"It's not like I asked for this!" Sparkie clenched her fists and looked at the man in front of her. "I'm a teenage girl, and not an especially heroic one! I mean, let's face it: I'll never be anything more than 'cute', I'm never going to make an A plus in my advanced classes without divine intervention, and I'm definitely not going to be able to save the world." She put her hands on her hips.
The man replied, "Well, I didn't ask for the powers when I got them."
She sighed, exasperated, "But why me?"
"I can't really explain at the moment. But let's just say it's not what you think, not a 'wrong place, wrong time.' There's a reason " The tanned man smiled. " But I'm barely able to speak with you in your dreams, and you complaining is ticking my timer down. I just need to pass on some information to you. Find the others. Without all five of the Guardians together, you can't access your tr
Guardians +Chapter 4+Sparkie staggered a bit as the painful sensations of a few days prior set back in. She clenched her fists and felt an odd tingle run down her arms.Guardians +Chapter 4+5 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"Ow, Sparkie, did you rub against a shaggy carpet or something?" Ella muttered under her breath as she scooted away, just a little. "You just shocked me!"
The voice laughed, "I see you can already access your powers. However, you lack the ability to control them. I can help with that."
The center of the temple was glowing vibrantly. And very slowly, the light began to dissipate, revealing one paw, then another. A woman that was well, the only word Sparkie could think to describe her as was 'dragon' creature from the waist down walked from the dais that raised the mysterious statues.
She was extraordinarily beautiful, once you got past her golden eyes and terrifying dragon body. Her hair was white-blond, her skin was alabaster pale. Her smile was so gentle and calming that Sparkie felt her guard slipping down. Wisd
Guardians +Chapter 5+"That was incorrect, Sparkie. Try again." Chira's massive claws rapped the ground. "If you cannot access your powers fluidly you will never be able to command anything more than short bursts of excruciating power. Focus on where you want to channel the energy. Force the flow of the power where you want it. You'll have to start out doing small motions to get your body to react correctly, but with enough practice you'll be able to do it without even thinking." Chira demonstrated what she meant as she flicked her tail and created a ball of fire and then dissipated it without even moving.Guardians +Chapter 5+5 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Sparkie sighed gustily. Her hair was a frizzy mess. She was only here because she called her mom and told her she was going to stay at Ella's for the night and therefore had an excuse not to be home. But that was beside the point. Even if it was only the first day of training and they had fought with an evil force earlier, Chira was showing no mercy. It was always 'try again try again try again
Guardians +Chapter 2+ It had been a time of darkness in the world. An evil so powerful that not even the elemental spirits of earth--the Ancient Ones--could stop it roamed from land to land, spreading death to the deepest corners of the worldGuardians +Chapter 2+5 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The Ancient Ones needed something that would be brave when all others fled, something that would hold hope dear to them even when all was lost. They needed mortals. Yet mere humans wouldn't do the job--their chosen heroes needed the elemental strength of the Ancient Ones.
Five humans were chosen and gifted with elemental strength. They weren't what anyone would call heroes. They lacked the stature, the composure. They fought and disagreed and split apart several times. They cursed their fate and they almost gave in to the darkness.
But when it came down to it all, they were loyal, compassionate, brave, and all too willing to risk themselves for the w
