USA: Support the Catholic church or you'll be nextOne day, way back in college, the Catholic chaplain heard me play the piano and offered me a position as an accompanist at his parish. I wasn't Catholic but I accepted anyway because I wanted the money. As far as jobs go, it wasn't much of one - I usually worked just one day a week and made $200 a month tops. But I was getting paid to do something I enjoyed and that was fun. Plus it was amusing in a weird sort of way watching the collection baskets get passed around at every mass and knowing that some of that money would soon make its way into my pocket.USA: Support the Catholic church or you'll be next3 years ago in Personal More Like This
What did I spend all that "Catholic" money on? More like what didn't I spend it on. With most of my room and board already included with tuition, I was free to buy - among other things - all sorts of alcohol, porn, satanic blackmetal (back when people actually bought music), slutty clothes, and - most memorably - an athame for my wiccan ex-girlfriend's 20th birthday (I did mention I wasn't Catholic, right?) And yes, since you al
One Reason....... why I try not to comment about people's weight. One Reason...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I used to attend a particular conference on an annual basis, and so I got to (casually) know the other "regulars" who also used to be there. Every year, more or less, I'd see the same group of people at the speakers' dinner, and we could catch up on the usual "what are you up to these days?" kind of stuff. One of the guys I used to see fairly often was a tall heavy-set fellow (some might call him "fat" or "obese") he'd always been tall, bearded, and big, to me. But one year, he showed up and he had lost a lot of weight. It took me a second to recognize him, and I said, "Hey, Rich! You look great! You've lost a lot of weight!" and he looked at me and deadpanned, "Yeah, pancreatic cancer will do that."
Do I need to belabor the point? I will. First off, I set myself up for a massive head-fuck, by making assumptions about what was going on in someone else's life, and - even though I was being friendly about it - I was horribly wro

Hello and welcome to my second tutorial. I made this one especially for Thomas today.
Here are some pictures on "How to use Worbla's"
But first: What is Worbla's?
Worbla's Finest Art is a thermoplastic that's ultra cosplayer-friendly. It cuts easily with a knife or a pair of scissors.
FAQI've been meaning to do this for a long time, and boy howdy is it long!!! It's organized into a few different categories. I'll update as needed. This may be repetitive to some, illuminating to others, and completely boring and useless to others still.FAQ3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Animation Job FAQ
Q: How can I get a job in animation?
The absolute best thing you can do to get into animation as a career is to go to art school. Not only will you learn how to draw and how to SEE, you will meet people, students and teachers alike, who will give you new perspectives and will likely be the sources of your future jobs. (My first job came from one of my teachers.)
There are several schools that have fantastic animation programs that cover all facets of the atr form. Schools like the one I attended, CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS, will teach you animation (2D and 3D,) character design, storyboarding, bac

EDIT: If you don't like the statements made below about Disney's film, you don't need to tell me. this journal's purpose is BEYOND the scope of just one animated movie. so please try to understand the general image instead of nitpicking over small points.
When American children hear the word Arab" what is the first thing that comes to mind? Perhaps the imagery of Disneys film Aladdin, a film which has been immensely popular in theaters and on video and is sometimes shown in school classrooms.
Arab Americans have problems with this film. Although in many ways it is charming, artistically

100 Questions (Oh god...)1. ONE OF YOUR SCARS, HOW DID YOU GET IT??100 Questions (Oh god...)1 year ago in Personal More Like This
--> ^ This second question mark is annoying me. Get your stuff together questions.
Oh right, I also got a lil' itty bitty cut on my finger from a steak knife I was screwing around with at Texas roadhouse. Thug life.
2. WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM?
--> An Xbox painted the whole length of one wall, and a bunch of smiley face stickers on the other. The other two walls have some posters n' stuff.
3. DO YOU SNORE, GRIND YOUR TEETH, OR TALK IN YOUR SLEEP?
--> I have no idea, but I know you do.
4. WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO?
--> You know that song that goes, "Doo doo doo doo doo"? Yeah that one.
5. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME YOU WERE BORN?

She was going to see the pandas today if it was the last thing she did. She had primped for the panda and everything! Pig tails and an adorable pink dress. She curtsied and bowed and danced for the panda.
The sad part of this tale, it really was the last thing she did. The panda became so enthralled with her that it fought its way out of that cage and gobbled down the little girl.
Why nudeWhy nude? Why nude5 years ago in Personal More Like This
A question I kept asking myself till very recently. I think I know the answer now...
A woman needs clothes nowadays, clothes became a huge part of her life and I don't blame her for that
But clothes are more like an armour or an image - they reflect the person she wants everybody to see. Partly they reflect herself and partly - what she'd like to be.
But nudity is another thing. Completely. When nude she is completely different - unarmed and sensitive. Feminine as she can possibly be. Herself
That is what makes it so difficult to capture. You have to make her relaxed and confident. Don't scare her or cause her to pretend, act or defend her nudity. You need to assure her that it is completely natural to be herself. Just herself. Not a person evrybody sees but a person she realy is. That makes you a kind of confederate to her. She bestows you with something she doesn't show everybody - only the most close and trusted people.

So impersonal until I knew the author.
His words struck me like a cord of music.
Do I believe him now? Yes.
To believe these that are inside me.
To not hold back the hopeless romantic that I am due to fear of getting hurt again.
To open my vulnerability to my best friend who has only just discovered my existence.
For him, I will try.
Is to be there for him because I know he needs it just as much as me.
Is not letting him take the brunt of the abuse, even if he thinks it will help.
Is tenderly kissing him no matter how my friends feel.
Is the goal both of us are striving for.
He is finally mine, and I am not letting that go.
Seeds of HopeGoodbye baggage. I don't need you.Seeds of Hope5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Be smushed and crushed and demolished in some other place.
My heart is not for you. My soul is not for you.
I don't need your clutter anymore.
You do not deserve my tears. My emotions shall not be focused on you anymore.
I will grow from this. For every destruction allows for new life to grow.
The seeds of hope have been planted. Soon they will sprout with new thoughts.
New words. Softer thoughts. Kindness towards myself and other.
Peace will ingrain itself into my psyche that I will have no choice but to be calm.
Emotions will be pure. Happiness will flow without being forced.
If I want to smile, I will. If I don't, I won't. These are my life rules now.
Goodbye baggage. I wish you the best of your destructive life.

For Ben Pruitt
Sleepy actions can be just as open and truthful as those of a drunken man.
Much more healthy for the body, for sure.
Last night ~ priceless.
He asked me what I thought of his sweet nothings - worried I was bothered by his giant romantic streak - NEVER!
Muttering, half asleep, that I of course adored his words sweeter than honey; I asked for more, something I never asked for when awake.
I asked for his love for me.
I can only imagine what he felt at my curled up figure saying that cuddled against his warm body.
As we began. Tangled the next morning he brought up the whispers in the night.
Both terrified of rejection, our youth, and the devotion required for those words...

I had tuck it in a corner
Like a note to inspire myself later during my dark days
Or money left in a coat pocket four years later.
Do you know where I found my smile, reader?
With a friend, someone I had entrusted with my vulnerability.
That's what my smile is, you know? Vulnerable, unprotected, and un-phased by the scars on my heart.
I unknowingly gave it to him because like a Wolf who protects its cubs,
He protected my smile even in the darkest of times.
He was always opinionated but never judging.
Thank you for keeping my smile safe.
Now that I have it back,
May offer to protect yours?
