Your WingsCan you hear all the cries?
Can you see the pain?
Does any of it reach you?
Through the lies and fingers pointing blame?
I opened my eyes
And saw a world full of fear
How can you watch from on high
As I lose all that I hold dear?
I'm down here on my knees
Begging you to hear my prayers
Just need to know that you're still there
Listen as I call your name so please tell me
Do you see my tears?
All I've ever wanted was your love
And to rest under the shelter of you wings
Blood stained pages full of words old as you
Cities falling and children crying
Tell me is this what you wanted us to do?
Are you watching as all mankind is dying?
Will you open your eyes?
Will you see all the pain?
Will you just stand by?
Are all the prayers in vain?
Please, I'm begging you
Take a moment and look
See those of us who still need you
Can you hear me?
I'm calling out to you
Can you see me?
I'm still right here
And I still want to rest
Beneath the shelter of your wings
And then all hell broke looseIt's a story of a girl living in France. And then all hell broke loose3 years ago in Personal More Like This
She's an average girl.
She isn't fat but she's not skinny.
She's not ugly but not beautiful either.
Her family isn't unhappy. Her parents are happy. Her sister is happy. Her friends are happy.
She's got so many minor health issues she can't even count them on her fingers.
She doesn't success in school much, doesn't really know what to do with her life, doesn't draw like an artist, she doesn't model like a 3dartist, she isn't even a singer worth paying for.
She speaks a few languages, not perfectly.
She isn't excellent anywhere.
She isn't crappy anywhere either though.
She doesn't deserve the fame and doesn't especially do so bad.
She doesn't make especially excellent works, no matter how hard she tries.
She likes befriending people from all around the world, yet she knows very well she talks too much.
She doesn't like modern fashion and her tastes are random in a lot of things.
She crumbles of terror mixed with bliss when talking

Umi is a varied artist from Russia. There is a great deal of Asian influence in her designs and her paintings are vibrant and full of emotion. Her portraits are especially wonderful and her brushstrokes look similar to that of a traditional painting which is a technique few can pull off. You are sure to be inspired by her work!
Grant is a self-taught photographer and website designer from Australia. He favors macro and nature photography but also experiments with conceptual pieces when he can. He says that he finds inspiration in music which is especially true for his nature shots. His gallery is stunning and each shot is just breathtaking! This artist is definitely worth watching!

- My dog died.
-other weirdness by humans freaked me out ( won't elaborate on that it was stressful)
-New puppy. I love him, he's the best thing that came out of this summer, but from 3mos-6 mos they are holy terrors.
- Some of the only actually good friends/people I've met since moving here moved/are moving away.
-My computer had a meltdown and died. DIED. I lost everything that was not backed up. That means all of my brushes, all stocks, all fonts, everything. After spending money to get it fixed, I realize this brand is a shit box. It's almost not worth paying the money to fix it, so now, my monitor is literally coming apart on it ( tho got it running).
I have huge trust issues with doctors, and my doctor doesn't want me as a patient anymore. I'm very likeable and everything, but he says "You live too far away from me". That's it. It doesn't matter that I will freely travel to

From the most novice to the most accomplished, dA is home to artists of all types and skills. This mish-mash of talent, experience, knowledge, and eagerness to learn creates a beautiful opportunity for mentorships between those who are learning and those who are willing to lend their time and patience to a burgeoning new artist or writer. But forming those relationships can be daunting for those looking for help and unfulfilling for those offering that help.
This is the second of a two part article series that aims to address a few key points of miscommunication that seem to be common between those willing to offer critique and constructive commentary and those seeking feedback. You may have heard that the critique community on deviantART "sucks" or "doesn't exist", but I'll humbly beg to disagree. I've been an active participant i

Please be the year when people are no longer killed because of their skin color or religion or gender or sexuality. Please be the year when hatred comes to an end and everyone learns to accept and respect each other. Please be the year when there is more positivity in the headlines rather negativity.
I know it's a lot to ask, but please.

We are looking for active team members with a passion for helping people.
BurdenedHearts is unique, in that it does not attempt to offer support directly to our members (although sometimes our team can't help themselves!). Our mission is to provide a space in which the members connect with each other and find support networks and friendships for themselves.

Unable to get Married~ Hi HiUnable to get Married~3 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This story came to my attention, from someone who is not only a great artist, but a cool person. She has a bit of a sad, frustrating story.
Basically she cannot marry her partner because of some bullshit laws. The following explains it;
Due to the immigration laws in the UK, British people are unable to marry and be with non-EU spouses unless they make a ton of money that 47% of the country is not making. Because of this, my British fiance and I (an American) and roughly 20,000 other families are unable to get married and be together until they start making more money, which is very difficult in this job climate. This affects me personally because in America I have nowhere to live but on a couch in my aunt's house, and I want to return to the UK to be with my fiance and live closer to my mom, but while this law is in place, we can't be together. Please consider signing this petition that asks the British government to lower the financial requ

I won't say what it was, but it's one of the poems on here that is extremely personal to me. I managed to read all the way through it and then I freaked out and ran out of the room. I hid in the bathroom for twenty minutes, crying and panicking and thinking things like, "Fuck, this is so humiliating! Why did I do that? Not only will they know how shitty my writing is, but they now know how I really feel!" I was terrified. Absolutely terrified.
And then one of my classmates walked into the bathroom. She coaxed me out of the stall and helped calm me down and hugged me and said that as soon as I ran out of the room, everyone basically said, "Holy shit. That was one of the best things I've ever heard." She walked me back to the room (I was shaking and still crying and I felt like I was going to die fuck I was so scared) and 20+ people who I never thought would ever react to poetry--especially mine--were smiling at me. Everyone, includi

Hello. We are Dawni (camelopardalisinblue), Beth (betwixtthepages) and Joanne (MagicalJoey), and we've got an article about something serious for you all today.
We'd like to talk about pregnancy and infant loss.
According to a 2004 National Vital Statistics Report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2000, 15.6% (or 1,003,000 of the 6,401,000 pregnancies in the US) ended in either a miscarriage or a stillbirth; the CDC also indicates that in 2003 the number of live births in the US was 4,093,000. Of those births, 27,500 ended in the death of an infant under the age of one.
Some of you may know that October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness month, and others may already know that October 15, in particular, is a special day in the babyloss co

Happy half-decade birthday, comic!
Man, it's been a long way. And even more still lies ahead, let's see if I can wrap it up before hitting the full decade mark.
Since it's kind of a special occasion, I thought it might be fun to look back to how it became what it is today.
I had wanted to make a comic of my own for something like ten years before Wurr even started, and I had had several started projects in the likes of "this is the greatest idea I've ever had in my life! I must make a comic right now", none of which ever got past their third page. It's funny, before Wurr I always advertised and talked about my comics and
Theme of the Week: BarbarismOH GOD IT'S TUESDAY! I'M LATE!Theme of the Week: Barbarism1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Ever wonder what would humanity would be if the world were to restart? Deep down, we are all savages. We are all capable of murder and reverting back to our primitive instincts. (Some examples of feral humans and savagery are demonstrated in the novel Lord of the Flies and the film Doomsday.)
In the days when we huddled around fires and made spears of rocks, humanity was an infant species, barely mastering language and the handling of tools. It was the beginning of culture. Without culture, we would be savages, little more and beasts.
So let our cultured literature sink its pen in the brutal, the uncultured, the feral, and the barbarian. This week is the reliving of the Stone Age.

In a personal view I think this site's policies need an overhaul. The system for reporting is 'simple' but under the simple facade it is pretty complex. There's so many loopholes in the system that are allowing people's IP to be claimed and precious little is done about it unless it impacts them financially. For some time now I have been working freelance and a lot of income has come from my work.
When someone takes a commission I have done for someone else and uses it or claims it as their own, that does in fact hurt financially, in more ways than one. Not o
