Ten paradoxical traits of the creative personality
By Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
Of all human activities, creativity comes closest to providing the fulfillment we all hope to get in our lives. Call it full-blast living.
Creativity is a central source of meaning in our lives. Most of the things that are interesting, important, and human are the result of creativity.
What makes us different from apes--our language, values, artistic expression, scientific understanding, and technology--is the result of individual ingenuity that was recognized, rewarded, and transmitted through learning.
When we're creative, we feel we are living more fully than during the rest of life. The excitement of the artist at the easel or the scientist in the lab comes dose to the ideal fulfillment we all hope to get from life, and so rarely do.
Perhaps only sex, sports, music, and religious ecstasy--even when these experiences remain fle

Zombie Project done![Sherlock,House,GameOfThrones]Finally! It's finally over!Zombie Project done![Sherlock,House,GameOfThrones]2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Oh god, this has taken all my time for the last two months, and I can finally say it's finished xD Well, I explain:
This has been a personal project commissioned by one of my subjects (painting) in college, where I chose represent characters turned into zombies from TV shows. I chose BBC Sherlock (obviously), House M.D. and Game of Thrones. (I had thought about choosing four shows (with Supernatural), but hardly it took me so long for finishing the last painting in this limited time... so the number of paintings was reduced to three paintings. Anyway, I want to thank everyone who helped me some time ago to select this fourth show! thank you very much!!)
And well, I've used mixed media, acrylic and oil. Paintings with a size of 100x81 cm. And the hours are countless xD
I have to say I'm not painter... but I tried to do my best. I post them here in case you're interested in see them and give opinions.
(BTW, the picture with the Sherlock theme is very different
ALERT: ART THIEFSo I don't normally do this, but this idiot is on my last nerve. https://twitter.com/_NoufAlJ/media/grid She stole my work months ago. I told her to knock it off, got all her photos removed from her Tumblr, deviantART, and personal website, and now she's at it again. She's also stealing lots of other people's work. She's even using my photo as her business card. http://twitpic.com/6baq2jALERT: ART THIEF2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Here's a sample of responses I've heard from some editors over the years when I've raised practical business concerns regarding comic book publishing:
"No, we don't know exactly what books you'll be doing, but we're (insert name of big publisher) Comics, so sign exclusive with us and not (insert name of competing publisher who has titles ready for you)!"
"This is a (insert name of big writer) book! I know he's late, but just think of how many people would love to be in your shoes!"
"The page rate isn't good, but at least you'll be getting to work with (name of big superhero whom you're supposed to be a fan of)!"
"We won't fly you out or put you into a hotel, but you should come so you can sign at the booth for us! Who doesn't love signing autographs?"
What do these statements have in common? They're emotional arguments made to sidestep yo
SO-REALMy friends, it sometimes gets almost impossible to individually thank you for your support. It's Real Life that often becomes a bit hectic and hard to neglect even if one would like to spend here all day. Most of you know that what I really like to do is draw, but I can hardly find the time for that these days. Photomanipulation comes in handy when I need to share something with you, just to keep into contact, as it's faster and easier to do. So this is the stuff I will be most often posting and my way of sharing part of my thoughts and feelings with you.SO-REAL2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I hope you will forgive me for not thanking you always for your faves. I promise I'll try my best, but I wouldn't like dA to become a reason for more stress, so I decided I should take it easy from now on. I wish you understand and not think that I'm being impolite or ungrateful.
So, a BIG THANK YOU here and CONGRATULATIONS to all of you οn your Art, we all need it so much to open our eyes to Magic and get away from ou

My 25th Birthday + illnessHello everyone,My 25th Birthday + illness2 years ago in Personal More Like This
First of all: Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were as magnificent as they are supposed to be.
Secondly, thank you so much for all the incredible birthday wishes. It's moving and an honour to be embraced by so many talented individuals from across the planet. Thank you, once more.
Since I have barely replied any messages lately, I feel like I need to apologize for my absence. I have been very ill for 2 months, and I am finally (sort of) recovering since yesterday. For the same reason I haven't been able to draw very much, except for the last couple of days, so that's great! I am working on (old) commissions, finish projects, and start a new great project which involves lots of colour, uniqueness and realism drawing.
My only New Year's Resolution for 2013 is that, from now on, I will try to post something new at least once a week. I got some very interesting drawings to show you all.
May you be even more inspired and be surrounded by your loved ones in thi
Failography"It is important to take bad pictures" (Diane Arbus)Failography7 months ago in Art Features More Like This
This is the beginning of an interesting book by Clément Chéroux, Fautographie : petite histoire de l'erreur photographique (I don't know if the book was translated in english, I couldn't find it on the net, but the title should sound like Failography: a brief history of the photographic error).
Amongst the biggest 'mistakers' of photography, the book mentions and comments the works of many famous photographers: Man Ray, Lisette Model, Lee Friedlander, Ugo Mulas, Andreé Kertész, Lartigue.
Many are the anecdotes and the interesting discoveries, for example the story of a big national contest in France, in 1991, entitled 'Fautographie' (fail photography), a contest that had a big success, with thousands of entries and famous editors and critics working on decoding the case of the photographic error.
According to Chéroux what is commonly considered a 'photographic

Hi my friends
I just want to say I'm not going to have much time for dA for a week or some weeks ahead.
My daughter are coming to Sweden on her annual Christmas visit. Only 5 days left now.
I will be here now and then, but I want to spend my time with my daughter as well.
We have only a few week together.
But she is not home all the time, so maybe I'll create a work..don't know.
So I am so sorry if I am not so nice this weeks to come.
I will 'fave and run' a lot, just to keep up.
But you all know you are doing great works wich I love so if I fav your work, I love it even if I don't write in the comment box!
I don't know if anyone are going to read this, or will miss me or notice at all that I'm not here so much as ususal.
But I'll write this in my journal a

5%If you're reading this now, it means you're roughly in the 5%. Most people who go online to read about comics will end up reading previews and "top 10" lists--subjects we all, or course, enjoy. But the articles/blogs that critically analyze our industry are usually only read by two types: people in the biz whom are affected by this stuff, and the few readers who are interested in reading more than word balloons when it comes to comics.5%3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And I'm not knocking people who don't care to read these articles. All readers are contributing to the industry with their buying power, and I'm thankful for them, even if they're not in the 5%. I admit, if I had a normal 9-5 job and a boss that was kicking my ass 5 days a week, I might not have the tolerance for these sorts of articles either.
That being said, I think we need more of these articles/blogs written from different points of view--more from creators especially. The 2010s will likely be r

Photography Troubleshooting: Tripod or not?In a recent issue of Photography Weekly we talked about tripods and whether or not it's worth using one and what alternatives there are. I think it was safely concluded that using a tripod is better than not at all - but there are certain situations when you can do something else or when a tripod isn't necessary. Sometimes it's really hard to pick out the moments when it might be needed. Quite often you could end up out walking for miles carrying a tripod that weighs the same as a small elephant - and you don't even use it. So what are some useful tips?Photography Troubleshooting: Tripod or not?2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Firstly, find a tripod that DOESN'T weigh the same as a small elephant. I may be exaggerating slightly, but honestly there are tripods out there that weigh more than they need to. If you need a heavy duty tripod, you probably know exactly what you're supposed to be doing with it and don't need to read this a
