*disclaimer* Yes, i KNOW i have my own fan character and she has some "cliches" as well. And this is all an opinion....please do not rip my head off
LETS BEGIN, SHALL WE?
Number 11: The fan Children
Yes, i have my OWN fan children for characters, but i dont make them children version of the parents, i at least give them unique traits.
Most fan children consists of FCXOC, or OCxOC (even if they dont make sense/ show NO interest) (YES, I HAVE DONE THIS) To make it worse, they're bascially clones of their parents. Or they take a dead character, pair them with a living one, and say they have children through no explanation what-so-ever ( I mean, if you're gonna do that, at least GIVE an explanation. Like, they were resurrected for a short time). B

SORRY IT'S TAKING SO LONG!! USPS raised their rates for people outside the US and I have to make sure I have shipping for everyone in one action. Thank you everyone for your patience. I love you all. (it's true)
I wasn't able to get rid of these books as easily as I was thinking...so I still have them.
I'm running low on the couples books but I still have plenty of the rest.
I'm open back up and would really like to sell them all. Please! 8D
They're super useful and I really want to see people use them. So stop by the store!
The USPS did away with surface to air shipping overseas. That means I, unfortunately, have to charge an additional $40+ to anyone outside of the US (except for Canada, I think). So be aware of that.
How is everyone doing, btw? ...school started and everything else!

Unofficial Q&A With Patrick WeekesOver the weekend at PAX East a fan managed to get some face time with Bioware writer Patrick Weekes in order to talk about ME3's characters, endings, and the little things some fans might have caught while going through ME3.Unofficial Q&A With Patrick Weekes3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here is the interviewer's original post.
"Okay, here is what I asked Patrick Weekes, and his answers as best as I can remember them. I've paraphrased but I'm doing my best to stick to what he said rather than introduce any interpretation.
THESE ARE NOT DIRECT QUOTES.
-Is there still a setting to explore after the ending? Is everything ruined?
The setting is definitely not ruined. We still have a big, lively galaxy.
-Will long-distance superluminal travel still be possible post-Ending? (will Tali or Wrex or Garrus see their homeworlds again? Will everyone starve?)
Galactic civilization will rebuild. The mass relays were not necessary for interstellar flight. Remember, what does it say in the Codex about the speed of ships? That's right, 12 lightyears per (day? hour?
OC X Canon pairings: Should we hate them?Hi everybody this is Mixedfan8643 (AKA Scott) and I'm here to give my opinion on a subject that pops up on occasion and frankly, I need to get off my chest. So let's get started.OC X Canon pairings: Should we hate them?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are people out there who hate it when people pair up an OC with a canon character. I have to say this...are all those people nuts?!
Think about this for a minute! EVERY CHARACTER YOU KNOW IN THE MEDIA WAS AN OC ONCE.
So by hating OCXCanon pairings, you pretty much say that no character should ever be in a couple. Just think about this for a minute:
Sally Acorn from SatAM, she was an OC when she first appeared so you guys should be hating the SonicXSally pairing because that's pretty much an OCXCanon pairing. Same goes to TailsXCosmo, KnucklesXRouge and any other pairing out there since everybody was an OC when they first appeared. They only became canon when they appeared more often in the series. Sonic himself was an OC when he first started so should he never be paired with any

We all know what Kepral's is, right? A terminal illness that affects the drell. When we meet Thane we find out within a couple of lines that he is dying. Naturally, we want to know more, so we go and ask him. Thane explains what Kepral's is. Sort of.
Then we skip to LotSB. We find out more about Thane's condition from the dossier, along with a hint at a possible treatment, and the fact that Thane refused it.
ME3 arrives, and this time we meet Thane in hospital. His illness has progressed, and this time almost all available dialogue is related to Kepral's. Does this help us to understand exactly what Kepral's is? No. Instead we are presented with new, conflicting, information. Add to this Thane's death, and we are left with a fragmented, incomplete, picture.
My aim is to take these pieces, and put them together in a way that is useful for fanfic writers. I'm also hoping to offer some ways of tr

How to Handle and Provide CritiquesDuring my short hiatus, I didnt leave dA completely. I just left my inbox and main page. Instead, I spent my spare time diving deeper into dA community, browsing through news articles, random groups, and various journals, until I accidentally stumbled upon this: You cant avoid criticism. http://news.deviantart.com/article/153114/How to Handle and Provide Critiques4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Criticism has been a big issue for many artists, including me. Some take it for granted, others throw a hissy fit. So, how can we provide and handle critiques without making a big fuss?
For Critic: HOW TO PROVIDE HELPFUL CRITIQUE
Dont criticize people who explicitly state they dont need critiques.
But they wont go far in art industry with that attitude!
Those people may do not even wish to be an artist. They just draw for fun. Theres no point of spending your precious time analyzing ones picture and writing a critique if that person doe

Before I begin, I would like to say that I have been a part of a wonderful writing group for the past four years. The writing club is where I first learned how to do a critique. I have also been taught some critique techniques during my college studies. In addition to the writing club and college classes, I have been doing my best to leave helpful feedback and critiques here on deviantART. This guide is based entirely off of my personal experience. As I think of more tips, I will be editing this guide.
Make sure to respond to any questions they have asked in the artist's descriptions.

The Leviathan and the Death of HopeWarning: contains spoilers concerning the Leviathan DLC, Mass Effect 3 and my notions about what good writing is. Duh.The Leviathan and the Death of Hope3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are moments when I wish I could just turn off my writer's sense at a whim and "just go with it". Ignore that a story in a game, or a movie, or a book, or a TV show is flawed in my opinion, just to enjoy the views, get an adrenaline rush from all the flashing colors and have fun. And truth be told - it usually works that way... Just not for the universes I tend to care about. If you got me invested in your franchise, I will expect you to deliver the goods. 'Tis how the cookie crumbles.
Which brings me to the Leviathan DLC. I've seen a lot of positive reviews and emotions towards it popping up all over the internet before I was even able to check it out myself. My hopes were high, and, initially, I loved it. It had a sense of exploration Mass Effect 3 was seriously lacking and the TGES Mining Base really reminded me of Noveria... It was spot on.
Watermarks (And How Not To Use Them)Doesnt it annoy you when you find a wonderful piece of art, that is all but ruined by a big, ugly and obnoxious watermark? I know that its something thats happened to me plenty of times.Watermarks (And How Not To Use Them)4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Unfortunately, on the internet, there are people who try to take credit for other peoples work, and watermarks are a relatively effective way of preventing this. But a watermark should not spoil an image; and a big, ugly obnoxious DeviantArt logo in the middle of an artwork does exactly this.
So, How does one make a watermark that doesnt spoil an artwork?

The hardest part of creating a watermark is thinking of what to make. For this tutorial, I will be making a very simple watermark wit
Want to learn some german?:3 - The basicsHello there!^w^Want to learn some german?:3 - The basics2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was bored...so I thought, since a lot of people seem to like Germany, I would like to share some germans words with you!:3
First, in germany exist three 'articles'. In the english language is only one, 'the'.
In germany the articles are 'Die' (feminine), 'Der' (masculine) and 'Das', neutral.
A lot of those articles don't make sense for the words there are used to..xD (For example it is: 'Die' Sonne (the Sun). But actually the Sun is a thing, and not feminine. ) This will be very confusing to learn. ; †;
So I will teach you some basics, and how you pronounce it. :3
Guten Morgen - Good morning [Gootan Morgan]
Guten Abend - Good evening [Gootan Ahband]
Wie geht es dir? - How are you? [Wee gayht es dihr?]
Mir geht es gut! - I'm fine! [Meer gayht es goht]
Mir geht es nicht so gut. - I don't feel very good. [Meer gayht es nisht/nicht sow goht.]
And there comes the CH (nicht.) I noticed this is very, very difficult to pronounce for people outside germany. But german people c
WTP'S GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE DEVIANTART CRITIQUESIt is important to understand the difference between the type of critique we give and receive here on deviantART, and the type of critique seen elsewhere.WTP'S GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE DEVIANTART CRITIQUES6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
At deviantART, we tend to give critique on the technical aspects of how an image or literary work was executed. While 'real-world' critique often references technical aspects of a subject, it is likely to be about things that are even more subjective, like sociopolitical impact of a piece, morality, successful execution of x combination of styles, etc. This kind of 'critique of intent' is going to be irrelevant to most people on deviantART. Many may not even recognize it as a legitimate critique!
In fact, deviantART's Fair Critique Policy discourages 'critiques of intent' by stating that "Critiques are not intended as personal criticisms of behavior, politics or opinion of an Artist and should concentrate only on discussion and an evaluation of the artwork itself."
Don't critique a piece if you hav

Howl’s Moving Castle 1
Howl’s Moving Castle is best known as the 2004 animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
While it is as beautifully animated as all of Studio Ghibli's other films this was one of the few times Miyazaki based a film on an existing work. The film is an adaptation of British author Diana Wynne Jones’ 1986 young-adult novel by the same name and the first book in the Ho

Sometimes you come across a deviation that deserves special attention. It catches your eye in such a way that you're compelled to craft a response that goes above and beyond a normal comment. Or perhaps a fellow deviant is having a tough time with a particular aspect of their work, and you know just what they need to take their art to the next level. As a good Internet citizen and art enthusiast, you want to help them out, but a normal comment doesn't quite suit your purpose.
For these situations and more, we've given everyone the ability to write a Critique.
What is Critique?
DeviantART's Critique system is designed to help artists get in-depth, critical feedback and commentary on their work. Valued feedback through Critique promotes creative growth as an artist and draws special attention to work. Critiques are also a way for committed art enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and fans to publish real criticism,

"You two are such a cute couple!" Lana squeals from her seat. Okay, your day just got worse. You don't understand why you're so pissed. Link and Zelda were the best match in Hyrule. The Hero of Time and the re-incarnation of the goddess, Hylia, were so perfect. Even the fan-base thinks so.

Photography learning resources on InternetOne (and sometimes overlooked part) of developing yourself as a photographer is to study photography. "You can't learn to photograph by reading" is a half-truth, or at least understood wrongly quite often. While you need to photograph to learn to photograph, studying at least the basics is usually the best thing to do, especially at the beginning. This gives you strong foundation to build your skills. While books are a good source, Internet contains a wealth of knowledge for free.Photography learning resources on Internet7 years ago in Art Features More Like This

I've gathered here some websites that I've been using myself that I find beneficial or have found while trying to help other people and finding good links for them (I've been gathering these slowly during last year while learning myself). There are some basic guides and something a bit more advanced. Hope you can find something beneficial from h
Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)Art is a process.Get Better At Drawing (Without Drawing Anything)4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Like that of the scientific method and philosophical alchemy, art can be refined and improved through process. From observation, to experiment, to reflection and conclusion, art is improved by the steps we make towards change, not solidification and stagnation. Much of the advice out there for drawing is simply practice or avoid distractions. This advice is good, but there is more to creation than just throwing yourself mindlessly into a task and avoiding bad habits along the way. Good habits and knowledge will help to excel your learning process faster, and from that, improve faster and more effectively.
Look at it
As an artist, observation is key. The skill we develop is not just seeing, but interpreting what we see, remembering what we have seen and recording it in the form of visual art. This is a skill that, aside from blindness or vision degradation, you will be able to improve during your entire life. The way of seeing from an art
