Being a Christian Manga-ka?Lets face it folks...the topic of Christianity is so unheard of in manga. There are very few "mangas" that solely base there theme towards Christianity. If so, many people believe that it is SO not a manga...just a comic book advertising the Christsian faith just to get you to follow thier religion. I know they're trying to do a good deed and trying to spread God's Word to those who love manga. The cold hard truth though: they're not very good.>__Being a Christian Manga-ka?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
BirdsSo yesterday, while going out to water the plants in the front flower bed, I noticed three little baby birds that had fallen from their nest. At first I was heart broken, thinking these birds to be dead. Then, upon taking a closer look I noticed that they were still very much alive. My mom marked them as dead and told me to water the flower bed as usual. I couldn't. It broke my heart imagining those baby birds drowning under my hose. My first thought was to call my friend who, I knew, rescued animals all the time. With her help, and a quick google search, I learned how best to help these birds.Birds3 years ago in Personal More Like This
While placing them safely into their nest I realized something. This is how God sees us. We're tiny, and helpless, and fragile, and lost. He could just mark us for dead and send a flood to kill us (he's done it before), but he can't bring himself to do it. He loves us too much to just leave us. So, instead he sends a gentle hand to bring us and put us back into our nest; Heaven.
I think God put

R.I.P Robin WilliamsI am totally stunned by the news of the passing of Robin Williams. I don't normally get very emotional about celebrities but I really am upset and shaken by this, lots of tears today.R.I.P Robin Williams9 months ago in Personal More Like This
He was and will always remain a legend in so many ways. I grew up watching him in one of my favourite Disney movies as a kid, Aladdin and of course Jumanji, Hook, Mrs Doubtfire and so many other movies, he was so diverse I loved his comedy and serious roles. Even if I didn't like a particular movie he starred in very much he would always be awesome and would make it worth watching as he had such a great and unique voice and wonderful energy and talent.
This morning the kids and I watched Robots, the first movie of his I could find as our little tribute to him.
R.I.P Robin Williams, you will be sorely missed.

Today I was at work in school and prayed: "Lord, I want to do something for your kingdom. I want to reach out to someone..."
Then, once my shift was over, I passed this guy up who was standing at the side - outside of the library; and the Lord put it in my heart to reach out to him.
I hesitated, but did it.
I introduced myself and asked if I could have a moment of his time, and he said ok.
I told him about the rapture, and the Love of Jesus Christ.
He told me he knows about both.
When I asked him if he had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he said that he hasn't and wants something to believe in.
I asked if I could pray for him and he said yes!
I even asked him to repeat the sinner's prayer, and he said it word for word.
Now he is saved! and I told him: the walk is tough, but worth it!
I exchanged phone numbers with him, and found out he has a facebook!
Gotta keep him plugged in now!
His name is: Lorenzo Garcia!
I also recently got in tough with my friend Matt

I have been in Acre a week now, safe and in high spirits, but prepared for the worst. The men and women who have fed me and sheltered me here, also give me warning that the road to Masyaf is overrun by mercenaries and bandits not native of this land. What this could mean, I dread to guess.
When I first set out from Roma ten months ago, I did so with a single purpose: to discover what our father did not. In a letter written the year before my birth, he makes mention of a library hidden beneath the stones of Masyaf casle. A sanctum full of invaluable wisdom.
So what will I find when I arrive there?
Who will greet me?
A host of eager Templars, as I fear most strongly?
Or nothing but the whistling of a cold and lonely wind?
Masyaf has not been home to the Assassins for almost 300 year now. Can we still claim it for our own?
Are we welcome there?
Food for thought. God's words of wisdom.A lot of things have been happening lately and I really been forgetting the true meaning of discipleship. I failed to show love to my neighbours. I failed to honor my mother and father. I have failed to do all works for Christ and not for man.Food for thought. God's words of wisdom.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
But the Lord's grace does nor grow short nor delays. He is quick to forgive and slow to anger.
I woke up late and was in duty at church today and boy was it a crazy morning. I thank God that He is so merciful. Even during the duty He whispered words of comfort, "Do not be afraid. Do it calmly. You are doing fine. Pause so that all may understand what you are saying..."
During the homily, the priest read the gospel of St Luke, Chapter 3, the Baptismal of the Lord, and said that many times we forget that we are sons and daughters of God. We are often forgetful that we are sons and daughters of God. What have we done to make ourselves worthy of the calling which God has so graciously done? (2Timothy 1:9) It is the Lord's good doing

Have you ever been so hungry you've told someone you were starving?
And someone, whether it be a cook at a restaurant or a friend or your mom or whoever, is making your favorite food. That food cannot be cooked fast enough. It is taking forever to make its way onto the plate and in front of you. When you finally get it, it doesn't matter that it's scorching hot. You devour it. You burn your tongue and even savor the blisters afterwards.
I've done that. Recently, even.
I found a recipe online for butterbeer and couldn't wait for it to cool down to try it. I'd had a taste after stirring it before setting it to boil and my tongue let me know it was sweet and delicious. I wanted it bad even though the steam from the mug said DANGER.
Long story short, I burned my tongue about ten times

Risk Your Life, Get More Than You Dream“He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.'” (Luke 19:26 NIV)Risk Your Life, Get More Than You Dream4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Jesus once told the story of a master who gave three servants each a sum of money to handle while he was away. When he returned, the first servant told the master he’d doubled the money through investments, and the second said he’d made fifty percent profit for the master.
But the third servant, in essence, said he’d been afraid the master would punish him for making mistakes, so he hid the money in the cellar until the master returned.
The master rewarded the first two servants, saying those who handle small matters well will be given greater responsibility. But he rebuked the third servant, saying, “Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of. Play it safe and end up holding the bag” (Luke 19:26 MSG).
In order to live a life of faith, we must take risks. Not just any

When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

Dark spots in type designType design is all about balancing the black versus white to create a consistent texture. One of the—perhaps more obscure—principles of creating well balanced type is a consistent stroke weight in certain areas—particularly in the joins. This is true even for simple geometric typefaces of which you probably wouldn't expect it if you're not familiar with dark spots.Dark spots in type design3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Dark spots occur in places where two strokes meet and this is particularly true when two strokes meet at a sharp angle. When two strokes meet there is a weight build-up which should be optically adjusted. The letter 'M' for example usually has three dark spots, one for each bend. Adding so-called ink traps [picture below] can get rid of these dark spots but it's quite an obtrusive method. essentially you add an extra vector point in the narrow negative space area and simply widen the area to give the black room to "breathe".
Ink traps are mainly reserved for two things:

When I was still in high school.. When Thomas and my mom were still alive.. When I was still Agnostic.. When I still had them as friends, we went to a flea market.
Tamara, Caleb, and I were walking around together while my mom and dad were looking at things in another area of the flea market. Tamara and I spotted a bumper sticker on the back of one of the cars that was anti-abortion and we were talking about it and how we liked it. The man running about selling things in front of it apparently had heard us and asked us about it. "So you're admirin' my bumper stickers, eh?" and Tamara, Caleb, and I politely smiled and nodded and told him which one had caught our eyes.
And then he went bat-crap crazy.
He somehow turned a simple thing into a fire and brimstone sermon and began spieling on the religious undertones of the an
