“Indeed I have,” the android replied. “There were energy spikes coming from the Legolaian ship consistent with that of a teleporter.”
“So can you tell if the Occupant was teleported with them?” Bardak inquired.
“I am afraid I cannot,” was Cynthis’ response. “Although your craft recorded a fair amount of data, it still was not enough to determine that.”
Bardak turned to Ryu. “Did you detect anything with your powers?”
“I didn’t,” the dragon in human form said. “At the time the incident was happening, I was securing the cyborg, and so wasn’t able to focus on him. Of course, I didn’t sense anything from him to begin with. I assume that his mental powers are ev

Monkey BusinessMorgana Le Fay strolled through the Hanover Zoo in Angel Falls. It was a lovely day and she didn't have anything else to do. Apparently many other people thought the same as the zoo was packed. She would have liked Robin to come with her but she was still too uncomfortable with her new form to appear in public. Morgana was enjoying herself, seeing the many animals living in replicas of their natural habitats. Still, there was one thing off. Anything she looked at one of the monkey or ape exhibits, they were always grouped together at the back. If they had of been human, she would have said that they were conspiring.Monkey Business1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This
As she passed another monkey habitat, she saw the same thing. As she turned away, she noticed a glint of light coming from the midst of the primates. She turned back and then reached out with her power. She pulled up on the object, which was composed of metal, and was shocked to see it was an advanced type of gun. The monkeys moved apart, revealing a pile of the same weapon

Detective Jonathan Crane yawned as he walked down the hallway, carrying two cups of coffee. One for himself, and the other for the precinct's current guest, Albert Dupree. Ever since Friday, the Frenchman has been most reluctant to return to his hotel room. Given who they were up against, John couldn't blame him. The Detective was quite familiar with the feeling of paranoia, he was married to one of the premiere heroines of Angel Falls. Not only that, but his beloved was also quite publicly recognized. He lives with his own breed of fear, so yeah... he could sympathize with Albert.

The real Melinda Crane was already on her way over to Stranger Industries. It was around noon as she entered the building. She went to the receptionist known as SI. Mindy informed SI of her business with Polygirl. SI gestured towards the elevator to which lead to Polygirl's lab. Melinda pressed the button in the elevator as she was slowly descending into building, hoping Poly could provide her answers.
Meanwhile, Poly and Ryu were looking over some recent data results. "You see this spike here, Ryu." Polygirl pointed out. "Yeah, I see it. Is that normal?" Ryu asked with concerns. "From what the spell offers, yes." Polygirl stated. Ryu was concerned with the results. "So from the poison that you collected from me, how long would you say I could endure these effects while under the influence of the spell?" Ryu asked. Polygirl run a quick few numbers. "According from what your body can do with regenerating, that only becomes a minor factor. The poison strangely enough can counteract it, b

Not far outside a small town in Southwestern Ontario was the farm of the Martin Family. Inside the house, David and Susan Martin, the owners of it, had three visitors: Mindy Marvel, the Changeling, and Quebec Star of the Guardians. The couple sat together on the chesterfield while Mindy and the Changeling sat on chairs facing them and Quebec Star floated around the room. “Please tell us everything you can remember,” Mindy asked. “We need to know as much as possible about your ordeal.”
“Of course,” David replied. “A few months ago, the man who employed Gordon came here. I can’t remember what he looked like; his features are blurred in my mind. He spent about a week here, doing whatever it was that he did to our minds, to get us to say those horrible things about Gordon. He left a number of thugs here too, to keep an eye on us, although it wasn’t really necessary. When there wasn’t a camera in front of us, we were in a daze and

Dear Ms. Brenton
By way of introduction, my name is Geneviere Winter, owner and publisher of several media outlets throughout the world. Perhaps you are familiar with White Wave Publishing, a subsidiary of WW Communications?
I will be moving to the city of Angel Falls soon as I am brokering a deal to purchase The Daily Herald Newspaper. I am also closing escrow on the properties of the late Harry Slate, which will include his mansion as well as his no longer published magazine in particular the magazine's printing equipment. His estate has cleared probate and I will be able to take custody of the property soon.
I wish to retain yours and your firm's services for myself personally; as well as in the interests of White Wave publishing, the Herald, and some magazines to premier in the next twelve months. As you are aware, good legal representation is essential for a person in

He began walking to the ship's teleporter. As the leader of the Guardians, he was due for a meeting with the other senior members of the team to vote on an important matter. The Lone Stranger had asked for Gordon Martin aka Raging Bull to join the team. Bardak wasn't sure if they should or not. On one hand, the young man seemed sincere in his claim of reformation. But he had committed many serious crimes, including kidnapping the most beloved member of the Guardians.
He stepped into his teleporter and made sure it was set to send him to the team's headquarters before activating it. However, instead of arriving where he expected to

He shifted the potted flowers to his other hand, they were heavier than he thought they would be. Must be a good ceramic pot he thought. He had inspected the plants before delivering them, even though he was told not to. There was nothing harmful he could see. There was no bomb or other device in the dirt or the plant.
Sighing, he turned the final corner. He saw a heavily muscled Asian woman sitting in a chair outside the room reading a magazine. Of course he knew who she was. You could not live in Angel Falls without knowing who Lin Li Wong was. The woman stood vigil outside the room of her teammate an

Gothstrike stood vigil, watching Paudraic's. She had never been in the place, but knew full well that it was a den of inequity, and one frequented by some of the movers and shakers in Angel Falls. She watched the clientele enter and leave, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone who could give her answers.
Her cell phone started to vibrate, and she looked at the display. It was Detective Stewart, one of her contacts in the AFPD. She answered the phone. "Hello Detective."
The detective responded "Gothstrike, I checked into the background of the criminal you captured. He is a known hit-man. I got the warrant to check his accounts, but there has been no major deposit in weeks. We have no idea who hired him, or where he is staying. He must have received cash for the job."
Gothstrike frowned in frustration. Whoever hired him was careful to hide his or her tracks. "Thanks Detective. I'll let you know of any developments." She closed her phone and studied a person walking out of Paudric's

Gordon Martin stepped out of the elevator into the basement of the Guardians headquarters. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for what he was going to do. Ever since he first seen Paulina Wilson, better known as Polygirl, she had been on his mind. And yet, she had been unconscious the whole he was with her that night, after he had helped kidnap her and then rescue her. After that, he was in a jail cell for a while before he had been released into the custody of the Lone Stranger. Of course, while he was at the Strangers Industry facility, his movements were restricted. After he was accepted into the Guardians, he moved into one of the living quarters in the Guardians headquarters. He had hoped to be able to talk with Polygirl at the Guardians general meeting soon after, but never got the chance to due to what happened at it. And while she often worked in the lab in the basement of the HQ, he never could summon up the courage to go and see her. Until now.

Gothstrike stood in her room. She was already dressed in her hero's outfit, her face-paint was on. She was staring at the staff on the wall. Smiling, she picked it up. It felt good in her hands. Spinning it, she thought about the good they would do together. The people they will save. Gothstrike walked slowly to the door of her room. It was time to get back into fight. The question was, how bad have things got in Angel Falls?
It was dark already, and Gothstrike was wandering around the Docks. Things have changed quite a bit. Crime seemed to be more organized. The usual inter-gang wars have lessened somewhat. Gothstrike heard that a group known as the Canadian Syndicate were responsible, but didn't know how strong the alliance among thieves was. She knew the docks well, and it felt familiar to get started there. She first looked in on the Bonecrushers, with Marrow having gone missing nearly a year

Mr. Untouchable frowned "But the actions of the heroes are well-loved by the public. Despite her Soviet background, even the Soviet Superwoman is

Gothstrike regained consciousness. There were three people around her. The doorman from Paudraics stood close by, her intimidating visage slightly marred by a stunningly beautiful body. The alien had ridges along her forehead and her teeth were sharp and pointed.
Standing next to the doorman was the blue-skinned alien she remembered from the scene at Paudraic's. She had a frown on her face as she looked down at Gothstrike. Across from them, on the other side of Gothstrike, stood a man she knew all too well. Officer Harrison looked down at Gothstrike.
The officer spoke "We need to stop meeting like this. You are lucky today Gothstrike," he sneered as he said her name, "No one has decided to press charges. This woman," he gestured at the blue-skinned alien "has vouched for your innocence, and after your target and her employer came in and saw you, they also decided to drop the charges."
Gothstrike's ears were still ringing from the woman's scream. She nodded and said "Then
