Here are the main character sprites from my Mega Man fan project, "Mega Man OMEGA". This is all conceptual. No actual game exists since I am not a programmer. The style is based on the 8-bit Megaman games by Capcom. The Mega Man sprite I used here is property of Capcom.
Each sprite contains no more than 6 colors (including black and white). This is the most colors Capcom ever used on an actual NES Robot Master (Plant Man from Mega Man 6).
What we have here are the 8 robot masters, each with the corresponding Mega Man sprite (when he uses their weapon). What follows is the breakdown of the sprites and what their power is.
8 Robot Masters --------------------------------- • Vortex Man (teleportation) • Inferno Man (fire) • Viking Man (ice) • Sludge Man (pollution) • Blitz Man (lightning) • Abyss Man (water) • Phantom Man (ghost phasing) • Curse Woman (stone curse)
As any Mega Man fans knows, there is always a secret order that you are supposed to defeat the Masters in. This is because each Master is only weak against one of the other Master's powers. Here is that list.
The concept I came up with for this game is that there would be an extra 4 super difficult Robot Masters that would take the place of the standard "Wily Castle". These characters are called the "Omega-Bots". They are based on the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Just a note... many biblical scholars consider the 4 Horsemen to be the four I have listed. Replacing the more commonly used Pestilence with Conquest.
The final character is the enigmatic Jericho. He plays a supporting role that helps to setup and move the story along much like Zero did in the original Mega Man X. He most likely would have no use for a portrait since he wouldn't have a level of his own... but I made one anyway!
Story Concept ------------------------------------ In another dimension, another time... four evil and supremely powerful robots terrorize what once was a peaceful world. Known as the Omega-Bots, their only goal is to bring about the end of this world. These evil robots have the power to infect other robots via a wireless transmittable code that has come to be called the Omega Virus. This virus corrupts the programming of virtuous robots, turning them into evil mavericks.
The most powerful resistance to these unspeakably evil beings is a team of 3 heroic warriors. Vortex, Ultrax and Jericho are all that remains of what was once a vast and powerful force of Guardians. Recently, there has been a breakthrough for the side of good. An antivirus has been written that can return infected mavericks to normal. This antivirus has been dubbed, the Alpha Code. The hope is that if the Alpha Code can be manually downloaded to the Omega-Bots themselves... they will be stopped once and for all.
The three heroes track down the Omega-Bots and very nearly defeat them. Just as victory seems to be secured, the Omegas escape. In a final effort for survival, the Omega-Bots open a gateway to another dimension. Their random destination, Earth. The random year, 20XX. Not wanting the evil of the Omega-Bots to infect another world, Vortex, Ultrax and Jericho jump through the portal as well, hot on the heels of the Omegas.
Though the 4 Omega-Bots entered the portal, mere seconds before the 3 heroes, they actually arrive on earth one full week earlier. This gives them ample time to begin infecting local robots with the Omega Virus. By the time Vortex, Ultrax and Jericho arrive on earth, the evidence of the Omegas presence is obvious. Still confused as to how this could have happened, the heroes are captured by three of the Omegas new lieutenants... Blitz Man, Sludge Man and Curse Woman. The heroes are taken before the leader of the Omega-Bots, the one known as the Tyrant Queen. With a wry and satisfied smile on her lips, she proceeds to infect two of the heroes with the Omega Virus. Vortex and Ultrax become the Omega-Bot's high generals and are renamed Vortex Man and Inferno Man. Before Jericho is able to be infected, he manages a daring escape. On the run in a strange world, Jericho knows he cannot defeat the combined force of the Omegas and his former comrades. Hoping to find new allies in this world, Jericho holds onto hope that the Alpha Code can still save this world and restore his friends.
Over the coming months, the Omega-Bots (along with Vortex Man and Inferno Man) continue their conquest of this new world. Jericho is very much alone, but he begins to hear reports of a heroic, blue, robot boy that is already battling the forces of the Omegas. Perhaps with the help of this so-called Mega Man... the Omega-Bots can be destroyed once and for all.
This is another custom character done in the KOFXIII style. This time it is a picture of the my friends main character named simply "ACE". There is a huge back story to the character but it's not my place to tell You guys can ask my broja himself over at [link]
I used Hazama's sprite as a base but it still took about 5 hours of actual work time to complete. The hardest part was making the little details that my broja wanted to include in his character. I was able to add most of them but some were just impossible to add.
I'm generally pretty rubbish at speedpainting, so I figured it was about time that I addressed that. This one won't win any prizes, but I picked up on a few things that made it worthwhile... now I'm looking forward to trying again tomorrow
today's speed... still almost monochromatic (oh lol) but hopefully more dynamic and epic! I was trying to get the metal to feel shiny, and I think that worked out ok, but the figures all feel rather statue-like to me. But more progress was made, so let there be rejoicing!
