The Pickle Jar- Ch. 2- Part 2"CRIMINY, Arnold, WAKE UP ALREADY!"
He jolted awake at the feeling of being shaken almost violently, and his eyes flew all around to see that the lights were on, the people were dancing to up-beat music, and that he was still sitting on the couch with a very frustrated Helga gripping his shoulders and a slight scowl on her face.
He blinked rapidly. 'HUH?' It was about this time that he realized he must have been dreaming, and he felt himself deflate instantly. 'Awwww... I just can't catch a break, can I?' And he realized, only now on a conscious level, that Helga had once again made him feel as if he were in heaven, and then sent him straight back into heck, just like that. 'How ironic...' He sighed. 'I can't even kiss her in my dreams, now?'
Helga let go of his shoulders then, giving him a very annoyed look, though he noticed that a slight blush was on her cheeks. Helga let out a sigh then, her eyebrow still narrowed at him. "Thank goodness you're awake. You kept muttering my name in
The Pickle Jar- Ch. 2- Part 1Arnold and Gerald boarded the large yacht, their night bags under their arms and Arnold with a very tentative smile on his face. Almost as soon as their feet hit the deck, they were greeted by a very enthusiastic Rhonda Lloyd, wearing a long, white nightgown with fluffy trim on the hem and collar. "Gerald, Arnold, darlings! So glad you could make it!" She grabbed them both in a small hug and released them just as quickly, grinning. "You're some of the first to arrive actually."The Pickle Jar- Ch. 2- Part 14 years ago in Scraps More Like This
Gerald smiled coolly, setting his bag down so he could cross his arms over his chest. "Yeah, sorry for being a little early, Rhon'. We were just a little excited to see what a yacht actually looked like." He looked around, smirking. "But I guess we still don't know, because this is clearly a cruise ship."
Rhonda laughed, waving him off and wandering back into the den through the glass doors. "Oh no, Gerald, none of that smooth talk is going to work on me." She replied smoothly, picking up a tray of food off of t

She's been opening up more, showing me more of herself. That strange other girl inside of her; the one I always knew she could be; the one I always got small glimpses of, but never truly understood... she's coming out.
I told her just today, just a few minutes ago, in fact, that I thought of her as a friend... a good friend... a best friend.
Her face had lit up, as I knew it probably would, though she tried to hide it; I could see. Thou

"It's hard to, actually. The Jaws theme had build up and suspense, which was really part of the movie's charm, the hints of the approaching shark, I guess. Halloween on the other hand had the theme in a really creepy, eerie and bone-chilling kind of way. It's hard to choose since they're both pretty different and really awesome in their own rights."
"Huh, you make a good point there, I'll admit that. Darn it, why do you always have to counter me with logic and digging deeper?"
"You wouldn't learn anything interesting if I didn't do that."
Helga gave a playful scowl and poked his nose. "You're in for it now, hair boy."
"Really?" Arnold looked up at her innocently.
The two of them were walking to school together one morning, which was something they did every other day or so. But of course, they never showed up directly at school together. They would always stop a block
Arnold's TemptationA nineteen-year-old Arnold struggled down the sidewalk, his arms loaded down with packages that his grandfather had asked him to come down to the mall to pick up for him. Christmas was coming up in only a few weeks, and old Jack Frost had paid them a visit. The sidewalks and streets were coated in a white blanket of snow, and all the ponds and lakes in the city were frozen over. Arnold being more than aware of this, his entire body was snug as could be in a thick jacket, some pants, a hat and a scarf.Arnold's Temptation4 years ago in Scraps More Like This
Feeling incredibly tired after walking for so long, Arnold decided that a small break was in order, and stopped by a bus bench to set his heavy load of packages down on with a sigh of relief. He sat down on the bench beside his pile of packages, picking one small one out in particular to observe a moment. He unwrapped the small parcel, revealing a little, black velvet box. Cracking it open with a smile, he marveled at the modest little diamond ring in the box. His eyes twinkled upon looki
Escalating Love 3 4-4The rest of the morning was going by so well. They at some breakfast, all the while talking about the movies they'd watched the night before in better detail, getting into a playful argument about which of the movie's monsters were better, either the langoliers from The Langoliers or the chernabog monsters from Monsters Creek. It was hard to say, given that both monsters had little screentime and development, but they got into their fun argument to the point where they couldn't stop laughing at each other's debates.Escalating Love 3 4-44 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
After breakfast, they helped Phil and Gertie out with some chores, such as washing the dishes yet again, and then straightening the living room, and folding laundry.
Which was embarrassing.
VERY embarrassing. But Arnold managed to get them out of there before she could tease him about his undergarments.
So after THAT little fiasco, they went back to his room to rehearse some more.
"Hist! Romeo, hist! O, for a falconer's voice, to lure this tassel-gentle back again!
The Elevator 3How much time had passed? An hour? Two hours? By now Helga wasn't even sure how long it had been. All she knew was that she and Arnold hadn't spoken a word for the past...who-knows-how-long. She wasn't sure if Arnold had the time on him, and wasn't even sure if she should ask. If she did that, it would mean breaking the silence, and then TALKING to him. Now granted, deep down she loved nothing more than to hear his sweet angelic voice floating to her ears, but in this kind of circumstance, that wasn't the best idea. The Elevator 35 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Well, he wouldn't exactly call her out on her secret if she simply asked what time it was. Asking "Hey what time is it?" didn't translate to "I love you now kiss me". That was just silly. So why was she so nervous? She could just ask what time it was, he'd answer her if he knew or not, and then that would be that. Simple enough. A conversation wouldn't commence with a simple question of asking what time it was.
Opening her mouth, she was cut off with Arnold suddenly spoke u

Another crazy year.
Especially when it concerned a certain football-headed nine-year-old boy.
The said boy was walking home with Gerald one afternoon after school, completely lost in thought about something he'd been thinking about since the ads and buzz about the upcoming Cheese Festival began. He was so inwardly troubled with these thoughts that he barely even heard Gerald as he was talking about a "not date" he'd had with Phoebe the night before.
"Then we get to her house and I laid one right on her cheek! It was pretty nice man, she giggled and her cheeks were all pink! Man, Phoebe sure is cute when she's all-hey, Arnold? Hey Arnold!" Ge

Helga, having been boredly leaning against a nearby rack, looked over at her best friend as she held up a bright yellow dress with a corset style bust, a long flowering skirt with patterned sequins, a cowl neckline, and held by two spaghetti straps. It was way too big for Phoebe, most likely going to hide her petite form inside of it.
"Buzz buzz, bumblebee." Helga said sarcastically. "Not going to work Pheebs, everyone will see the dress and then wonder where you went."
"Oh." Phoebe realized, and nodded, putting the dress back. "Well Helga...I can't seem to find a good dress. Will you please help me pick one?"
"Isn't that why I'm here?" Helga pulled herself away and went to the rack of dresses along the aisle. She skimmed through them, her hand on her chin, thoughtfully scanning the various colours, styles, and sizes of all the dresses. "I think you're gonna have to go with blue, it IS an Ice and Snow dance."

He stepped down from his stoop, and walked over towards the bus stop, where Gerald was waiting for him. He knew that it was a beautiful day, and kind of wished he hadn't made plans to ride the bus with Gerald, so he could walk to school and really enjoy the morning, but the thought of pushing the window down, and feeling the cold, exhilarating morning air rush through his golden locks as the metal beast roared down the high way, caused him to quickly discard such thoughts from his mind.
He walked up to Gerald and smiled a little as they just casually did their "hand-shake", almost instinctually, upon seeing eachother. Gerald returned his smile, and shifted a little from foot to foot, his arms crossed over his chest coolly. "Hey, man."

It really sucked.
Helga had apparently succeeded in her mission the moment she showed up for the school dance that night. All to just show Rhonda and her cronies how wrong they were, and above all, to impress her beloved.
It had started a few days before the dance, when Helga had overheard Rhonda making snide remarks as to how she (Helga) could never make herself presentable and less of a tomboy for the dance. They'd even made bets! How dare they. But Helga wasn't about to take it lying down. She confronted "The Internal Fashion and Gossip Queen" as she liked to call her, and told her that she too could doll up and look awesome for a dance. Rhonda accepted her challenge, and told her good luck, she'd need it.
She sure showed them!
On the day of the dance, she'd slaved over herself the entire afternoon to make herself look good. She bought herself a simple but elegant black cocktail dress, and a pair of matching black heels. She had carefully washed and brushed her hair out,

It was after school that day, and Arnold and Gerald were walking to the boarding house together. Of course, it had been a long and tiring day full of merciless teasing based on the very subject Arnold now dreaded. Whoever had written the message on the wall was going to pay for it if they ever stepped up and admitted it. Once more he pushed the violent thoughts aside and focused on the dreaded fact that he had to go on his first real date, aside from back on Valentine's Day, with Helga of all people. This was not going to go well.
"It's a real shame, man." Gerald agreed, shaking his head. "Mmm mmm mmm. Well, looks like you got no choice. It's either that or Helga beats you to a pulp!"

She looked so peaceful... Arnold smiled, but then realized that they must have fallen asleep. He yawned again, and looked over towards the clock, seeing that it was almost ten-thirty. He frowned a little, knowing that this meant he'd have to wake her up.
He hugged her close to his chest, and breathed in her vanilla scent, then sighed softly. He took his free hand, and began pushing her hair out of her face gently.
She stirred a little, and her eyelids twitched. He continued brushing her hair out of her face, and before long, her eyes fluttered open, and she yawned. She looked up at him, and he smiled a little. "Hey," He greeted quietly.

Coming inside, Arnold's eyes scanned for a place to sit, but not until a voice called out to him.

At a nearby table not far from the window, sat Lila Sawyer. She was dressed modestly, in a pair of dark blue overalls and a light green t-shirt. Her hair was a lot shorter, just a little past her shoulders, and wore a green headband in it. She smiled and waved at him.

Arnold knew this, he knew this well. The Green Eyed people did need their help, and he truly owed it to them, after what they had done for his parents, and for him and his classmates back three years ago. He knew what he had to do. What had to be done. It wasn't going to be easy, all things considered. A life-changing thing like this was never easy, no matter how exciting or how important. You could never deny how it wasn't easy to do. Not in the least. And not just the process of it, either. But the feelings. Everything that came with it, whatever that may be.
In his case, it was going to be hard to leave everyone behind. His friends, his grandparents, the boarders, and of course... Helga. His ex-girlfriend. Whom he still did love and care about immensely.

Arnold felt admittedly very surprised at how he'd gathered his courage to practically admit to Helga he didn't want the date to end so soon, which was why he invited her over. It was even surprising to him, having not expected that he'd want to still spend more time with her, and yet, now he really did. It was, after all, the only time they'd ever get to this. Unless he maybe asked her out again, but the result of that would most likely not be positive.
The thought disappointed him a little. No, quite a bit more than before. He'd never had so much fun with a girl before, unless you counted Valentine's Day. This was different, though. A lot different.
Another thought occurred to him then. Could he possibly have a crush on her? He wasn't sure.
Escalating Love 3 3-4Dinner had been pretty pleasant, albeit with some teases toward the two kids that made them blush, especially since they were sitting next to each other. As well as some knowing winks from Phil, which made Arnold want to disappear into his food and leave Helga mildly confused. But none the less, it was quite enjoyable and even entertaining. "Great." Arnold thought to himself as he a snuggled up once more under the sheets, only getting a few moments of comfort from the extra warmth, only to have the sheet yanked from under his hands again. He sighed.
The two of them, Helga and Arnold, were laying under the sheets of the only bed in the hotel room, a double bed, since it was cheaper.
This situation had started when Gerald requested to be roomed with Phoebe. An understandable wish. It was also a huge no-no. The parents involved in OK'ing this trip had forbid it, very expressly. Arnold and Helga had been so thrown off by this that they had spent five minutes in vain trying to convince the pair otherwise, but Gerald wouldn't budge. It wasn't that their parents had said no, but it was because of who Arnold and Helga would end up with.
To their dismay, Phoebe, the intellectual and uncorrupted Phoebe Heyerdahl, wasn't exactly against the idea either. She had even whispered to Helga, loud
