There is a family from Africa that attend my church, and their youngest son (about 6 years old) was born with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a general term used to diagnose brain malfunctions caused at birth. This young boy acquired it the same way my 12 year old niece got it. They both went through the birth canal when their mother had a streptococcal infection. The infection went to their brains and they became infected with streptococcal meningitis, which caused their brains to swell.
