This Art Is ShitIf I knew then what I knew now, maybe I might have appreciated my work a little more.
I always used to compare myself to the other artists that I would see, artists much older than me, with the training and the experience I didn't have. It didn't seem to matter to me where they came from, just that they where good and I was not. If I had understood at the time that someday, with perseverance, study and practice that I too might be ask good as them, maybe I might have worked a little harder, studied a little more and not been so down on myself.
Now I look back on a lot of the artists who were my idols, megabytes worth of their art saved to my ancient drive in the basement for reference and inspiration. I realize, they really weren't that good. Some of them were actually quite bad. At any given time, if your art sucks to you or even thousands of other people, it is amazing to someone and you are inspiring someone else by sharing it with them.

i feel it in my teeth.
i feel it in my bones, their very marrows
aching like something was once there
but is missing, like the ghost of it has gone missing,
like their maws are hanging from their teeth
in some sad sickness.
i want to throw my head back and scream.
i want to feel the tears stream upwards
instead of down, to take to the sky
and fall back to you as rain.
i can't stop feeling.
you are prismatic,
you are line and shadow,
you are the earth and moon and stars and you.
i want rivers to flood my body,
i want to drown in water too hot to feel,
i want to sleep in the snow
and pretend it's you next to me
as i turn blue.

reminds me of you
reminds me of you.
i can't look at the trees
without imagining your birch forest,
i can't brush things off as a consequence of life
without hearing your voice rise, impassioned by upset.

i'm tired of thinking of you
when you're not thinking of me.

you're only as beautiful as you think you are.
the world does not spin on its axis
every time your weight shifts,
it is not like the immense power of gravity.
there are almost seven billion
humans, encased in bodies
like birds of bears,
caves and breath,
and it means nothing.
i have news for you --
you don't have a soul,
you are a soul --
you have a body.
you are only as beautiful
as you think you are.
your soul is where the beauty lies --
your body is just its vessel.

HOW TO SUCCEED AT BEING A NORMAL TEENAGER:
(In 15 easy steps!)
1. The first step in becoming a normal, bland, and spineless individual is very simple. Never think. About anything. Ever. If you have a thought, let it go. Let someone else think for you. Thinking is hard. Let someone else do it. Save your little conformist brain cells for something less difficult.
2. Now let's talk about music. You like unique music? Not anymore! You get to listen to the same generic, repetitive sound that everyone else does. You know, that one beat over and over with the words "Yeah", "baby" and "ooh" being repeated. Lucky you!
3. To be normal, you've gotta dress normal. If you're a girl, that means you wear leggings as pants and cut up your t-shirts so they just barely cover your chest. Uggs are a must, for any time of the year, including midsummer. If you're a guy, you wear the hem of your pants on the back of your knees. Overly violent band t-shirts for bands that you only know one song for is highly

"This is a frigging stupid class," he'd say to me. "It's stupider than…your mom."
And his voice would trail off and be lost in a sea of pages flipping and pencils scratching, because nobody cared about the kid spewing crap in the corner.
It was to his advantage that the seating chart had placed him in the back of the room. He liked to lay back, balance his chair precariously against the wall, then throw his feet up on the table. It was his thinking time, he explained, because of the two classes he was taking that semester, AP English was the one he could afford to slack off in. I never really understood the logic in this, but I gave a neutral nod. It was easier that way.
One day, however, I asked him what exactly ran through his mind during his "thinking time".
"I wonder about what's going to happen to me after I die," he replied. "Is there a heaven? Is there a hell? I doubt it, but somehow, being put in the ground in a box and having that be the end of

Someday I am going to live in a big pretty house just like the one I grew up in
When I graduate I am going to go to a good college and learn to do my dream job
After college I am going to marry my prince charming
And we will live happily ever after
I will have beautiful children
And I will love them with all of my heart
And when they grow up I will become a grandmother
When the time comes I will die peacefully in my sleep with my loyal husband at my side
I have a perfect life.

My tears glisten in the cold moonlight
My smile, like me, is broken and fake
I am all alone

ALWAYS SIGN YOUR WORK and other stuffHi folks. I was gonna make this journal sooner or later, but there's not a more appropriate time than NOW, when my 'Sorry we're closed' http://ry-spirit.deviantart.com/art/Sorry-we-re-CLOSED-162673296 artwork got posted on 9gag right http://m.9gag.com/gag/6281912 ! Not only did the person not credit the artist or link it to my page or whatever, they even changed the title of this artwork to 'S**t Happens'. Come on man... WHAT ALSO sucks is that back then I had a different logo, its like that box with a thunder symbol on it, it doesn't have my username on it either... so people could just look at that picture and have no idea who drew it. I mean this artwork is OLD.. like more than 2 years old.. so I was still new to how the internet works when it comes to sharing. So now this 9gag post gets like 16k of likes and over 500k of views and I don't get a single credit. *Flips a table*. writing and other ironiesyou used to not be able to write on paper, only on things that don't exist. you used to feel your mind, deluging with thoughts and strings of pretty words and pretty worlds, urging your hands to write down the magic within, but the second you touched a pen, the blank paper was all the ideas you had. you used to bask in the loveliness of writing, feeling the catharsis, feeling beautiful for a moment of time.writing and other ironies4 years ago in Emotional More Like This
you don't anymore.
today you've gone to write poetry seven times, and have come up blank. the instant you hold a pen, there is flooding words, gushing words, pain and blood and beauty and more blood. that is what your paper has become since you pierced it so sharply. you don't even know you had things to say until you started moving that pen across the page. and now you can't stop. and now you can't stop. and now you can't stop feeling, absolutely feeling, drowning in feeling, bleeding out feeling, bastardizing feeling. there is no silence anymore.

That blunt comment will be my thesis statement for this 'essay'.
I have a deep conceited love/hate relationship with this site. I love the easy to use interface and the many different members (make your own joke about artistic nudes) but I hate the attitude that a lot of younger deviants have. For some strange reason, these kids (and some adults) seem to hate being told that their art is less than perfect and will throw a tantrum if you even imply that their art is unoriginal/not very good. I like to call this attitude "deviantART ego". People with this mentality reject critique in all its forms and will block you for being a "troll". This attitude probably stems from the lack of actual critique on this site. Some submissions almost always receive positive comments and favs from everyone. These posts normally contain:
a) "Artistic Nudes"
b) A character or OC from some popular anime/book/video game/ect.
c) Anything Twi

There are girls that hide their beauty, and there are girls that flaunt it. She is neither.
She wears ripped-up Converse and old clothes. She smudges her mascara and still captures boys' hearts with her playful smile.

A slender girl with flickering eyes. That's how I imagine her. She pretends to be afraid, but she's fierce like a tiger.
When she's with me, I'm not scared of anything.
I'm wise because I have been foolish.
She's full of wishes, full of promises and careless goodbyes.

Looking for new ways to improve?
Just to IMPROVE?
There's one thing that people always repeat(I'm not trying to offend anybody) is that when they watch another artist who's art is very good, they either think, "I won't be able to be that good" and feel like they will never improve.
Sad thing, but true.
Only a few people think about improving to get to the same level as their favorite artist.
BUT! There's always room for improvement! ;D
Well, then. I'm not so sure if this is helpful or not and if you will learn something new or not, but, continue on, please. c:
Ever heard of 'practice makes perfect'? I know some people out there practice until they hands feel dead(not literally) but don't give up! Like I said, there's always room for improvement! c: And it doesn't matter if you waste paper. Paper can always be recycled. If you think you're wasting paper, try finding old envelopes and doodle on them!
Don't give up! EVER! Be strong and

At times I've noticed you struggle with your works, and I've seen how you feel you don't get the recognition, appreciation and popularity you are entitled to. You have not said it out loud, but I know these kinds of thoughts often strike to young artists like you and me.
You might have been feeling that you are a talentless twat, trying to do something artistic and you might have also thought that no one really cares about you or your works.
I do care.
I've seen how easy it is to create things people shamelessly now call art. They know how to take a screencapture of their favourite cartoon and then attach it to the Motivational Poster Generator. If not that, they know how to paste the image on Paint and colour it over and then call it art. If someone does not know how to do that or how to create their own artworks, they might be talented enough to type in a search word to Google's Image Search bar and find everything they'd love to create. Then they downl

"And that is how the Diminum works, folks," the speaker eagerly spoke.
Rylie nodded at the half-bald lecturer and took down notes on her flat screen. The speaker said a few more words about the new medical tool before ending his speech. An applause followed suit, but Rylie concentrated on getting as much as what she understood into her notes. She was on a two-day seminar for new technologies in health and medicine, and the schedule was packed. Since her arrival late last night, she had attended countless seminars all day long. It was 9p.m., and the last lecture had just ended. Despite of that, Rylie was still putting as much input as she can into her device. She ignored the audience's chatter growing louder as they hassled down the auditorium.
"What could you possibly be writing about now?" Someone said above her shoulder. Rylie turned around to see a stout figure with short brown curls bending over her.
"Jace!" Rylie cried out with a big smile. She excitedly stood up to give hi

Take your art to higher lever in 4 simple steps!
For people who are serious about drawing and want to make career in art! And for me to stop getting questions on how to practice, or how do you get better
Are you stuck and don't know how to carry on making great art?
You just want to draw better?
If an answer to any of these questions is 'yes' then you might find this interesting...
Since the only thing I ever acknowledged myself good at is getting better I decided to share a couple of tricks.
I truly believe it works in every single case.
It's true. You can get out now or shut up and listen and get better.
(oh and do I need to mention that you need to draw a lot to get better?
I didn't draw a lot and still got better because I followed the steps listed below. But yeah, may not work without drawing a lot...)
Step 1. Honesty.
Be aware of your own limitations. They're usually bigger than you really think, despite what people say. I won't be talking about fals

FINDING HAPPINESS ON DEVIANTART
If you want to get something out of it, put something into it. Visibility on deviantART is mostly a numbers game; there are so many users that unless you're interacting with others, even the highest-quality work may go nearly unseen. This advice sounds like a truism, but people seem to have difficulty understanding that no, their work is not some kind of miracle that breaks all the rules. Don't expect the community to fawn all over you for existing. You have to make them see you.
Don't expect the community to fawn over you, period. These people are usually your peers, but even if you don't think they are - they are not your buttmonkeys. Don't treat people that way.
The people who let you treat them terribly are not the ones you want. Some people will allow, and even encourage you to treat them like slaves. The
