
"Come in." Kai said.
Sitting on Kai's kitchen counter was 3 different dishes of food. The simple scent of the food made Shou's mouth water.
"Choose whichever you like." Kai smiled.
