My goal is to make atleast one comic a day, and I'm also going by the 100-themes-challenge, but I'm making 100 different themed comics!
I'm having my friends pick from them each day. (The ones that they pick will be the ones they're featured in.)
I'm also going by all 5 100-theme-challenge variations so, technically there's 500 themes to choose from or so...If I get really bored I'm gunna do all 500 of them...I just gotta print out the other variations...I only have the first one...
Insomnia Tangents #1Everytime I can't sleep it's usually because I'm aching to express some thought one way or another, so what better spot to do it than here, seeing as this Deviantart account is pretty much a by-product of the titular condition. If these thoughts seem contradictory, unfounded or just plain stupid...well, consider where they came from. So let's get on with it. Here's what I'm thinking about tonight:Insomnia Tangents #13 years ago in Personal More Like This
~I've only really had to deal with my greatest fears twice. Once was a mutual tragedy, the second was a selfish plea for reassuring attention.
~Let me preface this with a personal trait of mine. I am a lucid dreamer. Most of my dreams either start out lucid or become lucid. If I do have a non-lucid dream it is rarely unaccompanied by a second lucid one. Last night I had a dream which included something that I don't really recall ever happening before. I felt physical pain. Now I've died in dreams many times, to the point w

8 Lies Told by Climate Change Deniers Debunked by Real Climate Scientists
With the news that the west Antarctic ice sheet is not only melting, but that melting is unstoppable, the climate change deniers are out in full force on the forums and the comment threads, wheeling out tired lie after tired lie, and are bellowing louder and slowing progress even more in the halls of legislation. While these deniers have a number of fall back lies, there seems to be eight perennial lies that keep cropping up.
The earth stopped warming in the late 1990′s, global cooling, it’s the sun’s fault, and 5 other ridiculous lies about climate change… debunked!
A piece published on Moyers & Company recently took a look at eight of the more complex and scientific-sounding of a

5 Career Killers“Whatever happened to that guy? The guy that drew that thing?5 Career Killers6 months ago in Personal More Like This
Comic careers are like any other career in entertainment: if you don't stay relevant and adapt to a trend, you'll eventually peak and then bottom out. But there are more things that can help end a career. Here's a list of 5 that I've been thinking about lately.
1. SOCIAL MEDIA TAKE-DOWN
The creator does something that somehow goes viral, turning his (or her) readers against him. Bad behavior at a convention, sexual harassment online, or a semi-racist Tweet made worse by bumbling attempts to correct it. Or maybe the creator gets blamed for something innocent: innocent comments taken out of context, or involvement in a controversial project that he had no say over. Whatever the case, “social media take-downs” can harm careers, leaving a permanent black mark on your career.
I imagine this one is the most common: no matter how hard you work—and no matter how much a
Almost DDs: Volume 6I suggest DDs.Almost DDs: Volume 64 years ago in Art Features More Like This
It's a tricky business. You have to find a piece you're passionate about. You have to make a case that's convincing, but not begging or posh-sounding. I have had a few bursts of luck- 4 accepted suggestions, but the good bulk of my suggestions don't make it.
I realize that the GM have to make some tough choices. But I want to give my suggestions another chance, in case it was something on my end that was why they declined them.
And I still felt they deserved a feature.
As a note, a few pieces this time are not eligible for DDs because the artist received a DD on a different piece after I suggested it.They'll have *s. Some of these pieces are also pending suggestions, but if a GM sees multiple suggestions of the same piece, I think it ups the chances!
So, without further ado, the Almost DDs, Volume 6!Please show these artists some love, and if you really love a piece, suggest it as a DD!

At young-photo-club we've recently introduced a new project called Critique 4 Critique. The project consists of its participants giving each other constructive criticism, and being rewarded in the end of each month by a feature. Those who gave the most, and the best critiques to their fellow member participants are the ones who will receive the most attention in each feature, as we really want to encourage participants to give their best advice and opinion to each other. This bill (which uses Child Pornography as it's cover) would effectively track every time you look at your bank statement or use a credit card online, and force IP service providers to record your credit card and billing statement info, along with your recent internet search histories, and store them in a "secure" place for 18 months. Anything which looked "suspicious" would immediately be flagged to allow the government to step in.
Since billing statements and online transactions are so common these days, this bill would, In effect, be monitoring everything everyone

OBJECTIVE: SELL THIS DAMN BOOK, DANNY.
At first, Gabriel was nothing more than a character named ONE. He had no backstory, no face, nothing. I just wanted to create a character that was a badass, yet with a sense of humor.
I was inspired by such characters as Boba Fett, Wolverine, Deadpool and Clint Eastwood from The Man With No Name trilogy. I needed to create something that fit that build, however, I'll admit, it wasn't intended at first.
I uploaded him on December 8th, 2008, (which, you can find here: http://danluvisiart.deviantart.com/art/GABRIEL-107612010?q=gallery%3Adanluvisiart%2F7848546&qo=50) and he became one of the most popular characters of the series, if not, the most. Soon I started finding him on forums, websites, fashion blogs (what?), and more.
But what hit me so hard was that the majority of the comments rela

Inspiration: Art websitesMany people asked me about which sites I use (or used) to learn and keep myself updated about art. So I decided to make a list with art websites that offer tutorials, advice, or other content that inspired me. Of course there are many other individual artists that inspire me greatly, but I've tried to keep this list to the ones that provide the community of advice and tutorials (otherwise I could go on forever).Inspiration: Art websites7 months ago in Art Features More Like This

PE Prose Basics: Pacing ( and Show vs. Tell)Hello, everyone! As you all know, this week over at projecteducate is Prose Basics. We're here to help all you prose writers (whether flash fiction, short stories, or novels) get better at your craft with some basic tips for growth. Today, I'm going to be talking about something you've probably heard about again and again: pacing.PE Prose Basics: Pacing ( and Show vs. Tell)1 year ago in Literature Features More Like This
What is Pacing?
No, it's not what you do when you're stuck on a scene and need to get up and stretch those leg muscles to get your writing juices flowing. It's actually a very important ability that writers have to control the speed their story is read. You as the author get to manipulate the reader in a way and make the speed of the story match the scene. What better way to drop the reader right into the moment? But, pacing also holds the ability to make or break your story and keep or lose your reader's interest. This is why it's so important in writing.

Pick Your Poison BrainstormingI've been thinking about a somewhat detailed scenario, Pick Your Poison, where every major ideology rules a great power, while every minor ideology gets some minor powers aligned to one of the great powers. I'm dividing the world into four blocs, with each bloc corresponding with a corner of the Political Compass test because it's a nice, neat way to arrange everything. The other major aspect of this scenario is that every state is a hellish dystopia based on the most unforgiving straw men their opposition has drawn up. Everyone's sacred cow gets thrown on the grill. If you don't have a sense of humor about this sort of thing, I suggest skipping it (or at least the parts about your blessed bovine). I'm thinking of a PoD sometime before the fall of the Soviet Union (China stays somewhat Maoist before going full crazy later) and a current year in 2115, so modernish states are front and center with sPick Your Poison Brainstorming4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Fast lane to becoming a better artist.I often get this very question: How did you get this good this fast?Fast lane to becoming a better artist.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Now as I consider myself not being as good as people tell me, even struggling quite often with being an artist in general.
I do know how to get better and how to reach it fast. I'm still growing as I go and it's the main thing that keeps me going.
You need to get into the right mindset and the rest will follow. With the rest I mean:
3. Positive energy.
4. The NEED to draw.
Seeing growth in your work gives you the courage to work harder. You know that feeling when you're just about done with an image
and feel like this image is better than your last one, that great feeling. Use it!
Do studies! Lots of them!! Make film shot studies, live object studies, master-painting studies. They will teach you a lot about composition, lighting, colors, shapes storytelling etc.
You will hardly notice that you are learning thing
