Technical and Historical Notes

The third mobile suit developed under the Earth Federation's top-secret "Project V," the RX-78 Gundam series saw final assembly and rollout at the Side 7 colony under the supervision of engineer Lieutenant Tem Ray. Three prototypes were constructed, although only one unit, the RX-78-2, survived a Zeon attack on Side 7 when Project V was discovered by Zeon Lieutenant Commander Char Aznable. The RX-78-2, having been commandeered by Ray's young son Amuro, fended off the attack and was transferred to the assault carrier White Base. Amuro Ray would continue to serve as the Gundam's pilot for the remainder of the One Year War, being White Base's mobile front line of defense.

The Gundam was designed as a fast, close-combat mobile suit and was the first to feature several new technologies, including the energy cap-based beam rifle (making the Gundam the first mobile suit to pack the firepower of a battleship) and beam saber. Although designed with "high performance" in mind, the Gundam was simply outmatched by its own pilot: Amuro's emerging Newtype abilities would increasingly allow him to push the Gundam beyond its design limits. This had the often-annoying result of the Gundam's motors and joints getting burned-out or overloaded simply because it couldn't keep up with Amuro's reflexes. A later field upgrade which involved coating the joints with an electromagnetic solution, thus reducing the motors' and joints' friction, increased the Gundam's performance to a point where it could keep up with Amuro's reaction time. Another factor that contributed to the Gundam's success was its "learning computer" system, which allowed the mobile suit to "learn" from - and adapt to - the pilot's input. The data from the learning computer system would later be incorporated into the Federation's first mass-production model mobile suit, the RGM-79 GM.

The Gundam's service record - and that of Amuro Ray - would continually draw the attention of the Zeon forces - and particularly Char Aznable - until the end of the war... thus providing the distraction the Federation military needed to complete construction of its GM units at its Jaburo base on Earth. The Gundam was finally destroyed at the Battle of A Bao A Qu in a fight against Char Aznable, piloting the MSN-02 Zeong mobile suit, although Amuro survived. As fate would have it, of course, the Gundam itself would become the most famous mobile suit of the One Year War - even more famous than its young pilot, Amuro Ray, whose own abilities were the keys to the Gundam's performance, perhaps more so than the abilities of the Gundam itself.

RX-78-2 is now colored and equipped with a Beam Rifle & Shield, i know the shield is rather small, but i like it that way. Full size is now only 25% of the usual size, cause i believe downloading a big image is rather unconventional. The informations about RX-78-2 are taken from Mahq.Net

Gundam RX-78-2 is originally created by Kunio Okawara

Hi all! sorry for my long absence here on DA.

I bought "Front Mission Evolved" last week and it is awesome but the campaign so short. I like the mech "Wanzer" designs and the possibility to create your own compilation.

Well, this was my inspiration for this fanart. :)

The X-KLV1 Pelleas, a Knightmare Frame using a similar frame to the Constantine Mk. III, but is otherwise a completely different and stand-alone unit. Not part of any particular generation of KMFs, it's referred to as a "Round Generation" as if to denote the fact it's a machine rolled out and intended for the Knights of the Round. The first of around twelve X-KLV units.

Finally finished. Even though this only took a few months to make, the first attempt at this that eventually became the Constantine Mk. III took three years! Damn I'm a lazy bastard. Comments and questions always welcome.

This is a Franken designed by me and thus not an original, from-scratch creation, though it includes some original tweaks and parts in the design. Arts used belong to their original creators and not me.

New set of KMF's! The Equitess F-Type and M-Type. Obviously standing for "Female Type" and "Male Type".

The M-Type Equitess is a mass production variant, forgoing all the F-Types stealth systems in favor of an integrated float system package in the thighs and more hardpoints for standard weapons. It's primarily rolled out to replace an aging line of Norn Mk. III's (A unit which is pretty much a 9th Generation Norn Mk. II, yet to be designed).

The F-Type Equitess is a single unit produced alongside to the M-Type, using the original blue print design for the Equitess model. Rather than an integrated float system, it sports a Justine-inspired "Black Wings" float system on its back (Sort of like a combination between a standard float system and the energy wing system), and the legs have been overhauled with powerful shock absorbers and new hydraulic systems to allow it to run as silently as possible across the ground.

It has a "candy-coating" layer of special nanomachines over its body that refract light when responding to a specific frequency, allowing it to become invisible to the naked eye. It also supports a heat collection and dispensing system on its back hardpoint that collects heat produced by the unit and storing it in a special container, allowing it to become invisible on infra-red sensors (Lasting for up to an hour, until it has to release that heat and appear as a big red blob on infra-red sensors).

It doesn't use Gefjun Disturbers for stealth like the Gawain, as in the storyline its from, they've been rendered useless due to the use of new anti-gefjun technology. Anyways, aside from slight aesthetic and internal changes between the two units, they share a lot of the same parts, though the F-Type sports a considerably higher performance grade than the M-Type despite the additional weight. The F-Type is piloted by an ex-stealth op officer from Britannia, who was thrown into an insane asylum for yet to be explained reasons, and is rather psychotic on the battlefield; even more so now that she can turn invisible and gorge herself on death to her hearts content.

The Norn is Aesir's first mass production Knightmare Frame, based loosely on a Sutherland Frame while incorporating newer Britannian-stolen and Aesir-made technology improvements. In this sense, it is much like the Lancelot Club in terms of performance. It draws some design aesthetics and cockpit features from India's early Gekka model on top of Britannian aesthetics, rather than drawing influence from its mother unit, the Einherjar.

There are two types of Norns; the original produced for Aesir, and a variant used sparingly by the Order of the Black Knights, which was deployed for their use in operations during the assault on Tokyo, and operated some time afterward up to Zero's return. The original Norn features some internal systems- Geass related, that the Black Knight version does not have. It also has jump thrusters similar to that of the Einherjar, allowing it the ability to launch itself to great heights without the aid of slash harkens.

The second Norn, known as the Mk. II, lacks these features, but includes overall performance improvement to make up for the gap; they are essentially equal in performance, though the original's capabilities can be drastically enhanced depending on the pilot. While the Mk. II was eventually phased out of use by the Akatsuki, Aesir still uses both lines of the model as their primary mercenary forces, though they are slowly being replaced with newer 9th generation models.

A Knightmare Frame produced by the Mercenary Organization Aesir, using stolen blueprints and technology from Britannia along with aid from Indian engineers. The Prototype Einherjar was the first to be rolled out, and featured a complex control cockpit and sluggish features; it wasn't so much a wildhorse as much as it was difficult to operate with its choice of controls. All in all, its performance was on par to that of the Sutherland, though at that time it could only operate at or near 30% functionality with its various test pilots.

As further testing simplified control features, more and more of its power and functionality came out as a result of its "Sakuradite Turbine Amplifier", which enhanced and increased the functionality of sakuradite in the frame. Unfortunately the Prototype Einherjar would be destroyed at the hands of the Bedivere, a more advanced and powerful unit, nearly killing the pilot; by the time of this battle, the Prototype was showcasing nearly 80% of its power, surpassing the Lancelot Air Cavalry in power and speed.

Its subsequent upgrade, the next of the line Einherjar, featured salvaged parts from the original; mainly the head and Turbine Amplifier. It also featured all around improvements in all areas, from control to maneuverability, speed and attack power. It would be even further upgraded into the Einherjar Luceid, which boasted extreme power on par with that of 9th generation frames, despite its lack of a energy wing system. The Einherjar would continue to operate throughout the latter parts of the war and well after the war ended, and much of its self-evolving enhancements were eventually implemented in other designs, like the Justine and Equitess.

Figured I'd start grouping similar machines together, as it'd reduce the number of things I have to put up while maintaining image quality. The Einherjar Line are all technically one Knightmare Frame anyways; parts of the destroyed Prototype went into the Einherjar, and the Einherjar Luceid is a self-evolved form of the original, which adapted and upgraded its own parts at the behest of the nanomachines composing its frame.

Much better :)

The MS-06F Zaku II is a refined version of the MS-06C Zaku II, with minor changes mostly being in engine and vernier improvements. Armament was pretty much the same, as were controls and handling. The F-type was the most iconic (and prolific) version of the Zakus produced by the Principality of Zeon in the One Year War, and many would exist even after Zeon's surrender in UC 0080.

Shown here is my own version, Ver PT. In rebellion against Okawara convention, my design is an uglier 'grunt' suit presented in my style. Partially as a response to :icongenocidalpenguin:'s own Zaku: [link] here. My design I feel is both closer to the original design while still standing independent of the Okawara version.

I suppose this is my "Zeonography #0001". Maybe I'll assemble an even more complete profile (with line drawings and specs) in the coming days. Were this a perfect world, I'd also consider looking to build a physical model of this Zaku for myself to stand on my desktop. Sadly, I lack the know-how, skills, and materials to get into Resin modeling to construct this suit.
