Just something I stumbled upon today"Admit it. You aren't like them. You're not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the "normal people" as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club passwords like "Have a nice day" and "Weather's awful today, eh?", you yearn inside to say forbidden things like "Tell me something that makes you cry" or "What do you think deja vu is for?". Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator (and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work) are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. My day with a pack of wolfdogs (photos)A month ago, I had the privilege of walking with a pack of eight wolfdogs for about two hours. It was a wonderful and interesting experience! These animals are beautiful both in looks and character. So much energy and intelligence. Always aware of their environment and yet very much in control of themselves. My day with a pack of wolfdogs (photos)6 months ago in Personal More Like This
We also walked with three small/tiny dog breeds and at first I was worried they'd get hurt when the wolfdogs were having their playfights out in the open (safe) country areas. But the wolfdogs never harmed the little dogs. All the wolfdogs ever did was sniff at them and then leave them alone.
The playfights between the wolfdogs would usually take split seconds, and they'd look very violent, but the wolfdogs never actually bit. They merely grabbed the other wolfdogs with their teeth. Not a single injury was caused.
Not saying wolfdogs are easy to keep as pets. In only my two hours of experience I came to agree with what their responsible owners had to say; "A wolf

Many of you have been asking for it, and now after quite a long time and hundreds of hours of effort, Twokinds Volume 2 is nearly complete! However, finishing the book is one thing. Getting a professional printing company to print it is quite another. Which is why I need you guys' help. And for that, I have started a Twokinds Kickstarter Campaign! In order to print the minimum number of books required by the printers, I will need more funds than I can build on my own. But with the support of people like you, this book can become a reality! But I wouldn't expect your financial support for nothing. In exchange for backing this book printing endeavor, I have lined up a huge number of ever-increasing rewards, which coincide with your ever-increasing generosity! Some of these rewards includ

One of those 'Existential' DaysI very rarely just...feel like writing a journal on DA. My journals are all about commissions, or art theft, or advertising, pretty much. I keep most of my life to myself, because my 3,000+ watchers have better things to read about or do than listen to me ramble. But I've had a bad day that has petered out into one of those 'deep thought' sorts of days and I just feel like sharing bits of my life. To start with, I've lost a golden job opportunity. In late June, I applied at my favorite candle store, and they interviewed me. They liked me enough to call me back for a second interview, which hasn't happened to me since I got my first/only job a couple years ago. I thought I had it in the bag, then...after the second interview, they said they'd call me back in a week. Well, they didn't, so I called them in a week instead. They put me off another week. This happened three times, three or four weeks. Most people would have stopped by then, but each time I called, the man

Internet went on strike in January 2012, the reason were 2 law proposals in USA, S.O.P.A. and P.I.P.A. (stop online piracy act, SOPA is a House bill, while PIPA is in the Senate , here´s what the BBC says about it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16596577 ), you already know about this , but to sum them , they mean that USA´s goverment would be able to not only censor but also delete entire sites that hold anything copyrighted and not only the infrigted piece, that and force browsers to remove links and so on, not only in USA, but violating sovereignty of other countries despite all the other countries.
That would have meant no fanart, no fanfiction, no background music from the movie/series/games/animes, etc on fanmade videos or animations, no "inspired" art... No critics or comments about a piece of art you can´t even see without violating copyrights.

Reading up David Hume's texts on "Problems of Induction" inspired me to compile an essential list pertaining to systematic workings of (canon) Sherlock Holmes in my personal journal, and :iconwindmaedchen: encouraged me to share it here; so here we are.
Let's face it: I'm not a criminal investigator. Far from it! However, especially because I'm more of an artist, writer, literature lover and conceptionist, the philosophy of logic appeals to me as much as the philosophy of... well, everything! I've compiled the following list of self-applied codes of Sherlock Holmes -- a character imagined by the ingenious writer, physician and logician, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle -- from the canon, of certain axioms and theories to consider in contemplation and practice. Every year is like a chapter of our lives.
The object of a new year is not a celebration of a new year, nor having a new number displaying in our callendar but it is where we should have a new soul.
To sit down and think over how to improve up our lives.
Also is not a day to cry out loudly how our past year was unsuccessful and impatiently wait when it will be over, start a new, but to learn who we are and how we can move forward.
I'm not here to wish a good New Year Eve since it's not the only day which will decide how our new year will be like… however what I truly wish you guys lots of joy for every day for this year, as well for next year- regardless what is the day or what's happening. Every day is a miracle and a proof of our existence.
Smile to yourself while looking at your image reflected by mirror and don't be shy to say "I love you" to yourself. And lots of love to all livings forms, animals and nature and less interest to mater

I enjoy reading the daily news and having a cup of coffee every morning. I scan the headlines on my laptop and eat up all the latest scientific discoveries, local weather, and international news. I enjoyed reading about the asteroid that came close to hitting Earth because it reminds me of how fragile and insignificant we are here on our little blue marble. Our place in the Universe is pretty much meaningless in terms of time and space, yet we think we are not only important but THE singularly important species. A silly thought in my book.
Also in the news I read this: http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/31/southern-baptists-to-urge-churches-and-members-to-cut-boy-scout-ties/?hpt=hp_t2 It seems a group of humans 16 million strong can't associate with another group of humans because of who they choose to love. It mak
On pricing your artwork and creating a career...I am going to be speaking at an "Entrepreneurship In The Arts" program later today, and I've been organizing my thoughts. One subject that is certain to come up; "how do you arrive at a fair price for your original artwork?" I have some definite ideas regarding that question. On pricing your artwork and creating a career...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I was always told that the accepted model for artists and artisans, when it comes to pricing, was double your costs for materials, figure out an hourly price (double that for your retail price if you plan to have wholesale/retail differentials), add it up and there's your item price. I think this model is pure bullshit.
I was also told "charge what the market will bear!" Again, vague bullshit. What if you live in a depressed area? What if you live in a third world country? What if you're at some artist's ally at a little convention and there is a kid sitting next to you selling her character sketches for $5 each?
Here is what I think. There are so many variables when it comes to pricing original art. Yo
Pixel Art Commission Info What I do:Pixel Art Commission Info5 years ago in Personal More Like This
I like doing pixel arts from 50x50 pixel size up to 150 x150 pixel size. I am best working on organic characters (humans, animals, plants). I don't like using a base for creating a character, thus you can rest assure your character face/pose will be unique. Most of my works are for clients' personal icons. I don't do character sprite sheet jobs for games because it'll be very expensive and time consuming, unless you have already had the basic sprite sheets for all movements you need and I will only edit their appearances to be several different characters. I also don't do isometric pixel art.
Price list is as follow:

FAQI should have done this a long time ago:FAQ2 years ago in Personal More Like This
What program do you use?
Adobe Photoshop CS5
Corel Painter 11
What kind of tablet do you use?
Wacom Intuos 4
Where did you learn to draw?
I was using cheat codes from the very start - both my parents are artists + my mum was organizing weekend drawing courses in our very house. You can pretty much say I spent my whole childhood in an art school.
When I was in high school I was attending course preparing for exams into the faculty of architecture. This is the course: www.labirynt.pl
During the first and second year at the university we had some drawing/painting/sculpting lessons but they kinda sucked. Besides they were worth only 1/10th of the ECTS points you could get from pretty much any other subject so nobody gave a shit.
Will you make any tutorials?
Probably not. I don't feel competent enough.
