Symbolism of Light and DarkToday I will talk about the symbolism of light and dark.
The sun and the moon. Imagine them completely in your mind. Well if you have, you'll see that one has the exciting, happy, bright filled days, and the other has the daring, solemn, pitch black nights. Each the same in power and rule, constantly competing for time.
I chose this topic of light and dark because I've always loved looking and seeing the expression of good and evil. It's like in Star Wars with the Sith and Jedi. It was always about choice and morals. I find it interesting why some are dark or light, and just how dark or light they might be.
Light and dark is usually perceived as white and black. Good and evil. They are the exact opposites, and always rivals or enemies. When you think about it like that, you would think that there would be a giant war between the good and evil then, wouldn't you?
A white rose splattered with blood is the essence of complication, in this sense. Imagine the purest most innocent material i

True LovePeople don't understand what it means to love someone. Love is not something you can be selfish about. It is a give and take situation, notice give being the first word in that. Love is not about what the person you're with is doing to make you happy, it's about what you're doing to make them happy. Now the person you're with should be thinking along the same lines so it's not a take-take situation on their part.True Love10 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
All ideals about love being completely intense and passionate all the time should be thrown away. Love is not an entertainer, it is not going to constantly create excitement and passion. I'm not saying it never will but don't expect it to constantly be exciting. Know that even in the quiet times love is there, even as you do mundane tasks, it is there. If it is true and you are not lying to yourself about it, it will always be there.
I don't believe you can fall out of love with someone because if that happens you never really loved them, you were infatuated yes, but not in lo

Some things to remember:
You are righteous because of what Jesus did, not because of anything that you did.
Because you are righteous due to Jesus' perfect sacrifice, and not your own righteousness, you cannot be made unrighteous because of your own unrighteousness. You didn't earn it by your own actions. You cannot lose it by your own actions.
"he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy" Titus 3:5
God is not mad at you.
Addiction is slavery, and Jesus wants you free.
Again, YOU ARE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST! "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ" (Romans 8:1). This is the Gospel. It is understanding this that will help you overcome. Through Christ, you are made eternally clean. You can stil
CrayonsLife is like a box of crayons.Crayons8 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
At birth, you're given a great big box of them to share and add color to your life.
Some colors get used more than others.
Sometimes, a crayon gets broken. A Bright color gets snapped in half and tossed in the garbage can, never to be returned. Sometimes you keep coloring. Sometimes you can't. That color was important.
Sometimes a crayon is gained, shared between two people. That color might be just perfect, and works great! Other times it's a different shade, but it will make do.
But, there is always one color left in the box.
It's normally unused until death. It's used to frame the picture. To add the final border to the coloring board of life.
Some people use it. They color onto other's pictures with it. Sometimes their own.
They use it to scribble out portions of the picture. Sometimes the portion isn't that important.
Sometimes it is.
Sometimes there are multiple blacks in the box when you open it for the day.. Sometimes there's only one, or i

My hope, my wish, was granted, fulfilled in a way that makes me smile even more, everyday.
It astonishes me that no matter how bad I feel, Taylor's smile completely turns my day around, I simply cannot help but smile back at her when she smiles at me.
And that got me to thinking. Why is it so hard for us to smile? Smiling is an automatic reflex, it's built into us from the day we are born.
The answer is simple, we don't smile because we choose not to.
Sounds horrible, right? That's because it is. So many of us are caught up in all the negative things in life that we've become used to them, negativity has become our reality. We see people that are smiling and happy and they make us angry because we AREN'T smiling and happy.
It is an unbelievably shallow and selfish thing, to be angry with someone because they are happy.
Smiling relieves frustration, pain, anger,

You may be one person in the world, but you could mean the entire world to another, in many different forms. Company is what it comes down to; someone you can be alone with, someone you choose to spend your moments with, people who are more than a chapter in your story, those who are main characters, those who move you, those who linger on.
If you were really alone in this world, you wouldn’t feel alone; you’d feel complete, strong, immense. You would be everything you need, and you would stand tall without realising. You’re not alone, do you understand me? Do you hear me? Do you feel me? We’re both alive in this instant, isn’t that something?
What a crazy notion –– in these billions of years worth of existence, we’ve managed to stumble across each

Feel Like a Failure? On MistakesFeel Like a Failure?5 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
So you feel like a failure? Like your whole life is just one mistake after the other? The truth is, we all feel that way, because that's what life is, really. One shortcoming after another. But there's good news in that.
A smart man follows advice when it's first given, but a wise man learns it from experience. And what is experience, but trial and error? If you are right the first time, then you know how to do something, but if you make the mistake, you learn twice as much; what to do, and what NOT to do.
Mistakes are a teacher's greatest aspect. I used to think that in order to help people, I had to be perfect myself, but I find that through my failures and my shortcomings, I can offer the best advice. I've learned that from the people who've taught me as well. My parents aren't perfect, nor are they gallant military folk or 'heroes' by the modern sense of the word, but its through their humbleness that they've taught me some of the greatest lessons, and it's that very co

Out of all of the religions out there, Christianity is one of the most (if not the most) powerful. It has over a billion followers worldwide.
I chose to write this on Christianity not to single it out, but because it is the most common religion, especially in the Western world. Whether you are atheist, a devout catholic, a member of any other religion, confused as to your own stand on the issue, or a believer who does not belong to any church, please read the following with an open mind.
Christians preach that you should treat your neighbour as you would like to be treated. Somehow, I don't think that Christians would like to be ostracized from society and denied certain rights. Yet the Church is highly opposed to gay marriages. Though currently the Church isn't, the Bible is blatantly sexist and racist. But people like to ignore what the parts of the Bible they don't like. That must be why eating shrimp and lobster is not considered a sin, though the Bible clearly stat

The Wiccan AltarThe Wiccan Altar4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
The first thing you need to decide is if you can have a permanent altar or if you will have to put it away each time. The kinds of things you use for your altar are very much up to your own personal taste and preferences. It's important that your altar be a reflection of your own spirituality.
The first item of a permanent altar is the table. Some people prefer round tables as they are easier to get around in the midst of a ritual circle. Others like a square table that fits easily into a corner when not in circle. Some people use a large wooden chest. They can store everything inside and then use the top of the chest as an altar when in use. Many think wood is the best medium for an altar since it's from the earth. But metal or stone work just as well. Whatever you decide on, it's a good practice to cleanse and consecrate it before use. Wiping it down with saltwater or smudging it with sage are quick ways to do this. Also, exposure to the sun or moon will work equally well.

The BibleIt was just a brown leather BibleThe Bible10 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
He carried it to school every day
We all made fun of him for it
And snickered at him when he prayed.
Everyone thought he was strange
Only a fool would be seen with that book
That stuff was fine around Mom and Dad
But why ask for a disgusted look?
He had no friends to speak of
At lunchtime he'd just sit and read
It never seemed to matter to him
He thought those words were all that he'd need.
I wanted to make him angry
But every time he'd walk away
There was no way that I could insult him
No lasting remarks I could say.
The time came for the school trip
I had waited for it all year
We'd be flying all the way to England
My excitement overcame any fear.
I looked at the list in disbelief
And found that he was on there!
The guy who never said two words to anyone
I wondered if he'd signed on a dare.
But next day when I boarded the plane
There he was, third row back
With his Bible and a notebook and pen
Looking as if there was nothing he could possibly lack.

27 reasons Twilight sucks1. The two protagonists, Edward and Bella are NOT in love -- their relationship is built up on obsession and shallow lust. It's also sickening how Ms. Meyer indicates that the whole female population is entirely dependent on males, as we can clearly see with Bella's antics in the second book.27 reasons Twilight sucks6 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
2. Ms. Meyer describes everything at least twice. Which, let's face it, isn't great. We HEARD about Edward's damned crooked smile in the first book!!
3. It's so unoriginal. A girl starting high school. Falls in love with best-looking guy in the school. He likes her too. They end up going out. Some other guy likes the main girl too. Problems occur. Girl would do anything to be with guy, and so on. Wow, nobody saw THAT one coming.
4. Bella's POV is plain awful. All she talks about is Edward! All I found out in the whole series about Edward, however, was that he's a vampire and that he's attracted to Bella. (or her blood, whichever...)
