Marines Corps StoryMarines Corps Story3 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Every now and then, in the middle of the constant barrage of crap that's just pissing us all off these days, we come across a story, a feat, an event that just makes us stop in our tracks. This was one for me.
Cody Green was a 12-year kid in Indiana who was diagnosed with leukemia at 22 months old. He loved the Marines, and his parents said he drew strength and courage from the Marine Corps. As he bravely fought the battle into remission three times. Although he was cancer-free at the time, the chemotherapy had lowered his immune system and he developed a fungus infection that attacked his brain.
Two weeks ago, as he struggled to fend off that infection in the hospital, the Marines wanted to show how much they respected his will to live, his strength, honor and courage. They presented Cody with Marine navigator wings and named him an honorary member of the United States Marine Corps. For one Marine, that wasn't enough...
So that night, before Cody Green passed away, he took it upon him

Still and morbid darkness grow
Behold the mourning gone away
In the shadows come what may
Darken soul and darken heart
Lips of crimson fall apart
In chains of steel forever bound
Beneath the cool and hollow ground
Cross the threshold, cross the sand
Spawn of madness, stronger hand
'Till every day that I behold
Glow and shimmer all in gold

A father entered the room of his daughter. She was not there, but there was a letter on her bed. He immediately started to think about the worst case. With shaky hands, he opened the letter and read:
My dear dad,
I'm so sorry to inform you that I ran away with my new boyfriend. I found at last the real love! Oh, if you could just see him! He is so handsome with his tattoos and earrings and so gorgeous on his fast motorcycle! But it's not just this. At last I'm pregnant! John says that we'll be really fine in his trailer in the thick of the forest and he wants us to have a lot of children. Of course, this is my dream too! I also discovered that marijuana does not harm you. That's why we decided to cultivate it for ourselves and our friends, when we run out of cocaine and heroin. Moreover, I hope that Science will find soon a cure for AIDS, so that John will be cured. He deserves it!
Daddy, I don't want you to worry about me. I'm already 15 years old and I can take care of myse

This face in the reflection is nothing but a monster.
You let your rage take over just once, and after,
a debilitating shockwave of fear
and embarrassment/disgust in yourself knocked you to the ground.
As you cried uncontrollably,
you became aware of the demon unleashed.
The face in the mirror is now a familiar stranger.

The God looks at us
He approaches us
Opens his mouth--the voice of an angel
Sweet and beautiful
Elegant in his robes of black
He sings for us, screams to us
We cry back
Kami, kami, kami, oh God
The pressure mounts
You don't stop us
Can't halt us
We're moving now--unstoppable
We're high, sublime
Exhilaration entwines us
We fall down
Can't deny the God
Our arms go up
Our bodies move
He conducts us
He loves us
We love him back
Sublime servitude to a supreme God
But then hell prevails
The music stops
The concert ends.

That fucking burn in your cherry-pitted throat.
Don't bother fucking with me Tinsel Town,
your mug shot reflects upon my darkest nightmares.
I wouldn't mind if you shot the living daylights out of me,
just... don't disclose those details before hand.
I won't thank you twice for that.

Well I guess every story has its end,
and this one is a little overdue.
The Flowers told me that you shed
diamonds over me at dinner,
first time I heard I thought I was a winner.
Now I see that its all just plastic,
and Im a lonely king,
living in the outer rim;
of this galaxy.
I guess Im back on the moon,
didnt think my vacation would end so soon.
But Earth seemed like a nice place to stay,
so close, yet so far away.
